...So I'm sat here in my room at my halls of residence playing on my acoustic electric guitar, when it hit me..."could I review this on Ciao?"...yes, I could!! Applause Guitars are the younger brother of guitar manufacturers Ovation, who have been making trustworthy guitars for over 30 years now, and here have used this experience to make a guitar that doesn't sound like a guitar that is as cheap as this, but is a high-quality product. My model number is actually the AE 28, rather than the 64, but trust me, from what I know about Ovations and what else I can work out, there are no differences here except the numbers! I brought it in November last year from a local music retailers, who I purchased my two other guitars (both electric), so trusted them fully when they recommended me this offering, and they've not let me down...

Review of Applause AE64 Acoustic Electric Guitar

Semi hollow, but a whole guitar!

Advantages: Extremely versatile and gorgeous too!
Disadvantages: People with tiny hands need not apply.

...I've owned an Epiphone Dot for over a year now, so I know it intimately. Well, as intimately as a man can get with a guitar anyway! I guess I'll start with the basics for anyone who's just starting out. The Dot is a semi hollow electric guitar, This means thats it has a solid block of wood running lengthways through the body, but has hollow chambers on either side. This means it is more audible than a standard solid electric guitar unplugged, but plugged in has the added bonus it is less prone to unwanted feedback than fully hollows. It has 2 humbucker pickups, a 3 way selector switch which lets you use youre different pickups at different time, and 2 independant tone and volume controls. Humbuckers give a more earthy, full sound than single coil pick ups, and are perfect fodder for some overdrive, yet are equally at home with clean...

An extremely versatile and reliable guitar!

Advantages: The classic bread and butter of our time - beautiful and brilliant
Disadvantages: expensive and daunting to a beginner

Review of Epiphone Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar

Probably the best first electric guitar

Advantages: Good, cheap beginners guitar
Disadvantages: -a bit too much feedback-

...a personal choice. The only thing that bothers me about the guitar is the feedback buzz, it get's quite annoying sometimes and for this reason I've never bothered to turn the volume up past '7' at gigs, this helps a bit, as does keeping your hand on some of the guitar's metal parts in between songs/etc. Other than that the sound quality is great for what you would expect of a guitar of this price range. Overall this is probably the best guitar around for beginners and for those just starting electric. I give the appearance 5/5 because of the beautiful Fender Strat design....

Review of Squier Stratocaster Electric Guitar

Great guitar for beginners and intermediate players

Advantages: great tone, easy to play, good for beginners
Disadvantages: not really nice colour, require good maintainance.

...This should probably be the first guitar for beginners. I bought it about 4 years ago and it was also my first electric guitar. The guitar has a really good sound with 5-way toggle that allows you to play all kinds of music with different tones. The Humbucker & Single Coil Middle Pickup produce great sound with very low noise. I felt lucky that I chose this guitar as my first electric. The guitar is well structured and I can play up down the fret, bend the strings and do all other advanced technique with ease and the sound it produces is great. Until now, sometimes I still take it out from to jam with friends and the sound is still the same after 4 years. However, the guitar requires well maintained condition. As for mine, I usually put it on the guitar stad, without keeping it in the bag and now the screws and pickups are quite rusty...

SG - Special Guitar, Stunningly Good!

Advantages: Plays well, feels great, sounds fantastic!
Disadvantages: Not cheap, could do with hard case supplying with it.

Seriously, I've been after a USA built Gibson for some time now and decided to go for the SG Special in faded worn brown. This is the entry level for the legendary model (£645 in this case, though still expensive). Buying guitars online can save a LOT of money but it something of a lottery as you can get a real lemon sometimes. But as we'll see, I hit lucky this time. This parcel arrived at my door and I eagerly opened it to reveal..... well, a real beauty! The faded worn brown of the body and neck wasn't so much worn or faded but rather minimal, unlike some of the over laquered models on offer., to the point where you can still slightly feel...

THE best electro acoustic guitar!

Advantages: Sound, build, playability
Disadvantages: Rounded back can be awkward at first.

...If you have read some of my other guitar reviews, you will know im a bit of a collector of guitars. In fact, you could almost say its an obsession. Therfore no collection would be complete without an axe from one of the world's finest and best known acoustic producers. Ovation. I own the Ovation Celebrity Deluxe which i believe is the finest looking in the Ovation range. However, you will also know that from my other reviews, Im left handed with the guitar which narrows your choice in colour. For a Right hander, the choices include, Black, Natural, Wine, Green and a sunburst effect top and also available in vasious mapel finishes. Im afraid to say my only choice was Black. Still it does look rather fetching and contrasts well with the Marquetry effect leaves around the multiple sound holes. Being an Ovation, it does come...

Review of Ovation Celebrity Deluxe CS257-RRB Acoustic Electric Guitar

Good guitar for the price.

Advantages: Lightweight (good for me), stays tuned, low action.
Disadvantages: Fret buzzing occurs too easily.

...Features: A standard Epiphone Korean-made SG Gibson copy with double cutaway body, glued neck, and two Alnico humbuckers. Mine is cherry red. Tone/volume controls. it's very lightweight, maybe some people wouldn't like it because of that, but it's perfect for my shape :-) The looks: this guitar looks very nice for the price, I mean, it pretty much looks like the original gibson. The finish stayed in great shape even after a year of carrying it around everywhere. Sound: I play in a band where we mostly do cover versions of songs in bars, so the music I play varies from punk to alternative rock to brit pop. This guitar sounds nice no matter what I play, I use a Fender twin amp which is a good versatile amp. It sounds best when I play hard rock but non-metal stuff if you see where I'm going. Review of Fender Deluxe Super Strat Electric Guitar

Brilliant guitar, ultra fast and comfortable.

Advantages: Well made, plays great, smooth quick neck, comfortable guitar and low B
Disadvantages: Bad stock pickups, thin finish chips easily.

...This was my first 7 string and it's brilliant, it made the transition from 6 to 7 strings incredibly easy after a few days I didn?t even notice it was there and now 6 strings feel rather small in comparison. It's an Ibanez Prestige guitar so it?s top of the range, flawless construction, very comfortable and very easy to play with a thin smooth neck. It features the Edge Pro 7 which is Ibanez's own tremolo design and its fantastic, easy to palm mute on, easy to change strings, and keeps the tuning very stable.
