...When I was younger I used to go to Eldon Square in the school holidays with my grandma and we would meet my sister and my nephews in Newcastle and go shopping. Therefore, for me Eldon Square has some happy memories as well as some great shops :) Eldon Square is an indoor shopping centre located in the heart of Newcastle and as I am now studying in Newcastle I have been here quite often recently. Eldon Square first opened in 1976 and serves a catchment area of 2.7 million people. There are a number of entrances but I usually enter at the one on Northumberland Street. This leads straight to the shops. It is lovely walking into Eldon Square on a cold day, as it is really warm (so especially good at this time of year!) shopping in eldon square

Advantages: many shops and places to get food, heart of newcastle
Disadvantages: are some better shops elsewhere in newcastle

...Eldon Square is where most of Newcastle's shops can be found. It has two main entrances: one opposite McDonald's on Northumberland Street, and one right next to Grey's Monument, though you can also enter it through Topshop, Boots and a few sneaky little entrances that I can't always find. Once you're in anyway, there are loads of shops in there, probably about a hundred but don't quote me on it. For example, there is a La Senza, Topshop, Levi's, Marks and Spencers, River Island, Claire's Accessories, Faith, Repubic, USC, many phone shops etc., as well as the biggest leisure centre in Newcastle: Eldon Leisure Centre. There is also a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut Express, as well as Gregg's and a fish and chip restaurant, so you can eat between shops. So why do I like Eldon Square? Because I like shopping of course. Let's go shopping

Advantages: Lots of shops
Disadvantages: Not good if you want to walk in the sunshine

...Eldon Square Situated in the heart of Newcastle City Centre, with entrances in many locations, this indoor shopping centre houses an array of varied shops, restaurants and cafes. The shopping centre is open 7 days a week, with late night shopping on a Thursday, meaning it closes at 8pm. Be there or be Square

Advantages: Indoors. Good range of quality shops.
Disadvantages: car parking in Newcastle city as someone keeps building on them

...Eldon Square is the main shopping centre in the wonderful city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Eldon Square first opened its doors in 1976 and has remained very popular with local people, mainly due to the huge benefit of being in doors (Have you seen how often it rains in Newcastle??). The centre has many different entrances and is spread out across the city. Main entrances are on Northumberland Street, Monument and Newgate Street. Eldon Square is now open 7 days a week , but many of the smaller shops do not open on a Sunday. At Christmas time opening hours are extended so people like me can spend longer running about like headless chickens not knowing what i want for Prezzies. Opening times, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Easter Sunday on which the centre is shut are :- Monday 9am - 5.30pm Tuesday 9am - 5.30pm Wednesday...

Does more or less what it says on the label...

Advantages: Plenty of branches around the UK. Reasonable range of products
Disadvantages: High prices, some low quality items and some bad service

...BBs Coffee and Muffins are a national restaurant/cafe that sell mainly coffee and muffins. Some branches also sell sausage rolls, filled baguettes, various "wraps" and "seeded bloomer" sandwiches, scones, croissants, ice cream, smoothies as well as toasted sandwiches, packets of sandwiches and cookies. My main experience of BBs comes from the Eldon Square branch in Newcastle and the branch which is in the Bridges shopping centre at Sunderland. I first visited the Eldon Square branch about 3 months ago and bought a "Meal Deal" to sit in and eat. The sign stated that the deal was "only £4.55" and that the meal consisted of any small coffee, any baguette and any muffin, depending on what baguettes etc were left, of course. I asked for a cheese and spring onion baguette, a flavoured coffee and a lemon and coconut muffin. I got...

Wagamama Newcastle UK

Advantages: Great tasting Food!!!
Disadvantages: Seated next to strangers?!

...Wagamama is located just outside the Eldon Shopping Cenre, and is well signposted inside the centre so its easy to find. Please note there are stairs going up into the restaurant. The staff were friendly and polite, but obviously very busy. I could see someone was been trained whilst I was there, which was good to see the staff are not just thrown in at the deep end. When our food order was given it was stated that the food may not come out together, which alarmed me. It seemed normal in this place for food not to arive at the same time. I have to say our food all came together so there was no issue. Bit I did notice the table of 3 next to me had to wait a while for the last meal to arrive, the other two friends were more than half way through their main course when the last friends food arrived. Love it!.........Hate It!!

...to Eldon square in newcaslte it took me to the service entrance down a one way street. And the places of intrest are none too helpfull. i wanted the airports nearest my house within 100 miles. Heathrow & Belfast Airport? btw i live on the North East coast! Sunroof.... worked then, now dosnt enough said. Clutch..... slips like crazy under anything approaching half power most of the time. Wheels very easy to buckle i have a constant vibration from the brakes when applied they were new discs and pads when bought. BUT it still looks Good is very comfotable and quiet, quick, drives well when its not wobbling! I Really want to Like This Car It gives me lots of toys and car for the money but Reanult Simply cant build cars to last!...

Advantages: witty, well-timed, very funny, clever and thought-provoking.
Disadvantages: sketches are quite poor.

.... One area in which the show falls short however, is the sketches appearing intermittently in five or six instances during each show. In spite of starring some very talented if a little low-key comedians such as Kevin Eldon (Big Train, Black Books) and Paul Putner (Little Britian, Rock Profile,) these shorts are poorly-written, predictable and run too far with their premises. Overall, a very witty, funny, cynical stand-up show that would be nice to see more of. Definitely worth a watch. Summary: Don't miss out on this gem....

Disadvantages: Weather, lack of late licences held by bars and pubs

...When I moved to Newcastle I was concerned about the weather - it can be very cold, but found that a great collection of high street shopping both inside and out of the wonderful Eldon Square helped take my mind of the temperature. Night life is also pretty good with something for pretty much everything from the classy Queyside area to cheaper drinking areas such as the local orientated Bigg Markett The city centre is always clean and on the whole the people are great, very friendly. Travel is also much easier than in many cities with the reliable metro service....
