* Edinburgh airport

Advantages: good airlines , nice size
Disadvantages: transportation to the airport

...Edinburgh international airport I have only used this airport the once as I tend to use Glasgow because it?s easier to get to, as I do not drive! Getting there? I?m not sure how to get there by road but you can get the train and if you get off at Inverkeithing or Haymarket there is a bus link to take you to the airport alternatively you can get the mega bus Facilities and shops ? Edinburgh is a nice airport and it?s a nice size not too small but big enough . There is a boots, accessories , a borders book shop , 2 coffee shops Café Nero and Costa among other shops and of course it being a BAA Airport world duty free which you can collect word points on. Airlines ? Easy jet is the airline I used when flying from here , Edinburgh?s main carrier however is BMI ,klm , Recently Ryan air have added lots more routes , British Airways...

Getting High in Edinburgh

Advantages: Convenient location...for me
Disadvantages: Lack of destinations

...If you're flying anywhere from Scotland, the chances are that you'll have to use Glasgow or Prestwick Airport - the latter particularly when using Ryanair. This can be a pain if you live in the East of the country as I do. It's particularly galling when planes are constantly flying directly overhead to and from EDINBURGH AIRPORT which is only 6-7 miles from my house. So, when I saw an offer from flyglobespan.com, a new low-cost operator, for scheduled flights to Barcelona for less than £100 return, I booked up quicker than a greyhound passing a Korean restaurant. ? THE PAST ? The present Edinburgh Airport was opened by Queen Elizabeth I/II, in 1977. The airfield that was to become Edinburgh Airport was the site of a Royal Flying Corps aerodrome. In 1915, the aerodrome was placed adjacent to the main East Coast railway...

Flying From A Tartan Airport

Advantages: Nice departures lounge
Disadvantages: Domestic baggage claim didn't appear secure

...Recently my girlfriend and I travelled to Edinburgh for a short weekend and as I was able to get discounted flights, we decided to fly up. Edinburgh Turnhouse is situated about 8 miles outside Edinburgh city centre and is the only commercial airport for the Scottish Capital. Operated by BAA, the same people who run Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted to name a few, it was originally built as an RAF base during WWI. Today it sees flights operating not only to destinations throughout the UK but also to the rest of Europe and North America. We arrived early on the Saturday morning and as we were on-board a domestic flight, did not have to worry about clearing customs. This worked to our advantage as at Edinburgh, domestic arrivals re not separated from departures and we were able to explore the facilities to be prepared for our return...

Alicante Airport

Advantages: Good location, decent amenities
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...I use Alicante airport for my annual break in Spain and find it is convenient and fairly easy to use. It is situated just outside Alicante on the Costa Blanca, around 46.5km from Benidorm. It is within driving distance of Valencia, around two hours and 179km. Arrivals You would probably fly to Alicante if you were staying in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Teulada. It is popular with budget airlines such as Easyjet and Bmibaby and there are flights from many regional airports in the UK such as East Midlands, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle and Stansted to name a few. There are around ten car hire companies who operate out of the airport including the big names like Avis, Europcar and Hertz, these desks are located in the arrivals hall and can get busy at peak times. There are also local car hire companies who...

chicago airport

Advantages: Gets me from A to b efficiently
Disadvantages: It's an airport!

...Chicago airport. On a recent visit to san Diego, we had to have a stop in Chicago airport for a couple of hours...most of my travelling seems to be spent in airports! It was the busiest airport in the United States until Atlanta became the busiest and it was apparently voted best airport in North America in 2000...that's 8 years ago so i don't know which airport has been winning since then. The airport is 20 miles from downtown Chicago but since we weren't actaully going to Chicago we didn't actally leave the airport so I can't comment on the transport links. **The Terminals** Of course when stuck in an airport these are the places you see most often. There are 4 terminals and strangely enough these are Terminals 1, 2, 3 and Terminal 5 which is the International Terminal...whatever happened to number 4? All of the terminals are...

Edinburgh - it Stinks

Advantages: Lots to see and do, the city contains some stunning buildings
Disadvantages: The roadworks, the tramworks, the bagpipes!

...I have been living in Edinburgh now for almost five years, and in that time I have gone from loving the place to desperately wanting to leave. I am, however, marooned here for the foreseeable future, due to a combination of factors, the most obvious one being sheer bad luck. We moved to Edinburgh from London for several reasons, the main one being my husband was working in the city at the time. Our daughter was due to leave her special school and the mainstream options available to her in London weren?t great. Actually, that?s being generous ? they were hopeless. For several years Edinburgh had been portrayed as the best place to live for quality of life, and my husband, having worked in the city in the past, was ready for a change ? so we made the decision to move 400 miles north. So what?s right with Edinburgh? The thing...

3 2 1 lift off!

Advantages: See review.
Disadvantages: See review.

...Having flown to and from many airports I have seen the really good and the really bad, I would place Edinburgh airport somewhere in the middle. It is an easy airport to get in and out of when travelling to and fro it by car with the sight exception of perhaps a half hour traffic build up at peak times the road in and out is a very good access road. The airport itself is a fairly busy airport even though it is on the small well shall we say compact side. The staff at the airport has always been very friendly and ready to help any time I have flown from there (around 8 times now). The Airport has never got too busy to cope in my experiences with them and I have never found myself to be stuck wandering round the airport with little or no idea as to what is happening with flights, which has happened to me on many occasion...

Come fly with me

Advantages: Local
Disadvantages: Check in hell

...Thank you for choosing Edinburgh airport for the interest of safety please ensure no baggage is left unattended. With recent events still in everyone's mind Edinburgh Airport now has armed police and bollards at the front of the terminal. I have flown from EDI airport before and after the recent events at our neighbouring airport in Glasgow. Getting to the airport From Edinburgh - Frequent low cost direct buses from the city centre (Waverly Bridge) - Taxi will cost approximately £20 from the city centre and if you choose to take the car you can expect to be stuck in traffic for approximately 30-40mins at peak times. Airlink 100 is the bus that runs between Edinburgh airport and Waverley Bridge - Cost is £3.00 each way and the bus starts @ Edinburgh airport at 04.45hrs and runs every 10mins until approximately 01.00hrs From...

Limited Facilities, Nice Enough Airport

Advantages: good location for northern Poland, quiet, small,
Disadvantages: very limited shopping and catering

...Gdansk Airport (officially named Lech Walesa Airport) is located in the village/suburb of Rebiechowo within about a half hour's minutes drive from most areas of Tri-City (many outlying suburbs will be closer, though). Public transport links are good to Gdansk itself, but much worse to Gdynia or Sopot. Licences taxis are widely available and would normally cost something in the region of 60PLN plus, but this vastly varies depending on where you actually going. The airport has served international flights (to Scandinavia and Germany) for years now, but has became much more busy in the recent years (and in particularly with an advent of cheap flights in the form of Ryanair and Wizzair) In addition to several daily commuter-type flights to Warsaw, decent connections to Germany (including Frankfurt, Bremen, Hamburg and Munich...

Review of Gdansk airport

As good as it gets these days

Advantages: User friendly, decent service & staff, flight choice
Disadvantages: Security can be slow, location due to volume of traffic on mian roads

...Large airports have their advantages, a large selection of airline carriers fly to a huge selection of worldwide destinations. However large airports have their disadvantages such as being not particularly user friendly. Consider getting to terminal 4 at London Heathrow from terminal 1 with only minutes to catch your flight & you'll understand what I mean. Expierence the friendly shop & restaurant staff who don't even utter the words 'please' or 'thank you', you would be as well carrying out the transaction with a machine!! Smaller airports can be more user friendly but lack a choice of destinations to fly to which restricts their use; it would be nice to get the 'happy medium'. This where I think Edinburgh Airport has got the balance just right, you can fly across the Atlantic, Europe & domestically without the hassle of a large...
