Stylish country in Edinburgh city

Advantages: Quiet, friendly, superb hospitality
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...Arriving in Edinburgh, full of enthusiasm for the sporting job ahead, we were focused on supporting New Zealand All Blacks in an effort to beat Scotland in the 2007 Rugby World Cup. I'd booked the accommodation months in advance and told anyone who would listen that I was incredulous at the price we had to pay on match- night to stay in Edinburgh after the game. Channings Hotel changed our ''rugby'' weekend focus the minute we walked in the door. First impressions are of truly upmarket accommodation. The reception is tidily tucked to one side with the comfortable sofas as the main feature in this ever so important welcoming area to any hotel. We arrived after staying several nights in hostels and I have to say we felt like we had arrived at Buckingham Palace. Parched from travelling we asked for a cup of coffee as we were too...

Edinburgh's Hideous Hidden City

Advantages: Fascinating
Disadvantages: A little claustrophobic

...Edinburgh is an amazing city. For my money, it's architecturally the most beautiful in Britain and it has a history that is truly fascinating. I go there every August for the comedy festival and normally see only the shops, the bars and the comedy venues. This year, however, I was determined to get up earlier than usual and give myself time to take some of the tourist trails. After scouring the net and reading some guide books, my mate and I decided that one thing we must do was take the guided tour of Edinburgh's hidden underground vaults run by Mercat Tours. Edinburgh's underground vaults have only recently been uncovered after lying abandoned and full of waste for many years. Now open to the public on accompanied viewings only, accessible only via huge locked doors which look like any others in the city's winding old streets...

Review of Hidden Underground Vaults Tour, Edinburgh

Edinburgh City of Dreams.

Advantages: To Experience the Ancient & Modern beauty of this wonderful city.
Disadvantages: Only if you are disabled or in a wheelchair.

...Almost all my life have I lived in the South of England, so a journey to Edinburgh was to become a great experience. I had been planning to book myself into a days training course with Tony Stockwell, a well known psychic & medium of television fame, and well respected by many. Not many classes are available throughout the year, so when this one came up, based in Edinburgh, I booked a ticket straight away. I am actually living in Cornwall, so when I found a cheap flight from Newquay to Edinburgh, I paid for the ticket there and then. The flight only took one hour. I had booked a 5 day return. This way I was able to travell the day before, rise early to give me plenty of time to walk up the hill, one of the seven hills that this Capital has been built on. The flight was interesting, thanks to the clear skies and small...

Review of Getting around in Edinburgh

Edinburgh - it Stinks

Advantages: Lots to see and do, the city contains some stunning buildings
Disadvantages: The roadworks, the tramworks, the bagpipes!

..."Trainspotting" for instance. Finally There is a lot to love about Edinburgh ? honestly! However I would urge anyone considering a break to the city to wait until the tramworks are completed sometime in 2011. They are blighting the whole city and making it a pretty unpleasant place to live in. If you can put up with the noise and the hassle then good for you ? but I would heartily recommend you hang fire and instead visit Glasgow if you want a city break in Scotland some time between now and the official tram opening date. So do come - but not for a couple of years!...

Edinburgh Playhouse - The Pride of the City!

Advantages: Top Entertainment
Disadvantages: Booking Fee's

...I must thank those who have taken the time to comment with such a high regard for this theatre. Up until last year I was a proud member of The Playhouse management team where I helped the building achieve an "Investor in People" standard. We are all very proud of our committment to the highest level of customer service. The staff are a family of talented individuals who love their jobs and are happy to attend to every customers need. The performances you can expect range from modern day musicals to top music acts such as Girls Aloud and even The Rolling Stones!!! Visit the Live Nation website to learn more. The building is now 77 years old and was originally built as the largest cinema in Europe. It is a whopping 3000+ capacity based on the design of the Roxy Theatre in New York City! It remains the largest all seat venue in...

edinburgh great place for a weekend break

Advantages: great city
Disadvantages:

...Edinburgh is the perfect place for a weekend break within the UK. Don't expect a wild nightlife or anything unless you want to search high and low but what you will get is a nice peaceful relasing break amoungst a beautiful back drop. It is a cheap city compared to London and has plenty to see such as the castle - obviously and plenty more asides. I went with a group of 5 friends and all of us agreed we would love to go back - we hired a car so that we could make the most out of our trip and we even found a beach which was secluded and perfect to get away from all those tourists on princess street. I wouod recommend edinburgh to everyone that wants a weekend break as it is cheap and a brill place to spend some time....

Exotica in Edinburgh

Advantages: Fun day out for all the family
Disadvantages: Can be depressing to see the animals cooped up, steep hill

...- along with half of Edinburgh, as it was very busy - the joy of school holidays I suppose. Location Edinburgh Zoo is situated in Corstorphine, in the west of the city. It's on the main A8 road and is well signposted. Buses run past here fairly frequently too including Citylink coaches from Glasgow and Stirling, and Lothian Buses routes 12, 26, 31 and X48. The 26 has a particularly good frequency from the city centre. Parking is also available but costs £3.50. The car park is located on a hill and you may find yourself waiting in a queue before a space becomes available. Admission We arrived at the zoo at 11.30 am. The car park was heaving and there was a huge queue of people waiting to get into the zoo. To be fair to Edinburgh Zoo, there were plenty of staff directing people towards various queues to pay to get in. There was a far...

Breaking Dawn - spoken text

Advantages: easy to listen to, great story
Disadvantages: none

...For those of you who aren't familiar with the saga that is gripping the hearts of just about every teenage girl out there,The Twilight Saga is the story of a young girl, Bella, who is in her Junior/Senior year of high school, meets a boy and falls in love. But Edward is a vampire. When I first found out about the film which came out last year I decided to buy the book, then realising there were a series of books I brought them all. My collection is now stacked with everything to do with twilight, and being as old as I am I do realise that that is a little bit sad. BUT Twilight is well written - in this case, well heard, and very enjoyable. Breaking Dawn is the adult of the saga, being the final book it begins with the marriage of Bella and Edward, goes on to describe their honeymoon and the realization that Bella becomes pregnant. It...

Take a Break

Advantages: Good all round magazine
Disadvantages: I wish the real life stories were sometimes more uplifting

...I have to apologize in advance (lol, good start!!) as my review seems to have taken on, more of a 'how to make money from take a break' review but only since reading the smaller print have I noticed how much there is to be made. I have also included the regulars you can expect from take a break. Design --------- Front cover jam packed detailing mainly the real life stories with photo's to be featured in the issue, and usually displays the tempting amount of money that could be won, and in this particular issue stands at a total of £32,470 in the form of cars, cash and holidays. THE REGULARS Take a break St. ---------------------- The first double spread page, entitled 'Take a Break St.' is laiden with snippets and small accompanying photos sent in by readers of usually cute, funny or just unusual moments in their life...

A brilliant aparthotel in Edinburgh

Advantages: Lovely well furbished apartments in a great location.
Disadvantages: 5 star means expensive... but you do get what you paid for!

...Medfia including Sky Sports, a DVD recorder, Hi-Fi and free broadband access. There is of course the fully fitted kitchen which includes a dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge and oven. There is a spacious bedroom and a bathroom with shover over bath. The Superior apartments will be more nicely decorated and you will find a LCD TV with DVD player in the bedroom, a steam resisting mirror in the bathroom and a speaker in the bathroom connected to the Hi-Fi in the sitting room. As you can tell from reading, these are pratically a home away from home! I first came across The Knight Residence on TripAdvisor. I have been to Edinburgh a fair few times now on short breaks and often stay at an aparthotel named Fountain Court apartments. When reading the reviews for Fountain Court I came across The Knight Residence which was #1 on Trip...
