Advantages: Helped bowling attack Disadvantages: Keeping batsman out of form
...The ECB's recently introduced system of central contracts for England players has potential to work. At the moment though there are too many flaws in the system that can be branded as just crazy.
It is a good idea to financially compensate county's for having the absence of their star players. It is also a good idea to be able to rest players at key times.
The problem is the ECB seem to be overkeen to rest players. The policy of resting the bowlers showed its rewards, with Caddick and Gough bowling well uninjured for the whole series. The problem is when they decide to over-rest the batsman. It is understandable resting bowlers who will get injured for bowling long spells, but how often does a batsman get injured (apart from finger injuries) during a long innings? It is more important to the batsman to be practising in the middle to...
Advantages: Easy to use, lots of space, superb touchscreen Disadvantages: Having to use iTunes,
...Buddy, ECB Cricket, Flashlight, Google, Google Earth, IHandgun, iHandy Levle, iPint, Last.fm, Ocado, Paper Toss, Remote, Skype, Urbanspoon, and Wifi Zone. Apps have been developed using the gyroscope in the phone, and others that use the a-gps built into the phone for exact location tracking.
For charging your iPod you need an Apple charging cable, you can't just use any cable, fortunately as they've sold so many iPods now, almost everyone has an iPod cable if you ever need a spare. The battery life for iPod's isn't too bad, you will get the best a day on music continuously, and you will get less with videos as expected. Some apps are power hungry and will run a battery down in under 6 hours, as they keep the screen active permanently. The big downfall here is the battery isn't removable or changeable like most other devices and phones. You can...
Advantages: good player Disadvantages: wrong arm action
...Australia
Bret Lee today has been accused of throwing the ball or rather suspesct arm action, against New Zealand. this is the same side that accused and got the pakistani pace man shoaib Akhtar suspended. However they do not seem to want to play against the same laws that were implmented by the ECB, i hope that Bret Lee gets the same treatment as shoiab akhtar got. It is only fair but i feel that their is one law for some teams and other rules for other teams. The fact that i am writing this is because Australia took it amongst themselves to report the player and I hope New Zealand do the same, it is their right to take what ever action is neccessary to stop Bret Lee from using tactics that are not allowed in the game of cricket....

Review of Australia
Advantages: they only play in half the year Disadvantages: they still play for the other half of the year.
...what we see with the england outfit is similar to the crisis in football. an aging team aren't being replaced youngsters from below. the older players are brought in as cover when someone gets injured but are these really the people to guide england on to the next few years of test cricket? i don't think so. the ecb has tried to show signs of youth development by giving chris schofield a contract but this is nothing more than a token gesture. were this country australia, quality players would be continually brought through the ranks, with the old adage that if you're good enough you're old enough being sounded out. players like darren thomas of glamorgan, a regular wicket taker, should be given a full cance against teams like zimbabwe, who lets face it aren't really the cream of test talent. the likes of stewart, athers and hick...

Advantages: This is THE cricket site on the web. Disadvantages: registration necessary for audio commentary
...I have seen Cricinfo flourish over the last four years, having jumped on board at its launch. Since then I have watched the site develop into the outstanding cricket site on the web. I have also helped to contribute to its development, by submitting new headers and footers for Austria's page - they will be going up on the site soon and I have helped by submitting scorecards to the site too.
The site is so reliable that you can guarantee practically next day reporting of any game. The site hosts a great variety of information, from National sites (ecb.co.uk for example) through to Cricket appreciation societies.
Cricinfo has helped greatly with the spread of the game, and indeed in Austria, it is effectively the only real source of information for the sport, and has really helped to help the sport increase in popularity, and many...

Review of cricinfo.com
Advantages: Good start to season Disadvantages: Dreadful finish to season
...Mid-way through the season Worcestershire were having a great season. Favourites to win the National League Div1 several points clear. Looking set for promotion from Division 2 of the championship. Just beaten Gloucestershire in the Nat West trophy.
Then the Gloucestershire game was replayed due to an ineligble player and Worcestershire lost. The season seemed to plummet from there on. No bowler could back up the quality Glenn McGrath. Graeme Hick was absent due to the ECB Central Contracts and the run supply dried up. Consequently Worcestershire lost almost all of their remaining National League games to go from title favourites to relegated. Results in the championship were hard to come by and expected promotion turned into a mid-table finish.
The seaason was finished with previous seasons national leading wicket taker Alamgir...

Review of Worcs
...Being a teenager/student, the world of alcohol becomes a wonderful place. But its not all about getting nicely toasted. My tipple of choice for a mealtime, or an afternoon in the sun, or just simply to kick back - is Symonds Scrumpy Jack.
The very name - a great selling point for the product - evokes visions of rustic cider mills, woods, old wells, and other such old english hoohah. Apparently first brewed in 1727, this is proper scrumpy - farmhouse cider.
Unfortunately, that is not strictly true - scrumpy jack is of course mass produced like any other mainstream cider. But certainly, the taste preserves its olde-worlde bitterness and crisp finish, while remaining similar enough to its competitors to be taken seriously as a major brand.
Jack is brewed from (taken from the ECB website) "Foxwhelp, Yarlington Mill, Chisel Jersey...
Advantages: ok graphics, easy to master controls Disadvantages: poor gameplay, shots are repetitive, commentary drives you mad
...!
Brian Lara International Cricket is not endorsed by the MCC, ECB or indeed any of the major cricket governing bodies therefore all of the player names used except for Brian Lara are made up which I find annoying. Examples include Andrew Flinstock and Paul Collingewood. It isn't a good sign when you can't find endorsements!!
Graphics for the game are acceptable, although the players don't look like anyone you would recognise from the television; you can tell they are cricket players. Players in to bat are suited up in their pads and wear their team strips and it is clear that some detail has gone into this side of the game. The bad things are that the players don't look realistic enough for me - shoulders seem squared and movement can be a bit jumpy rather than a fluid motion you would expect from a cricket player. Another bugbear is that...
Advantages: If you love the man then a good read. Disadvantages: Not for real cricket fans
...perhaps not a good idea with a week to go to the Ashes.
But he's 31 now and as Freddie says in his book:' I got one not out in my first ever innings as a schoolboy and I would take that now', his form that woeful of late with the bat as the Ashes arrived. You can never question his heart with the ball but it's that bravado on wanting to be the man with that same ball that has worn away most of his cartridge and tendons, this, his last Ashes series in England for me. The greedy ECB play too much international cricket to keep their salaries high and the broken down Flintoff is the result.
-The early years-
There's not much about his childhood in the book other than an honest northern working-class upbringing and strong parenting, his dad a decent club cricketer in the Lancashire leagues...Freddie getting into the game that way, soon...
Advantages: International trade, fewer unemployment Disadvantages: Economic instability
...the Euro.
Firstly, the costs of converting every British business from the pound sterling to the Euro will be phenomenal, and if chosen over the pound, the Euro will be phased in over time meaning that businesses will have to work in dual currencies, resulting in increasing costs and therefore redundancies.
With more international trade and easier price comparisons, international competition will also occur, forcing businesses to lower their prices to stay competitive. This can only occur through cost cutting measures, again possibly leading to further redundancies.
Joining the Euro would also result in our interest rates, which govern inflation (rises in prices), to be centrally controlled by the European Central Bank (ECB), rather than the Bank of England. Also, as the ECB sets a single interest rate for the entire union, one country...
