review of Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar

Advantages: very playable
Disadvantages: short sustain

...The Epipiphone Hummingbird is my first Acoustic guitar i have not stolen off my dad. £300 is not a bad deal, seeing as the Gibson acoustics are all around £3000. The looks and finish of this guitar are very nice, i enjoy graphics on my guitar as long as they arent too loud, and this 'mockingbird' illustration is just plain pleasent. The shape of the guitar is perfect so that it can sit on your lap for hours and not ache, partly due to its incredibly light weight. The playability is pretty much perfect, the best you can get for a £300 acoustic, and times I thought I was playing an electric, the fretboard was just so slim, the strings were at perfect distance from the fretboard. The sound is not as good as the playability I must admit, probably because of the lightweight body, it is not hard enough to sustain the notes for a very long...

Epiphone EJ-200

Advantages: Big sound, Big tone
Disadvantages: Big body is not good for some tastes

...First off, I will explain quickly the main specifications on this beautiful guitar: Spruce top, Maple back, sides and neck, Jumbo sized guitar, No cutaway. This guitar is absolutely gorgeous. If you find a picture of it, you will know exactly what I mean. First impressions on this guitar are that it looks wonderful, and is a very big bodied guitar. This may take some getting used to, but after the first few plays, it becomes easier. The tone on this guitar is well suited for many aspects of playing; I personally am an indie/rock player, but it suits blues and plays jazzy styles well too. It isdefinitely more of a strummers guitar than a solo-ers (if that's a correct term) guitar. THe higher frets are harder to reach, and with no cutaway, getting above 15 is pretty hard. THE best electro acoustic guitar!

...If you have read some of my other guitar reviews, you will know im a bit of a collector of guitars. In fact, you could almost say its an obsession. Therfore no collection would be complete without an axe from one of the world's finest and best known acoustic producers. Ovation. I own the Ovation Celebrity Deluxe which i believe is the finest looking in the Ovation range. However, you will also know that from my other reviews, Im left handed with the guitar which narrows your choice in colour. For a Right hander, the choices include, Black, Natural, Wine, Green and a sunburst effect top and also available in vasious mapel finishes. Im afraid to say my only choice was Black. Still it does look rather fetching and contrasts well with the Marquetry effect leaves around the multiple sound holes. Being an Ovation, it does come...

Semi hollow, but a whole guitar!

...I've owned an Epiphone Dot for over a year now, so I know it intimately. Well, as intimately as a man can get with a guitar anyway! I guess I'll start with the basics for anyone who's just starting out. The Dot is a semi hollow electric guitar, This means thats it has a solid block of wood running lengthways through the body, but has hollow chambers on either side. This means it is more audible than a standard solid electric guitar unplugged, but plugged in has the added bonus it is less prone to unwanted feedback than fully hollows. It has 2 humbucker pickups, a 3 way selector switch which lets you use youre different pickups at different time, and 2 independant tone and volume controls. Applause AE64 Acoustic Electric Guitar

Advantages: Beautiful sound, playability and look

...So I'm sat here in my room at my halls of residence playing on my acoustic electric guitar, when it hit me..."could I review this on Ciao?"...yes, I could!! Applause Guitars are the younger brother of guitar manufacturers Ovation, who have been making trustworthy guitars for over 30 years now, and here have used this experience to make a guitar that doesn't sound like a guitar that is as cheap as this, but is a high-quality product. My model number is actually the AE 28, rather than the 64, but trust me, from what I know about Ovations and what else I can work out, there are no differences here except the numbers! I brought it in November last year from a local music retailers, who I purchased my two other guitars (both electric), so trusted them fully when they recommended me this offering, and they've not let me down...

Review of Applause AE64 Acoustic Electric Guitar

A really great guitar

Advantages: Beautiful sound, build quality and great price
Disadvantages: Strings, strap pin

...Epiphone, there are some real good pluses for Epiphone, price being the biggest. It may not be of the same quality but this guitar really packs a great sound and I am happier to drop this on the ground than I would a Gibson. If you have money to burn go for a Gibson, if not, you are getting a whole load of guitar at the Epiphone price. All in all a great guitar that I would highly recommend to anyone considering buying an acoustic guitar or even this particular model, its a lot better than the guitars that can be bought elsewhere for the same or even dearer price....

Review of Epiphone AJ-10 Acoustic Guitar

Epiphone G-400

Advantages: Great attack and sustain for a good metal/rock style of play.
Disadvantages: Not particularly well balanced.

...The epiphone g400 is a stunning guitar. Its looks is what attracted me to it first and formost in the shop. After having a go in the shop i was completely blown away! The sound that this thing can make is unbelievable in respect to the price tag. It is exceptional value! The alnico humbuckers pruduce a great crunchy sound for distorted rock/metal style of playing. It has plenty of attack and great sustain. It has quite a wide neck which makes it easier (for me inparticular) to finger some chords (like an A) where on other guitars my fingers would be squashed up and would make playing the chord uncomfortable. But this is not the case on the g400. The action is very good too. And if it is not to your preference then changing and tweaking this guitar to your liking is almost too easy! I have had this guitar for over a year now...

For years to come, people will look at that familiar rounded outline and remember their rockstar hopes and fantasies, as well as their most epic jam sessions! I have only been playing guitar for two years and have had no professional instruction, i was delighted to find out early on that i was naturally talented at playing and advanced quite quickly. Review of Epiphone Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar

1 of the elite trio of acoustic brands!!!

Advantages: will last a life time, sounds great, plays great, will not depreciate
Disadvantages: costly to begin with

...have no idea what the guitar actually plays like so how are you going to know it's the right one for you? One of my heroes Hank Marvin uses a black Martin which is available in his signature series which offers a fantastic sound. Unfortunately it did not work for me as it is a full bodied guitar which means it is quite large so me being quite short found it very difficult to play. Alternatively if you do not have enough to purchase something like a martin, then there are some great brands out there set at £500 - £1000 mark that will work extremely well in the professional environment. Guild is one brand that I can recommend having owned one for the last 5 years. So to summarize, In my opinion Martin is one of 3 equally fantastic acoustic guitar brands that I strongly recommend. legendary epiphone gothic

...Well what a guitar this has to be my favourite guitar that i own. It looks great, sounds great and lets just face it its great. On stage it has never let me down it never sounds bad though this may because of my marshall amp but the two go together nicely. You may say that its the cheap version of the Gibson you would be right but it uses basicly all the same things its just the gibsons are hand made. The clean sound on this guitar is great sounds good if you want to do some old tunes like jonny b good or the classic summer of 69 obviously you can do them distorted but i thought that they sounded fantastic on clean. Well when my band wanted to do the darkness in the concert i thought i would use a much rocky guitar than this so i tried my flying v but i thought naaa tried this and the distorted sound was just incredible i manged...
