...INTRO I first decided to get an Egg Credit Card to take advantage of a 0% Interest Balance Transfer (BT) about 2-3 years ago. This was so that I could buy a £1,000 laptop (Samsung Q35). The interest free period was only 6 months but that's all I needed to pay off the balance. I think the BT fee was about 2.5% back then. It's a bit higher now, circa 3% in line with other credit card providers. They also have a 0% on purchases offer on the same card, at the same time alongside the balance transfer offer but this is usually shorter than the balance transfer so if you use both and you don't clear the balance before the end of the 0% interest on purchases period, you end up paying interest on the purchases spending unless you clear the entire balance as this is a sneaky tactic that most BT cards use. Egg great card maybe

Advantages: Competative APR, easy to set up, statements straight to your email
Disadvantages: Difficult to know whether your instructions have been carried out

...I've seen a few opinions on this website about the egg card and felt that i had to write about my own experience. I have an internet only credit card account with egg which was dead easy to set up but not so easy to maintain!! They offer very competative rates (only 10.9% apr for internet accounts) which encouraged me to apply in the first place. I've had this credit card with them for 3 months. For the last two months they have debited the wrong amount out of my account via the direct debit system. I've specifically stated on the website on the special form that i wish to pay the minimum payment only unless otherwise specified, but they have now taken 3 times the minimum payment two months running!! This has caused me to go overdrawn and incur heavy charges. So far they have not refunded me but i only wrote to them a week ago...

...my name as I have other joint cards with my husband anyway but you can have a second account holder free of charge. I was given a generous credit limit and was able to transfer a balance from another card online also. At the time of my application Egg were offering 0% on balance transfers and purchases for 6 months. They are offering a similar scheme at this time until the end of May where you can have 0% interest on purchases until 1st Nov 2001 and on balance transfers until 1st January 2003. The standard rate at the moment for existing Egg customers is 12.9% apr. This rate is still very competitive, believe me I have a deck full of these things. They also offer cash back of 0.5%. ...I couldn't be happier with the service I have received from Egg. Their credit card was the first of their products I applied for - I have since got an Egg loan (very quick and easy, excellent interest rate, excellent terms) and an internet only Egg savings account. The credit card has a very low interest rate (10.9%) and fantastic monthly pay back terms. I can make a minimum payment, pay off the full balance, or pay any other amount I choose - I just log onto their site, access my account and select the option. ...ok ok so i said i would never have a credit card but realised this year for the first time in my life i would need one. i went to my bank first of all and other banks and picked up lots of literature.. some of them you could pay on line and some you couldnt. I decided i would like to go for egg for the reasons, they dont send you a statement through the post it appears on the internet which is where i seem to be most of the day, so this would suit me down to the ground. As a poor student, i needed something else to have to fall back on. The egg card only takes £5 minum payment or 2% of the outstanding amount which i find is brilliant while im at university and will be bumped up when i go out to work. ...I have had my Egg card for about 8 months now and I have been very impressed, in particular the interest rate is the best around. I had a balance on another credit card which I transferred to my egg card and I now pay a lot less in interest payments. The Egg card has no annual fee, but even better it actually gives you cashback on goods that you purchase (1% on most, 2% on associate purchases). One of the great things about this card is that you can view you balance or any of your statements online (infact you can only manage your account online), you also make payments into your account by direct debit which you setup online and can change each month. The application for the credit card was very simple and mainly done online. Overall this is the best credit card available....

...I've had my Egg credit card for over a year now. I use it as my main credit card due to the cash back and low APR - however I do use my Barclaycard for electrical items thanks to it's extended warranty. On the whole, I'm pretty pleased with Egg. Their service is constantly improving. Their interest rate is low although it isn't the lowest around anymore. I like the whole on-line banking thing too as I find it very convenient. I do have a few complaints about the Egg site however: My statements are created on the 18th of each month, on the 18th all my transactions disappear and I normally have to wait for about 3 days before I can actually view my statement. The site isn't that user friendly but I'm used to it now. It's a vast improvement on how it was originally though! On the plus side - they've scrapped their charges...

...I have my mortgage with Egg and was so impressed that I also have a credit card now. The application was online and all transactions are done online also You can track how much you owe and change bank account details as you like. You can also use the card online to buy stuff and you even get cashback. The web site is infomative but can be a bit slow and could be improved. Account servicing allows you to see all egg accounts at once and there is a secure login procedure to make sure it is safe from prying eyes. The only gripe is that i would like to be able to pay money off my card at any time (Not just once a month) and this cannot be done at the site. or at least I have not found it yet if you can. With a good interest rate and the ability to manage my account this is a good option for me and has allowed me to take...

...I have had an Egg card for about 3 months. The advantages are: a) Purchases are interest free for the first 6 months. If, as I do, you put virtually all your spend on the card, this can equate to a tidy saving either over other cards or in interest earned if you are canny and put the spend into a high interest account for that time b) you earn 1% cashback on all purcahses - 2% from online purchases in the Egg Zone shopping mall c) Management of the account from sign up through to day to day management and payment of the account is done online.
