My stay in a castle

Advantages: Nice room, great bed, yummy breakfast
Disadvantages: Not great evening meal, grumpy owner

...For Christmas Mr Tart got me a trip to North Wales. I was hugely excited about this as despite being Welsh I?d never actually ventured to the North before. Knowing what a History nut I am he booked North Wales so I could look at some of the amazing castles up there. He booked Elen?s Castle partly on his father?s recommendation and partly because it had the word ?castle? in and then he could tell me we were staying in a castle! LOCATION: The hotel is in Dolwyddelan near Betws-y-Coed in North Wales. It is on the A470, which is one of the main roads between north and south Wales. The hotel is right on the road but the traffic was not bad at all. The hotel had plenty of parking available in a dedicated car park on the opposite side of the road. You can also get to the hotel by rail as Dolwyddelan has a train station...

Snowdonia!!

Advantages: Awesome food, service and people!
Disadvantages: Rooms were a little damp and cold

...Elen's Castle Hotel, is situated in North Wales.... Dolwyddelan, Snowdonia National Park LL25 0EJ, Wales I stayed at Elen's Castle for 3 nights, and for a 3 star hotel, it was pretty good and worth spending the money. To start with, the rooms were satisfactory. To be honest, they were slightly damp and cold, but for one suit (a family room) there was a double bed, a single bed and a bunk bed...so it was suitable for up to 6 people. The double room contained the double bed itself, a TV and a DVD player, two chairs, a kettle and some confectionary. There wasn't an interesting view from the window, but was surely refreshing after a tiring day. The single room also contained a TV, but no DVD player, a sink, a wardrobe and some more confectionary for your tea or coffee. There was another spacious room which contained a bunk...

Arrested Development -Review

Advantages: Brilliant & Clever Comedy
Disadvantages: Only 3 Seasons

...begin gaining fans and interest. Currently, Arrested Development has a huge cult following - and the sales of DVD seasons are high! If you are interested in having a good laugh then this is an amazing series and should not be missed. Arrested Development is one of my favourite shows, and in my opinion I would say that it might be one of the best American sitcom's ever produced. Once you start viewing you'll recognize some of the actors like Michael Ciena (superbad), Will Arnett (Semi-Pro & Blades of Glory), Porsca DeRossi (married to Elen DeGeneres). This is definitely highly recommended, if you are inspired to view an episode - please feel free to give me your feedback! Love to hear it!...

Review of Arrested Development - Series 1 (DVD)

Music Hall Days

Advantages: Great DVD
Disadvantages: None

...of Gus Elen, Arthur Askey, Marie Lloyd, Dan Leno, Gracie Fields, Charles Colbourne (his performance of Two Lovely Black Eyes, probably the only political music hall comedy song ever!) is a real joy to watch and hear, even though when it was recorded when he was already a very old man. George Laybourne was famous for the song Champagne Charlie. Incidentally, there is footage of Tommy Trinder portraying Laybourne singing this song in a role in a film. There is also film of other stars, and audio recordings of others, such as Albert Chevalier, famed for his moving song, My Old Dutch. It has no extras, runs for 75 minutes and even if you do not have an interest in music hall, I think you will like this DVD. It is listed on Ciao as being available at £8.99. It will make an ideal present for someone you love or for yourself....

Nothing fishy about this.

Advantages: Great gags, superb animation.
Disadvantages: The Audiences

...films, the movie lifts you with quick gags, interesting ideas and real sentiment without ever getting mushy. Anti-American jokes are there, piss-takes of Aussies, addicts as well. Most of the gags have a purpose rather than cheap laughs to entertain the kiddies. Disney is on to a winner and let's face it they could do with one. This is certainly more of an Aladdin than a Pocahontas. The voices work as well as they should without the distraction of being actually famous. There's no celebrity voice-spotting, no " oh listen, is that Julia Roberts voicing that shrimp." Albert Brooks is as always perfectly under-stated without getting to many great lines. Most of them are saved for perennial rug-muncher Elen DeGeneres, who manages to get more laughs in 70 minutes than a whole season of Ellen. The sharks are brilliant, as are the turtles...

With an interesting Get Carter homage in the middle, this is a rocking great. It thumps loudly, its a great piece to play at volume, listen to it twice and you'll be singing it forever "Put your arms around my neck, your a dirty little insect, make your bad upon the shore, your too bad to ignore" is the line that forms the chorus with variations at the beginning and the end of each chorus. Where exactly Ruby comes from is unexplained as it features at no point during the track. Elen I can't tell you what I believe this is about, because its in Welsh. Although it's almost like Cerys is closing a door on a past life and returning to her Welsh roots (as she did in reality...

Let me sleep!

Advantages: Can be cheap, clean, comfortable, many of them

...pancakes, bacon and eggs were delicious. The coffee was strong and hot and refills were free. Perfect! Checking out is easy, just pop your keys in a bowl on the reception. Conclusion. I would be much happier if we had only paid £26! But then I suppose anyone would. I do think £52 is expensive just for a room to put your head down, but on the flip side I would gladly pay extra to know my room is clean. I would stay there again, but ask for a room on a different side of the hotel and see how that goes! You may also like to know the hotel is 5 minutes from St Helens Railway Station and 35 minutes from Manchester Airport. Oh no ! A Virus Attacked me :0)

...on the internet. I had Zone Alarm Firewall installed and thought, yes thought that my Norton Antivirus was bang up to Date... Alas no, it was out of date by 2 years. Been a baby computer buff, We were told by Dixons that it would only have to be put on the once and it was preinstalled and that we would never have to do anything again with it. We just presumed that it was working silently in the background. Any how wrong could one be. We have over 2 grands worth of software on my baby millenium computer and at one stage it looked as though we were going to loose the lot. So here is a bit of info about this nasty little bug just in case any of you got it.
