No happy endings with Endsleigh
Advantages: Cheap, straightforward, offers good rates for students
Disadvantages: Terrible customer service, incompetent, departments don't communicate with each other
...I have had so many problems with Endsleigh that I really want to share my experiences. I chose them for my first car insurance provider as they offered one of the cheapest rates and I knew the name as I had used them in the past for student contents insurance. For the first year and a half all was well until a had a minor bump on a roundabout. The accident was not my fault, there was no damage to the other vehicle and as as the only damage to my car was some scratches on the bumper, I decided not to make a claim. I dutifully reported the accident to Endsleigh and said I would not be claiming. I was informed that the other party had not been in touch and would have three months to do so. Six months later my renewal was due but the quote seemed ridiculously high so I called them to query and was told it was because I had made a claim...

long time Endsleigh customer!
Advantages: Service, nothing is too much trouble
Disadvantages: none yet
...I have been with Endsleigh for quite some time now (probably around 5 years!) either through sheer bone-idleness, apathy and just a general feeling that all insurance companies are pretty much the same. They have always given me competitive quotes which obviously I have accepted and continued with them.
My car insurance was due for renewel recently, and partly due to the credit crunch and a distinct lack of money (why has everything gone up!?!?!) I decided to use the msn search for the best insurance quotes, Endsleigh's came out on top, and was significantly cheaper than I had already been quoted by them. Obviously I called to enquire and check that I had entered the correct details...The operator, whos name I forget now, was lovely, sooo very helpful and after confirming all my information came up with an even better quote! Which I...

Endsleigh, maybe - updated and discounted
Advantages: Price, discounts available if you ask
Disadvantages: Online vs Telephone quotes' prices
...I am in the process of collecting insurance quotes for my car, and as I am a student (in name, if nothing else) I decided to try Endsleigh as they have links to the NUS and offer student discounts.
In the past I've always narrowed the list of companies and brokers in the following manner:
1) Only call those with freephone numbers.
2) Look for brokers/insurers who say they'll beat any quote and then play them off against each other
This year I've decided to use websites as this means that I can appear to be working when actually I am not! A visit to a few motoring websites (autotrader, fish4cars etc) yielded a few likely sites so off I went, into the cyber-wilderness
Endsleigh was the first choice because as I've said, I'm a student and they give student discounts. The online quote came to £301. I was that impressed that I...

Endsleigh offer a student discount...
Advantages: Student discount...
Disadvantages: ...unless you're a mature student
......to "normal" students, but not to people like me.
I phoned up to get a quote for motor insurance. I'm a 25-year-old mature student and Endsleigh offer a discount for students (they are part owned by the NUS).
I had a very helpful lady run through my details and after a few minutes on the phone she arrived at a quote of £294 including uninsured loss recovery. This was 10% more expensive than my broker had quoted me and when I told them this, and that my other quote included a protected no claims discount, they said that they could match that and they did. Since I am not unhappy with my current insurers, I've decided to stay with them.
When my sister was a student, she was insured with Endsleigh and was very impressed. That's partly why I decided to try them. The problem I have encountered is the same problem I encounter...

Trem-Endsleigh
Advantages: Great value, great customer service
Disadvantages: Not sure what they would be like for larger amounts!
...Having moved into a new (rented) flat, I needed to organise my contents insurance. So, I duly went online and got a number of instant quotes, all of which seemed fairly reasonable. Undecided about which to take up, I thought I'd mull it over for a while.
However, on arriving home I received a phonecall the very same evening from Endsleigh, following up my enquiry - this impressed me straight away (particularly as none of the other companies have ever contacted me).
The lady at the other end of the phone explained who she was, went through all the details I had provided on line to clarify them, asked a few more questions, then gave me details of the three best policies. She was extremely helpful and within 5 minutes cover was arranged.
It was far more comprehensive than I needed, but for only a less than £10 a month I wasn...

Endsleigh on line Travel Insurance
Advantages: Cheaper on line Insurance no middleman
Disadvantages: None
...I search the Internet a few weeks ago for on line travel insurance because I was on a business trip to Europe...
I looked at at least half a dozen companies but www.endsleigh.co.uk came up trumps with comprehensive cover in Europe for 6 days at around £16...not bad at all considering all their ' extras' a policy worth paying for..
two weeks ago upon my return fromEurope I booked a flight to Florida with BA and decided to give Endsleigh an other chance for a quote..for 18 Days insurance Worldwide on a fully Comprehensive basis the price was £45 excllent really, considering the inferior insurance offered by some travel comapnies at nearly twice the price....it really does pay to shop around...
I realise that I could have paid for an annual policy but I preferred to go for this one off World Wide Policy...
I have no idea what...

PROMOTED BY UNIVERSITIES FOR STUDENTS
Advantages: Good customer service, good price matching
Disadvantages: see op
...My Experience
*************
I joined Endsleigh because they were being promoted by universities as being good for students, and they undercut my last policy by £50 so I decided to go with them.
By this time I already had 1 years no claims bonus. I was 9 months through my policy when I decided to get a new car to replace my existing banger.
When I went to change my insurance I was told that I could'nt because they were in a law suit with my insurers, as they went bankrupt (Drake Insurance). Because Endsleigh were insurance brokers, I was insured by Drake Insurance through Endsleigh. They didn't think of letting me know that Drake Insurance had gone bust!
After a week of hastle phoning them and the head office, I was told that I could change my policy for my new car. The new quote for insurance now turned out to be £400...

Endleigh Car Insurance
Advantages: Competative Pricing
Disadvantages: Poor Customer Service
...claims until the offices are open on the Monday.
After the car died, I got a new one only to find out that to add it to my policy would cost me £15 admin and an extra £75 for the last 2 months of the policy. I decided to cancel as Direct Line were much cheaper. After trying to follow the cancel procedure on the website, I was told to post my insurance certificate to my local office (which they won't tell you where it is!). When I did manage to find out where my local office is, I received a call from an advisor who spent about 45 minutes offering me different products, to which I repeatedely told him thatI wasn't interested. He then kindly told me that it would cost £50 to cancel, which was dearer than it would be to keep the policy going until the end. Ridiculous!
On the plus side, Endsleigh are one of the cheapest around and if you contact...

Pet insurance
Advantages: Peace of mind
Disadvantages: none so far
...the best thing to do was have him castrated at the vets.
After spending money on his injections when he was younger and worming tablets and his regular check ups at the vets, she decided to buy pet insurance.
I have a car policy with Endsleigh and have been happy with them for a few years so we checked out the pet insurance with them.
It’s a costly thing to have a dog as vet fees are not cheap. The castration of a dog costs £180 at our local vets, add this to the worming tablets, regular check ups of weight and health when they are growing up and their injections and your looking at more than £ 400.
This is without including any ailments that they might have in their life to come.
We bought a policy from Endsleigh for £112.09 a year.
You may think this sounds a lot but it is broken down into monthly payments which can be paid by...

LEAVE ME ALONE
Advantages: None whatsoever that I found
Disadvantages: Too many to list! Read the op...
...I hate endsleigh and will never insure with them as long as I live for many reasons of which there are probably too many to write in this opinion without my falling asleep or working myself into a rage due to endsleighs incompetence all round.
Where shall I begin....
For starters, I can only talk for one branch, namely the one in Warwick University which has been the bane of my life for a year now. And...I'm not even insured with them!
I'll start at the beginning...
June 1999...
I popped into endsleigh on campus because I wanted to buy a car, and fancied getting an idea of what I was into on the insurance. The woman in endsleigh was very friendly, if a little pushy, but helped me quite a lot. Even though the quotes were high, I had an idea of what car I should and shouldn't be looking for. A little bit sad that I...
