Eliza Blues certainly doesn't give me the Blues!!

...As a frequent visitor to Dublin (my husband and I have been every year since 2001), I feel like I've eaten in most of the restaurants in the city centre, but every year we make at least one trip to the Eliza Blues restaurant. Every time we've been here we have been seated in a different place - ranging from near the window to on the slightly raised platform a the back. Each location has been wonderful for different reasons and we've had no complaints in that respect. Each time our waitress has introduced herself promptly and offered us a pre-dinner drink from the extensive menu. They have an excellent selection of wines, beers and spirits as well as liqueurs for after dinner. We have sampled a number of their bottles of wine and have never had a bad bottle, always thoroughly enjoying our well-priced choice. The food has...

ELIZA AND HENRY WITH AUDREY AND REX

Advantages: The unforgettable Audrey. Music at its best
Disadvantages: Dodgy sets at times

Julie was turned down for the film role however by Jack Warner who selected Audrey in her place.Luckily, Julie subsequently won an Academy Award for the part of Mary Poppins, a role she would have been unable to play had she been selected for My Fair Lady. Poor Audrey didn't even get a nomination, although she attended the Awards and graciously accepted defeat in her usual elegant way. The film is directed by George Cukor who if I'm not mistaken also at one point directed Vivienne Leigh in Gone with The Wind although he was later replaced. Review of My Fair Lady (DVD)

No complaints Lodged!

Advantages: Great views of River Liffey and spa baths in executive rooms, fabulous restaurant, great location
Disadvantages: no fitness facilities, few more towels in bathroom would be nice

...My husband first took me to Dublin for Valentines Day in 2001 and we've been back every year since. We love the place and always seem to be able to find new places to stay, dine and visit. Our stay in the Eliza Lodge was during our 2003 visit to Dublin and it was certainly one of the best. The Eliza Lodge is described as a luxury guesthouse at the foot of the Milennium Bridge. This is a fairly accurate description of the place, although I would argue that there are a few more luxury places to stay including The Morgan, but that's for another review. The accomodation consisting of 18 guest rooms is situated above the Eliza Blues restaurant which serves absolutely superb food and employs friendly and efficient staff. You can book a table in the restaurant via a direct phone line from your room, which I would definitely recommend...

Performer of Pedigree

Advantages: Upbeat, Melodious and Pure.
Disadvantages: Don't go near if you don't like the fiddle.

First of all her Mum and Dad are Norma Waterson and Martin Carthy, and if you don't know who they are... ...well we're talking The Royal Family of English Contemparary Folk Music. If you know Folk Music you know who they are, if you don't, then it won't stop you listenting to and apprieciating Elizas' music. It's that music that makes her a Performer of Pedigree as well. Like so many Folk Musicians of today she takes music of the English Folk tradition and makes it relevent and eminently listenable to todays audiences. Films like "Titanic," "Braveheart," "Lord Of The Rings," and countless other use haunting Celtic themes, and that music has become an international marketing phenomenom. Well, Black My Stove And Call Me Eliza

Advantages: Lovely, sensuous, warm writing.
Disadvantages: I can't cook as well as Almanzo's mother!
