Edward Scissorhands

Advantages: -----
Disadvantages: -----

...Here is my review which doubles up as my English Coursework so here goes!!!! Plot Summary The film is a fairytale type film about a creation called Edward that was never finished by his creator. The part of Edward that was never finished was his hands, so instead of Edward having normal hands with fingers, Edward has scissors in their place. Edward lives alone in the same gothic castle that he was created in, and hasn?t been outside the gates of the castle at all. However one day Edward is surprised to find that the ?Avon Lady? (Peg Boggs) turns up at his castle trying to sell Avon products. Peg Boggs then takes Edward to live with her family after she saw how Edward was living. From this point the film is pretty basic and we see Edward trying to adapt to normal living after being alone all of his life. When Edward is living in...

Edward Scissorhans: the DVD cut

Advantages: Good plot, and some excellent visuals
Disadvantages: Some of the acting

...As a woman reads to her granddaughter one winters night, she recalls the story of a strange character from a nearby gothic mansion who she once fell in love with. Kim is now elderly and looks longingly out of the window. When her mother Peg discovered a boy who has scissors for hands living alone in the mansion, she brings him down into the town to live with the family. Instantly, the local neighbourhood are intruigued by Edward, and set about finding out about the mystery guest. As it happens, Edward is a creation of the elderly inventor who owned the mansion on the hill, and before he had a chance to give Edward prosthetic hands, he died. But Edward's flare for inventive haircuts and gardening make him the perfect houseguest and he finds himself in demand by the local housewives. However, a brush with the law, and a proclaimation...

...). You create a list of at least ten (though many more is advisable) of the films you want to watch. The company then sends you the top films on your list as they become available. For example your list contains 1. Film A 2. Film B 3. Film C 4. Film D 5. Film E Let?s assume that film B is already out; this means you would get film A and C? Edward Scissorhands

Advantages: Elfman's most magical creation and a true masterpiece
Disadvantages: The Tom Jones song at the end

...By the turn of the 1990s, Tim Burton had already sealed his credentials as an imaginative and quirky director with films like Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice and Batman. Therefore it was only to be expected that his next film would be equally quirky and dark, and that it certainly was. Starring Johnny Depp along with Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest, and Anthony Michael Hall, with Vincent Price as "The Inventor," Edward Scissorhands is a fairy-tale like fantasy about a strange artificial man with scissors for hands. From his lofty castle on top of a hill, he is whisked away by a cosmetic's saleswoman straight into the suburbs where he is greeted with interest and wonder. It won't be long however when people start turning against him due to his naïve trust in others and his sharp scissorhands that cause a few unintentional moments...

Review of Edward Scissorhands - Original Soundtrack

If you go down to The Woods today...

Advantages: Pace and plot
Disadvantages: Well-crafted rather than literary genius

...Watching his father die, Paul Copeland remembers spying on him in the woods. Only once. Many Saturdays his father would ''go fishing'' and not take his son with him. Paul probably always knew that it was to the woods his father went, because he sometimes went there too. On this one occasion he did follow, and spied. He watched his father digging in the earth, and saw the tears, and the anger. Now Paul is all grown up: a prosecutor by profession, he is raising a daughter alone following the death of his wife. He is helped by family?his wife's sister and her husband. He also gets the kind of 'slack' that lone fathers do get ? unlike lone mothers, who labour under a presumption that their being alone is somehow their fault, or maybe just that they are expected to be better at it. A body is found. And Paul finds himself helping...

Edward the Very Useful Engine

Advantages: Great for Thomas and Train Fans
Disadvantages: None

...Edward the very useful engine is a book based on the Thomas TV series. The front cover of the book has a picture of Edward and Thomas and there is a purple banner above the picture with the title of the book in yellow lettering. The back cover of the book is also purple and has a yellow square with smaller pictures of a few other titles available in the collection. This edition is in hard back. THE STORY The book starts by telling us a bit about some of the engines on the Island of Sodor. Gordon was good at pulling the Express, Percy was good at carrying the mail and Edward was good at being a back engine. It tells us that when the engines were heavy Edward would couple up behind and help them push. Edward is an old engine and some of the other engines thought he was unreliable. Gordon and Percy thought that he should...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Norwegian Wood

Advantages: many
Disadvantages: none

...The first thing I should say about my reading of Norwegian Wood was that in a single particular it was not faithful to the Japanese print run, which is that mine was a single printed and bound edition, and not the red-half, green-half you might come across.... having got that out of the way, I can tell you about the contents. Norwegian Wood is a rather condensed moment of poised literary brilliance. I approached it with trepidation, since it was so widely lauded and applauded and that, in the spirit of wilful cynicism, always throws a spanner into my appreciative works. But in this case, I was willing to go with the crowd, not in a loud, baying way, because it's simply not the kind of book that I feel merits that kind of reaction; it's a quiet, thoughtful, lyrical read, and as such deserves a quiet, thoughtful, admiring reaction...

Whatever goes on Under Milk Wood?!!

Advantages: An unusual but highly interesting play for radio
Disadvantages: None

...for the South Wales Evening Post. It was at some point during 1933 that his poetry was gaining recognition but by then Dylan had moved to London and was fast gaining a reputation as being a drunkard. Like many accomplished poets Dylan based his work on what he `knew` and that included his beloved Wales, childhood, lost innocence, life and death and a huge helping of nostalgia. Dylan wrote his most famous radio play `Under Milk Wood` over a number of years. Some say that a visit to Newquay was the inspiration for the tale, others report that Dylan wrote the play as his stance against the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima, it was his way of saying to the world that there was still much beauty in our troubled world. Under Milk Wood beckons us to tune in to the ramblings of the Llareggub village ( a seaside village ) folk going about...

Diamond review  Will you be the next Tiger Woods?

Advantages: Great online play
Disadvantages: Have to buy extra courses.

..., this doesn't apply to me as I am equally as bad at this game whatever the conditions. Creating your golfer In order to play Tiger Woods to its full potential, you need to first create your golfer. There are two ways of doing this, the simplest way is to go through a series of attributes for skin colour, hair colour/style, eye, colour style, etc. This is relatively simple to do but doesn't create a golfer that bears much resemblance to yourself. Tiger Woods 10 uses something called Photo Game Face which has appeared in the last 2 or 3 versions of the game. Photo Game Face allows you to upload front and side face photos of yourself to easportsworld.com and the game will then try and create your face based on the facial features on your photos. I found this wasn't all that accurate as my golfer looked orange, like he'd spent half...
