Spore - could have been better

Advantages: suitable for all ages, unique, creative
Disadvantages: sometimes childish, later stages disappoint

...= Spore = This article may be considered as containing mild spoilers. So this is my warning for that just in case. By spoilers, I mean it may give details away that could spoil potential surprises for some gamers. = Minimum Requirements = - PC (Windows XP or Vista) - CPU: 2.0 GHz processor or equivalent RAM: (XP: 512MB) (Vista: 768MB) Hard Drive: atleast 4GB for game 1GB for creatures Video: 128MB video card with support for pixel shader 2.0 - MAC (Max OS X 10.5.3 Leopard or higher) - CPU: Inter Core Duo processor RAM: 1024MB Hard Drive: atleast 4GB for game 1GB for creatures Video: ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300GT with 128MB of video RAM or Intel Intergrated GMA X3100 = Cell Stage = Summary: I think this section of the game is probably the best. It seems the most thoughtful, original, and complete, even...

To Spore, or not to Spore

Advantages: Simple but massive creators, thousands of worlds,Sporepedia,FUN
Disadvantages: Repetetive,short,and simple

..."Look, it can walk, it can walk!" I cried with glee as I watched my home-bred slimy-green-eyed-monster-thing scrambled out of the murky brown sea and onto the land. This is the highlight of Spore, watching your creation evolve from cell into a whole species of space-searching critters. Having now reached the final stage: space, I look back at the original and only wonder how that cute, little fury thing is now a bloodhungry destroyer of worlds. Spore provides a much needed breath of fresh air into the sandbox/creator genre, and indeed computer gaming as a whole. It's colourful, original, brilliant fun, and charming, but the gameplay is scared with repetetive and simple mechanics. This is what stops Spore getting the 5 stars, but in no way does it stop this being a game that is well-worth buying. If you end up buying it and forgeting...

SPORE-amazing

Advantages: Learn while you play
Disadvantages: None

...Spore,may I just say wow. Me and my friend very luckily were able to play a peak preview of it at a technology conference we went to in America. Creator: Will Right a living legend in the gaming world creator of such games as The Sims, The Sims 2, The sim city series and many more. Before I start I would like to say do not judge this game on any other games you have played before it is totally different. Especially do not judge it on Spore Creature Creator which many of you have, it is only really a taster to the real game. Spore has been in developing for near 4 years now which is a long time to develop a game and its release date was delayed and delayed and delayed again until it finally settled on September 08. Well to play the game your computer will have to have a decent graphics card no Intel combined ones, I would...

Create your own creature and explore - Spore Creatures for DS

Advantages: Lots to explore, good concept
Disadvantages: Not very challenging, can get repetitive

...This review is of the Nintendo DS game, Spore Creatures, developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. This is a sim type game where you have to create your own creatures and then explore space. In theory, this is a really interesting concept, where you start the game as a very basic creature in space. You have to interact with other creatures, choosing whether to become friends with them, or to attack them, to make you stronger. As you progress through the game, you have to enter space to help defend the universe. The main element of this game, choosing whether to become friends with other characters, or to attack them, is quite limited though, which does make the game quite repetitive. Becoming friends with another creature is just repetitive, whilst the attacking element of the game is just clumsy and difficult to use. Most...

The Spore of Life

Advantages: Different, replayable, easy to get to grips with, hours of fun
Disadvantages: Slightly short lived early stages

...better options for customization, or what I would call a truly personal touch, but Spore takes the conventional editing tools and allows users to create anything imaginable, as proved by the tens of thousands of uploaded creations. Creatures can be created and modified with upgrades (such as feet that will increase speed, or items to increase health), stages 3, 4 and 5 allow a uniform of sorts to be created, land, sea and air based vehicles are made in the Civilization stage, as well as houses, a citadel, entertainment venues and factories. Finally, a spaceship can be created at the beginning of the final stage. Overall, I am very impressed with this game, it is truly a work of genius that only the creator of the Sims could have concocted. There is certainly room for improvement, but I have no doubts in saying that expansion packs will come...

Spore possibly the best game ever

Advantages: A beautiful masterpiece of programming technology
Disadvantages: Make crash or freeze on occasions, I suggest regular saving.

...EA games spore is a mainly role playing game however, the third and fourth stages, (tribe and civilisation) are real time strategy. In the story mode of spore you start off as a single cell in the primeval oceans of your chosen planet you begin by eating other cells and plants to gain DNA points which you used to evolve your creature. As you begin your voyage some creatures will have body parts unavailable to you, usually when you kill one of these creatures they will drop the body part you then swim over it to collect it. You may also find new parts in meteorite chunks. This stage should only take a to complete. Then you enter what is usually people's favourite stage of the game, creature stage, in this stage you must explore your continent and evolve sentience ahead of your competitors, other people's creations you can do this...

Spore - lacks depths but has oodles of Charm

Advantages: Great for anyone with a creative side
Disadvantages: Required internet connection

...What it lacks in high tech gadgets, Spore makes up for in scope and sheer charm. Although each individual stage of your creature's journey lacks the depth of other games available dedicated to those particular genres, Spore makes a brilliant cohesive single package, along with almost limitless potential with the creature creator. That coupled with the opportunity to connect Spore online to other users and download their creations makes for a varied and always interesting experiences. On the downside it can take a long time to get used to the creature creator, and I would recommend downloading the free trial version from the Spore website before buying just to test it out. Other niggles include the fact it demands you have an internet connection when you install it. I also find that although it runs on low end PCs, it can take a long...

::::VISA ELECTRON CARD::::

Advantages: You don't need to carry cash!
Disadvantages: Many places don't accept it!

...I was reading my guestbook when I noticed a note from lilkayb telling me to get writing, so here goes: ::::VISA ELECTRON CARD:::: I have had an account at Lloyds TSB since I was about eleven years old, this was then known as a Young Savers Account, When you get to 16, it changes to a Current Account. All I had to go with the account was a paying in book and a cashpoint card. When I was fifteen I damaged my Cashpoint card and requested a new one, a few days later I recieved a letter from the bank containing my new card, only it wasn't the card I'd wanted. They had sent me a cheque guarantee card, only problem was I didn't have a cheque book! I rang later that day to tell them what i'd requested and what i'd recieved, the lady on the phone was very helpful and assured that my cashpoint card would be through the post very shortly...

Review of VISA Electron

.:: Visa Electron ::.

Advantages: Use abroad and in UK, accepted in most retail outlets
Disadvantages: Not many online retailers accept

...Yep, now at the age of 11 you can claim your own debit card from both Natwest (Solo) and Barclays (Visa Electron). As usual with most banks you get a cash point card, but it is not to useful if you want to use it abroad. So, eventually I got myself an Electron one, and found it extremely handy. Virtually every shop in Europe will accept Electron and most high street shops too. This is because of major card merchant services like Barclaycard and Streamline enable this. But here is where the disappointment comes in. Electron is fine for those who prefer high-street shopping instead of using the Internet, but for the internet, electron is lousy. I could say this about solo - online shops such as Tesco and Sainsbury does will not accept this card, but they will do so in stores. This is no doubt taken as a precaution against under...

Review of VISA Electron

Visa Electron

Advantages: One of the only debit cards available to under 18s
Disadvantages: Not accepted everywhere

...There are only two debit cards that I know of which are available to under 18's, one being Visa Electron and the other being Solo. I decided when I was 17 that I wanted a debit card, as they are so much easier than carrying cash around with me - and much safer too. My bank account at the time was with Lloyds TSB, but they could not offer me any type of debit card because of my age. After finding out that Halifax would be able to give me an account with a Visa Electron card I quickly accepted and opened a new account with them. My card arrived, and I hit the shops! It was so easy to be able to walk around town with my Visa Electron in my wallet and just a small sum of cash for the places which don't take it. I felt safer, knowing that if my purse was stolen I didn't have any cash in there to lose, and that my debit card could...
