The adventures of Robinson Crusoe
Advantages: rich in symbolism, giving a good insight into the zietgeist of the time
Disadvantages: slow paced and often dull, Crusoe is often hard to sympathise with
...Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, depicts an 18th century trader gripped by a wanderlust who finds himself shipwrecked on a tropical island where he is forced to cultivate hidden survival skills, re-evaluating his own values in the process. The story is told retrospectively by Crusoe and written in a style which is extremely dry and thorough, and much of it is very tedious to read through.
Crusoe busies himself not just with the business of survival but with technological and economic advancement and the pursuit of luxury, all of which is documented exhaustively. The reader is subjected to endless painstaking descriptions of Crusoe's trial and error attempts to bake clay pots, breed goats and sow corn, interspersed with jaunts across the deserted island as Crusoe does his best to stave off loneliness and boredom. The often crushing...

Apple iphone 3G - WOW...!!!
Advantages: constant updates, very sleek,
Disadvantages: worried about scratching it
...around your phone without having to scroll through tons of menu's. It's all just one click away.
Apart from the usual icons you would expect to have on most phones i.e. text, contacts...there is an icon called App store...pure genius who ever came up with this idea, this lets you download ANY icon about pretty much ANYTHING.
I would say it also probably the main feature of the phone too. It doesn't matter if your in the stocks and shares market, love eating out at restaurants, you need a to do list for reminders, you like to play a few games, check the weather, want the currency rates for your next holiday, can't find the public toilets, are lost in the middle of know where...there will be an App to help you out.
The sound quality on the phone is very good, obviously you have headphone too as it is an ipod aswell.
The iphone 3G is a huge...

iPhone 3G
Advantages: Looks, interface, quality, fun
Disadvantages: Camera could be better
...The iPhone 3G is (almost) all the phone you'll ever need. Don't listen to the iPhone knockers, it's a fantastic piece of kit, it's so slick and easy to use that it even makes me use it to call people more than I ever normally would (I am a man after all so phone calls are short and not always sweet!).
The build quality is excellent, I've had mine for a few months now and there isn't a scratch on any surface, it (almost) never crashes (occasionally Safari crashes after a heavy browsing session, and some 3rd party apps crash from time to time).
The interface is REALLY slick. All of the built -in applications and most of the 3rd party ones you can download from the App Store (more later) integrate with each other very well. For example, if you have a friend's postal address in their Contact, start typing their name in the GPS...

Apple Iphone 3G 8GB
Advantages: A great piece of hardware with unlimited possiblilities.
Disadvantages: Can't delete pre installed apps
...I have been a customer of O2 for many years now and so after resisting as long as I could I finally gave in and got the Apple Iphone 3G on contract. I have to say I have no regrets!
The Iphone 3G is a completley touchscreen phone with internet capabilities. Not only can the phone connect to wifi signals it is also permanently connected via your network provider, all the while you have signal anyway! I find that the speed of the internet on this phone is sufficient for what I use it for (train times, facebook, emails etc), it get's a bit faster when connected to wifi rather then your network providers internet but to be honest I find the normal 3G speed is fine for me.
The great thing about the phone is the applications you can add; the phone can be completly tailored to you and becomes unique for everyone! There are plenty of free apps...

Edward Scissorhands
Advantages: -----
Disadvantages: -----
...Here is my review which doubles up as my English Coursework so here goes!!!!
Plot Summary
The film is a fairytale type film about a creation called Edward that was never finished by his creator. The part of Edward that was never finished was his hands, so instead of Edward having normal hands with fingers, Edward has scissors in their place. Edward lives alone in the same gothic castle that he was created in, and hasn?t been outside the gates of the castle at all. However one day Edward is surprised to find that the ?Avon Lady? (Peg Boggs) turns up at his castle trying to sell Avon products. Peg Boggs then takes Edward to live with her family after she saw how Edward was living. From this point the film is pretty basic and we see Edward trying to adapt to normal living after being alone all of his life. When Edward is living in...

Edward Scissorhans: the DVD cut
Advantages: Good plot, and some excellent visuals
Disadvantages: Some of the acting
...As a woman reads to her granddaughter one winters night, she recalls the story of a strange character from a nearby gothic mansion who she once fell in love with. Kim is now elderly and looks longingly out of the window. When her mother Peg discovered a boy who has scissors for hands living alone in the mansion, she brings him down into the town to live with the family. Instantly, the local neighbourhood are intruigued by Edward, and set about finding out about the mystery guest. As it happens, Edward is a creation of the elderly inventor who owned the mansion on the hill, and before he had a chance to give Edward prosthetic hands, he died. But Edward's flare for inventive haircuts and gardening make him the perfect houseguest and he finds himself in demand by the local housewives. However, a brush with the law, and a proclaimation...

Apple iPhone 3G
Advantages: A great phone
Disadvantages: None, in my opinion!
...So, as I?m sure everyone on here who has an iPhone has done, here?s my review on this little beauty?just by that you can already guess, I?m a fan of this!
After my last contract with o2 expired three months back, I had the choice to renew everything and seeing as there was a distinct lack of phones available with o2 (in hindsight, I would have perhaps opted to look at the phones available with contracts provided by the Carphone Warehouse) I bit the bullet and went for the iPhone 3G 8GB version?the 3GS was available, but I?m not made of money and lets be honest, to pay that much extra for a bit more storage space, voice control and a video camera is not worth it in my honest opinion.
I?m sure you?re all aware of what it looks like, but if not it?s a touch screen operated phone which is a glossy black little number. A smooth back cover...

Robinson's triumph over his situation, over nature, over the cannibals, over himself."ii Robinson

criticized Defoe's Robinson Crusoe for being a allegory of Western (British) colonialism or imperialism,

iPhone 3G review.
Advantages: As stated.
Disadvantages: As stated.
...to type something is surprisingly easy to use & within a few weeks, I began using my thumbs to type. The keyboard can also be changed to suit other languages.
I have stuck on an InvisibleShield to prevent it from getting scratched, without having to keep it in a case, as it is quite delicate. I have been very careful with it & it has worked very well for me.
Now for the the flaws....
With the Youtube feature, sometimes it does not connect to the internet even when Safari browser is in working order. The 3G symbol must be apparant for it to connect whereas with Safari, only the signal must be sufficient. This is quite annoying, as the 3G symbol is unapparant quite often.
Can't really fault the AppStore, only that some of the applications that look really good are quite pricey :(
Maps can't always connect to the internet, but...
