Eltax Liberty 5 series
Advantages: Excellent affordability and sound
Disadvantages: Is there any?
...I purchased these last year from Richer Sounds, which is only one a of a few places that actually sell Eltax products, aswell as the odd shop and hi-fi store. I thought the floor standing ones looked so much more impressive than the book shelf ones, and paid an extortionately heavy price of £110! They look impressive to look at and the colour of the wood to the single bass and single tweeter cones work perfectly (I chose the Beech colour wood with metallic and white cones). Sped home in a taxi and after figuring out how to bi-wire them I set about positioning them in my match box room! They need to be at least a foot away in perimeter from anything, and you can add spiked feet for extra height and clarity of bass which often rumbles through the floor. The Eltax website is very impressive and they have lots of quality products. They have...

Liberty
Advantages: Great monuemnt, cheap, interesting
Disadvantages: None
...I just came back from a fabulous five days in New York so I am going to share my tips and experiences on a few of the Big Apple's major sights, the first one being the Statue of Liberty!
The Statue of Liberty was actually a gift to the United States from the French, way back in the year 1886. It was given as a gesture of friendship and was to commemorate the centennial of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence. This is why the date July 4th is written on the tablet the Liberty holds in one of her hands. In the other she holds a torch.
The statue was the first thing that immigrants saw as they reached the coasts of the United States (back in the late 1800's, early 1900's) and was seen as a beacon of hope/enlightenment and new life for the thousands of people that descended upon those shores.
The statue (correct name...

Eltax Liberty 5 versus Mission 702e
Advantages: fantastic 'big', rich sound. Very good price.
Disadvantages: quite deep, need to be away from wall
...demonstrations of both products (albeit in different shops!), and much to my own astonishment,I opted for the Eltax. I had fully intended on the basis of equal reviews to go for the Mission by virtue of it being from bass-ported not rear like the Eltax. However I couldn't ignore the fact that the Eltax had a considerably superior definition of bass. It was clearer and smoother than the Mission, which was quite bass-heavy and boomy in comparison. The only drawback is that they are both slightly deeper in size than the Mission and rear bass-ported which means they shouldn't be placed directly against the wall.
Notwithstanding this however, they are a seriously class act, can handle 100 watts of power and deliver a depth and quality of sound which, if you're used to compact speakers, will take your breath away....

Take liberty`s!!
Advantages: Modern, clean, relaxing and friendly staff.
Disadvantages: can be a bit nosiy (only a little)
...;■■■■■■■■■
The holiday was booked as part of a package holiday at the price of £679 per person for a fortnights stay (half board) the drinks and snacks in the hotel were very reasonably priced with cold filled rolls working out at around 30p, hot filled rolls at around 50p, crisps around 10p per pack, soft drinks around 30p per can, a pint of lager around 70p and a spirit and mixer around the same (70p). If you wanted to pay for the air conditioning in your room to be switched on it cost around £10 per week which considering it was 34 degrees or above for my entire fortnights stay was £20 well spent.

Mid price performance, budget cost
Advantages: Excellent mid-priced speakers at budget price
Disadvantages: Not small!
...My pair of Eltax Liberty 5 floor standing speakers give astonishing results and cost a lot less than I expected.
These impressive beasts give true mid priced performance at very little more than budget cost.
I bought just the main speakers on their own, and paid around the hundred pound mark, where else, but Richer Sounds.
This was part of a two stage ploy to get some semi-serious audio kit into the house without 'er indoors taking a tantrum!
They stand a full 84cm off the ground, are 20cm wide and are 33 cm front to back, but the shouldn't be pushed against a wall as this restricts the rear reflex port.
They are made of 22mm chipboard, so they are substantial enough to do the business, without needing to be a weightlifter to move them, mine are covered in 'beech' effect foil.
There is a single 150mm bass...

Lost in Sound
Advantages: A marvel for the money
Disadvantages: bulky if i really must complain
...a horrible dull thudding throughout anything, and I decided to let the sub go back to the very low frequencies and I would look for new speakers.
While shopping about, Eltax kept on catching my eye as a brand. Great sounding prices and with research great reviews too. Rather than plump for the whole lot, I dipped a toe into the water and bought a Liberty Centre. Bulky at 175mm h x 480mm w x 240mm d, finished in a simple and stylish light beech, and weighing in it a reassuring 7.4 kg I immediately expected pleasant results, and it did not disappoint. Crystal clear, with a crisp clarity to the vocals on the central channel usually reserved for dialogue, it also boasted nice bass, and a width and depth that belied it's centre speaker tag. While the vocals were pinpoint accurate, any ambient sounds it produced were thrown out around me, dwarfing...

Lady Liberty raise me up
Advantages: Free transport around the Statue
Disadvantages: Not able to access the statue any longer since 9/11
...This time when I visited New York I made sure that I got on the ferrry passed the Statue of Liberty so I could get some pictures as the one's I had obtained last time were awful.
The Statue of Liberty itself or should I say Liberty Enlightening the World as it is otherwise known.
The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the United States from France in recognition of their friendship that was created during the American Revolution and on October 28th 1986 the Statue of Liberty celebrated her 100th birthday.
Frederic Auguste Bartholdi designed the Statue of Liberty and that was the gift from the French to the Americans
The statue was eventually completed in France in 1884 in the July and arrived at New York Harbour in June 1885. In October 1886 the statue was unveiled by President Grover Cleveland in front of spectators...

Feel free at Liberty's
Advantages: It's all inclusive, good music, toilets are fairly clean
Disadvantages: Gets too packed, some of the people can be annoying.
...I've always had a view of clubs that are all inclusive (in other words the drinks are free after you pay admission) and that view is that they're dingy and cummy affairs full of beer boys and old slappers. Satan's Hollow in Manchester supported this. So did the Grafton in Liverpool. Liberty's however is actually different.
From the outside it looks quite tidy. It's located over the car park from TFI Friday's in Hagley Road and in a weird way the two of them seem to complment each other. I can describe it, they just do. So when you get into the club you pay £15 unless you're a member (me and Little Miss Evil, my fiancée are) in which case you can usually use the cheaper entry vouchers they send you each month. Depending on what time you get there, you're then either ushered into the lounge (which is kind of like a plush quiet...
