Living with a 5D after a 20D

Advantages: Full frame sensor, very high resolution, excellent operation
Disadvantages: Costs double the price of a 30D, hidden extra costs

...I owned a 20D before this and so my view is relative to that camera. The 5D feels very much like the 20D and 30D in that it is pretty much the same size and operationally very similar except for not having any kind of built-in flash. Pro users argue that not having the pop-up flash is not a disadvantage because nobody would seriously use such a weak flash but I miss not having it on the 5D. While the flash on the 20D is indeed very weak (GN12), it often found use for quick, last resort use when there wasn't time to dig out the "proper" flash unit. It also serves a more important function as a AF assist light in very dark situations. Admittedly, having the flash pulse rapidly to allow the AF to "see" in the dark can be disturbing to subjects but it's better than having an out of focus picture. canon 5d---- good or bad

Advantages: full frame
Disadvantages: new cameras have better features

...i have a canon 5d and has 12.8 mp full frame cmos sensor,9 points af, digic 2 processor, records raw/jpegs, compact magnesium alloy body etc. If you don't know the difference between full frame and cropped frame is that the full frame standard size is 35mm the cropped frame can range from sizes but smaller than 35mm. Obviously there new cameras that have new feature but if you want the cheapest camera that has good pro quality and also light and discreet this is the 1. I will say that it lacks in a few thing that the new cameras have like live view, auto sensor cleaning, hd video recorder, digic 4 processor, AF micro adjustment, quick control screen, built in flash, water dust resistance well better sealing....

Excellent camera with amazing picture quality

Advantages: Amazing picture quality, performance in low light conditions, HD filming
Disadvantages: Price, easily smudged screen

...I went from a canon 400d and the differences were amazing. The first thing you notice is the superior build, it feels so much more tough and its more comfortable to hold as it is bigger. The screen is alot bigger and better quality although its very easily smudged. The wheel give you easy navigation but the real difference is the pictures. Its quality and reliability whislt working in low light conditions is outstanding. Noise isn't noticable until about 3200 iso but the pictures are still very much usable. After being worried about a conference I was taking pictures at because the room was poorly lit I was amazed when pictures were over exposed! I had to take down the iso. The hd filming is very high quality. The avalibility of using lenses brings the quality up to a proffessional standard. Altogether I've been very happy with my...

Canon EOS 450D - Superb!

Advantages: Extremely easy to use, fantastic picture quality, long battery life.

...Canon have released an excellent performing camera. This camera is nearly as good as the more expensive eos 40D. The menu is incredibly easy to use even for a novice like me. The 3 inch lcd screen is very clear and simple to understand. The 12 million pixels creates beautiful pictures and gives you massive scope for enlarging and cropping and still create excellent clarity pictures after zooming in on PC. The ability to take raw pictures boosts massively the potential to create imaginative pictures using software such as adobe photo shop. I used to use a canon powershot but am very pleased to have swapped to this versatile camera. Prices for this camera are still dropping and I consider this far better value than new eos 1000D....

EOS 400 in use by spanish real estate agent

...Owning several Canon`s (chemo-film) have set my expectations high. I must admit that they are met by this phantastic product. Very clear menu, easy to use in all modes, great results. Recommend to buy the additional battery grip with it, gives camera better control and having two batteries inside gives you extended power. Standard lens is a good one, even will by better wide angle lens for architectural photos. Use it professional every single day and have been never disapointed.
