...X: Beyond the Frontier wants to be Elite. It wants to be Elite so badly that it mentions it on the box. Sadly, it is not Elite. It has the trading aspect, the interaction from base to base, of Elite, but lacks the personality of Elite; the feeling of accomplishment and of unending adventure that you could have in the Elite world. Taken by itself, it is a superb trading game, where you trade, fight and generally try to stay alive in a galaxy that is quite far from your own. You have missions to complete, people to get away from, races to interact with and other stuff to do, too. But it all seems pretty one dimensional. There is no multi-player option, which is ashame, as it would have been nice to face a human opponent. The game itself looks nice, the engine is fantastically fluid and detailed. ...The Ovation Elite is my newest guitar and i have had it for about 6 months. At over £1100 pounds it was not cheap but has become my No 1 instrument in that time The build quality is excellent and hard to fault. It is the standard Ovation round back and has small holes for the sound box in the top right of the body. These are surrounded by coloured wood and look very impressive. the hardware is well made and fitted It is an acoustic guitear with built in ickups for amplified playing and the elctronics give a warcm and textured sound. this is probably the real main use for this model and live It would sound superb. you have a recessed set of controls i the top of the guitar for the electronics and they allow subtle changes of sound easily. I am amazed at how quickly the miles build up thanks to their very generous Elite scheme - after just 5 Transatlantic flights (that is flights, not round trips!) you will reach Silver Elite status, giving a 50% milage bonus, so a typical round trip to New York earns 10,000 miles (or 11,000 if you book online). Another 5 Transatlantic legs sees Gold Elite status and 100% bonus miles, then Platinim Elite and 125% bonus... ...It looks as though this game is going to be pretty good, as anybody who has had the patience to download the demo (approx 120Mb!) would know. The Quake3 graphics engine appears to work well for the single player game. In the demo you start on a borg cube and have to resuce your teammates (you are part of an elite hazard team), you then progress to aboard voyager where you have to help out with an problem in engineering, and thats where the demo finishes. It appears that the basic structure of the single player game is a series of tasks you must accomplish, be they getting to engineering, or averting a core overload etc. All the characters from the TV series are there, except they look a bit weird rendered in 3D. And you get to interact with the crew as part of the game progression. The single player demo although short did remind me... Read review
