Save the World - Buy Ecover!!!

Advantages: Smells lovely, cleans perfectly, economical and ecological. Perfect in every way!
Disadvantages: Only that I took so long to start using it!!!

...I?ve been a big fan of Ecover, their products, and their philosophy for over 5 years now, and feel the greatness of being good to the environment every time I overlook the big brands like Fairy and Domestos to favour these wonderfully ecological products. However, switching my washing powder took me a lot longer and a lot more heartache, though now that I have, it?s hard for me to see why! Being slightly sensitive in skin as well as nature, I?ve always used the same brand of washing powder and fabric softener. Anything else always seemed to bring me out in a rash and so as soon as I was shocking my own laundry products for my own house (instead of relying on mum to keep my socks clean!), it was the brands I?d been brought up on that I chose without really thinking too much about it. In a way, I suppose all these big companies depend...

Review of Ecover Washing Powder

How Ecover are you?

Advantages: Doesn't harm the environment
Disadvantages: Some people might find it pricey

...People who might have read my previous reviews might have gathered I am trying my best to live a normal healthy life and cause as minimal damage to the environment. I try to pay attention to products and see if their containers can be recycled, if they are genetically modified, if they are tested on animals, if they are fair trade and so on.. We all can agree on the point that since media is bombarding us with the message that global warming is real and is happening, we are (FINALLY) doing something about it... the only question I ask myself is if we might be too late.. THE PRODUCT ************ During one of my rare trips to Waitrose (where I always seem to be able to discover new products) I was very surprised to discover their wide range of enviromentally-friendly cleaning products and especially the Ecover range. As I...

Ecover Stains for the Environment

Advantages: enviromentally friendly, keeps white white, kind to skin
Disadvantages: mostly found only in larger supermarket chains, though available by mail order

...I first came across ecover products in my mother in law's laundry room.We were visiting on holiday and wehad some washing to do. She showed me how to use her wsher and introduced me to Ecover. I was very impressed. My husbands work clothes and the baby's clothes and nappies came out equally clean and unstained using both their washing powder and bleach (which is safe for colorfast garments). She buys hers in bulk from a Fair Trade type company, so when it was time for us to go home, she pressed a box of the bleach in my hand. Now I was not sure just how good the bleach would be on its own. I pondered swapping over to their washing powder from my homemade washing gel, but come the first stain, I decided to give them a go together. presto! Stain gone. Occasionally i get free samples of Persil in the post, and try them out in between...

Ecover washing up liquid

Advantages: A good quality environmentally friendly product
Disadvantages: maybe a little short on bubbles

...Ecover Washing up liquid comes simply bottled in plain white plastic ,but the packaging goes one step further, the bottle and label are made from polyethylene and the cap is made from polypropylene, both of which are 100 % recyclable. What Ecover say about the product : The liquid is freshly perfumed and made from plant ingredients. It cleans and degreases efficiently and is kind to your skin. The liquid leaves no residue and it is possible to get a refill for your bottle. Refills are available from many health food shops and your bottle will refill over 50 times before it needs replacing. Ecover deliver the washing up liquid to the Health food shops in large drums that are also recyclable. I sent for a free sample of lemon Ecover washing up liquid from HotDealsUK ,like many of us I just love a freebie. I had forgotten all about it...

Review of Ecover Washing Up Liquid

Keep on smiling!

Advantages: great story and illustrations
Disadvantages: none

...One of my daughters' favourite books has always been 'Guess How Much I Love You?' by Sam Bratney because it is such a cute story. That is why, when we spotted another of his books - It's Lovely when you Smile - at the local library we just had to book it out. We were so pleased that we did because it is just as sweet, cute and loveable as the other and is also bound to become a favourite! The only problem is that I think the girls are going to object when we have to return it so I will probably have to go out and buy it! This story is all about Roo, a small kangaroo and his mum. One day Roo wakes up feeling extremely grumpy without knowing why. His mum wants to know what is wrong and tells him that he will feel much better if he smiles but that is the last thing Roo feels like doing. However, his mum is quite determined so sets about...

Up Up and Ecover

Advantages: Kind to everything
Disadvantages: Not as 'smelly' as other chemically enhanced brands

...Ok, so what now? I have a vegetable box scheme, recycle almost all my household waste, compost, shop ethically; i.e. boycott Tesco and take all my mini breaks in the UK. What more could I possibly do to be greener? There are a few things that I needed to work on, namely finding alternative cleaning and washing products. I'll admit I've been reluctant to change from Surf washing powder and my Co-op own brand softener as I do like the smell not to mention the price! But this was before I read up about the toxins and chemicals that go into these products. This was enough for me to change to Ecover quick smart. Ecover is the obvious choice for anyone wanting to live a more sustainable way of life, this sustainability should be promoted throughout the country, by our government, not just for people who are willing to pay a little more...

Ecover your washing up

Advantages: Nice smell. Nice price. Simple packaging. Good for the environment.
Disadvantages: None.

...When shopping in Sainsburys earlier this week I thought I'd try a washing-up liquid I hadn't tried before. Plus now I'm trying to be more environmentally friendly! So I bought Ecover ecological wahing-up liquid with lemon and aloe vera. I paid £0.89p for a 500ml. It's not as pricey as what I thought with it being an ecological washing-up liquid. PACKAGING <><><><><> The washing-up liquid comes in a plastic bottle with a light green flip lid. It's clear plastic so you can see the contents. On the front of the bottle is the Ecover name with a green leaf. On the back there is array of information for you to read. What I really like about this bottle is its simplistic look. There's no fancy pictures or things on it to lure you into looking at it! It's pure, simple and nice to look at. The writing is a tad small, so make...

Ecover... Where... There On The Stair

Advantages: Environmentally friendly, genuinely kind to hands, excellent cleaning ability.
Disadvantages: Not available everywhere, supermarkets don't allow you to refill.

...Our dishwasher is out of action. It's sitting in the garage feeling rather lonely. One day, when I've sorted out the conservatory/extension/outhouse, and it's become the laundry, and there's room in the kitchen, our dishwasher will be pressed into service once again. Until then ? and at the Murphy rate of house improvement it may be some time ? we are back to washing up by hand. Hard work, isn't it? Guess which washing up liquid we're using? Ecover. Ecover are probably the most famous of the "environmentally-friendly" manufacturers of household detergents. Among their products you will find: cream cleaners; multi-surface cleaners; washing powder; fabric conditioner; bathroom and toilet cleaners; dishwasher tablets. They've been making them since 1979. And they've been making them in the world's very first ecological factory. It...

Review of Ecover Washing Up Liquid

Ecover might look bland but it's an impressive "green" cleaner

Advantages: Cleans effectively and is kind to the environment
Disadvantages: Probably not antibacterial, doesn't disinfect

...The Belgium based company Ecover has existed since the late 1970s and has developed a range of cleaning products (these include body cleansers such hand wash, laundry products and household cleaners such as squirty kitchen sprays and this multi-surface cleaner for what the bottle describes as "hard washable surfaces"), all with the intention that they can be used without harming the environment. To this end, four of the six highlighted features listed on the multi-surface cleaner bottle tell the buyer that the product has a plant based fragrance, is based on plant and mineral ingredients, will quickly and completely biodegrade and will have the minimum impact on aquatic life. (I presume this to mean that, when you pour the dirty water down the drain, the ingredients won't harm the sealife when the waste water makes it back to the ocean...

Sparkley Smiles...

Advantages: cheap and fun
Disadvantages: none

...Colgate Smiles toothpaste....... Jack is now 2 years old and I have been brushing his teeth regularly since they first popped up at around 10 months. However I have only recently changed to using this toothpaste as the age range on it if from 2 years to 6 years of age so I couldn't have really been using this for Jack any sooner than now. The bonus of buying this toothpaste in the last few weeks is that Tesco have had around 20pence off the price so it has been selling for £1 a price that I find rather good seeing as a whole tube does last a good month or so. Jack brushes his teeth morning and evening and loves using this toothpaste. One reason for him liking it so much is the fact that on the packaging it has pictures of Shrek and other characters from the film. Jack hasn't seen the film but he does like to look...
