Ellie
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...In Ellie, by Lesley Pearce, it is centred on two girls, Ellie and Bonny. The two girls meet in post-war Britain in London, and though in character they are the very opposite on one another, they become friends.
Ellie is a loving, kind, sweet natured brunette with a sparkling smile, while Bonny is a beautiful but spoilt blonde, who can be deceptive in many ways. Both were separated from their parents during the war as evacuees, and meet after the war has ended and set about making a life for themselves in the glamorous but ruthless life of the theatre. As their friendship continues, Ellie has to face lots of lies and deception from Bonny, but she always abides by Bonnie wishes, no matter how painful they are to herself.
I really enjoyed this book, but found the last few chapters a little unbelievable and didn't find them true to...

Cornell's attempt at the limelight
Advantages: Completely uniqu. Uses modern day hiphop and mixes it beautifully with Cornell's soulful tones.
Disadvantages: This is just the first of many 'music for the masses' albums that Cornell is likely to partake in
...When the project from Chris Cornell and Timbaland was first announced words such as 'sell out' were thrown around a great deal. Cornell, the iconic frontman of Temple of a Dog, Soundgarden, and more recently Audioslave has once again made a case for his place in the 21st century limelight with the risky yet compelling 'Scream' Album.
When first listening to the album my initial concern was that as everyone had speculated, Cornell had 'sold out' with typical Timbaland beats and on a number of tracks, the addition of certain electro effects. However the album works beautifully. Tracks such as 'Ground Zero' use the typical hip hop creativity of Timbaland and combine this with the unique and raspy jazz voice that has become Cornell's trademark to create a truly unique song.
By far my favorite track on the album was 'far away...

Audioslave.......hmm? Chris Cornell....Yeah!
Advantages: brilliant voice- well crafted album
Disadvantages: some songs may sound similiar
...Chris Cornell belonged to bands such as soundgarden and audioslave, and his main talents involve the guitar and his enchanting voice. People who are unaware of Chris Cornell may remember him for the song 'you know my name' (for James Bond- casino royale.) Good news is that this song is on the album
people who may be expecting a hard hitting loud album throughout are wrong as this album combines heavy instruments and Chris Cornell using a gentle voice, which he clearly shows his talent as he beautifully alternates his voice from melodic to hard.
1) no such thing.
A great start to the album this song starts with heavy guitar influence and gives the impression of a rock song throughout, but when Chris Cornell starts it clearly a focus on his voice, it includes a catchy chorus, but the best aspect of this song is the variation from...

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Ellis Finest Hour
Advantages: Character depth is incredible, Lifelike portrayal of America's top business people.
Disadvantages: Rarity of First Edition Hardback, Slow read to begin with.
...AMERICAN PSYCHO. Everyone is familiar with the name of this novel (and now motion picture) and it's 'different' premise. Ellis struck a chord with all modern fiction readers as soon as this book hit the shelves.
The reason this review is being written now is that the First English HardCover Edition is now available through PICADOR press, with the ISBN of: 0-330-37248-3. I was given this as a Christmas present and future investment, as this book as already reached and surpassed a cult status.
The outer of the book is well bound, with the oddly grotesque heavily-stylised picture of a businessman on the front cover. On the rear, rather than featuring a blurb we see a picture of Bret Easton Ellis himself; the man behind this monstrous creation.
The story concerns itself with a man who has achieved the American dream of supreme...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Elly Belly Pinkie Pie
Advantages: A little girl all of my own.
Disadvantages: She runs rings around me.
...calls her "Elly belly", then that became "Belly" or "Bells" finally resulting in my sons name for her "Belly boo" if she ever knows that her name is actually Elsa I'll be amazed.
Elsa is my dream come true, she may be hard work at times and I'm sure she'll give me a lot of grief as she gets older, but she is fabulous. Her cute little face, toothy grin and beautiful blue eyes always make me smile even when I'm feeling at my lowest, she has a sinister little laugh and a cheeky expression that says she's knows she's not meant to be doing something but will anyway. She is a little girl full of character, she's so determined to do things that she didn't stay a baby for long and the fact that she was so advanced compared to her brother is something that makes me a little sad, I will always love my little girl but will miss the baby that she was...

Lost in La La Land
Advantages: Watts, Coffey, Riggs; genuinely droll humour, mostly tinged with pain and humiliation.
Disadvantages: Amateurish/student film look; thin storyline; cheesy scenes; padding footage; overused extreme close-ups.
...Ah, the glamourous life of a Hollywood actress?but don't look to poor Ellie Parker for tips. Glamour hardly figures in her life.
'Ellie Parker' (2005) chronicles the hard times endured by a prototypical bit actress trying to find employment in Hollywood. Material for the title character draws on the real-life experiences of Ms Watts herself (and those of her friends) before she shot to fame and the A-List with 'Mulholland Drive' (2001). Back home in Oz, she had made a pretty good impression as a Catholic schoolgirl and daughter of a divorcée in the superb TV miniseries, 'Brides of Christ' (1991). Ms Watts then moved to La La Land, only to languish through no fault of her own in Hollywood limbo for a decade, appearing in a string of mediocre to okay films (such as 'Tank Girl' [1995], 'The Shaft' [2001], and the relatively stronger...
