...Having just sold my 1990 "Lotus Racing Green" Lotus Elan S1, I thought I'd share my experience of owing this ground-breaking car. The Lotus brief was a two-seater roadster that would appeal to the American market. With this in mind, it's easy to see why the cabin appears so spacious - American's don't like to be cramped! The windscreen is shallow-angled and you get the feeling of being in a much larger car as the dashboard stetches away in front of you. The driving position is "proper sportscar", low slung but extremely comfortable - the drivers seat on some examples can benefit from minor TLC having been subjected to ten years or more of use. The comforting smell of fibreglass as you enter the cabin is one common to all Lotus', but on particularly damp days, can be overridden by the gentle waft of damp carpet! I've never met...

There are numerous models and makes on the market and I had great fun researching the right one for our family. I knew I wanted a dual fuel model with a gas hob and electric oven. I love the look and build quality of the traditional aga, but felt the price was out of my league. If you have Sky or Freeview you can pick up some of these new stations on your TV but that is not very portable if you want to listen to the radio in the bath for example. There are some attractive radios out there, such as the wooden Pure Evoke and the trendily retro Roberts' ones that sold for £80-100. They looked great but I didn't feel I could justify the cost. I was on the look out for a cylinder mower, as these tend to come with rear rollers that allow you to make stripes in your grass. I was also told it would be ideal for my medium sized garden. The Qualcast Elan 32 was down to £89.99 from £99.99. For what it did I thought it was a great bargain! However, u can probably get this for about £70 / £80 now on the internet. I could have bought a similar 'Pure' model for £15.00 more with FM reception as well, but I decided that if I wanted to listen to FM I had a number of radios at home that could easily fit the bill. ...We bought a Rangemaster Elan 90 dual fuel cooker as part of a fitted kitchen we had installed in December 2006 - It has not disappointed us. We take food seriously, enjoy cooking and entertaining, so wanted something which both looks the part and does the job. Whilst we were looking for our new cooker, a sales person told us that with this one, you can cook six chickens at once! So far, we haven't had the need to put that into practice, but don' t doubt that she was correct - six big chickens at that, I think six was a conservative estimate.
