...The Epson C62 INKJET printer is by far the best printer I have ever had. However, I only mainly use my printer for printing out documents and spreadsheets etc, and I don?t know whether it is the best printer out there for printing out photographs. I have previously had a Xerox printer, and found out that it consumed ink very quickly, its print quality was very poor, and the most annoying thing: It made a hell of a lot of noise! Whenever I turned on my computer it made a terrible, loud, grounding sound that reverberated around the house, and it was particularly distracting at night and the vibrations woke you up. ...We bought our computer a couple of years ago and to be honest i was always a hp sort of guy. it matched my computer. all my friends had started to get Epson printers and i felt a little left out. i searched a few shops to see what the prices were and i found that the average could be between 59.99 to 79.99 depending on what store you went to, some had special offers on at the time. The paper is fed through the back of the printer on a tray at the front. When you first load the disk, it leads you through everything that you wanted to know and you cant really go wrong along its installment. Epson Stylus C62 - OK to a point

Advantages: Low Price - Photo Quality
Disadvantages: Very Temperamental - No Edge-to-edge printing

...I have had 3 different printers in the last 10 years, and the Epson Stylus C62 is my 4th. I decided I wanted a photo quality printer, but was on a budget and was looking to pay under £70. I wanted something that would give me decent quality photographs, but that could handle all my other printing requirements (general documents, letters etc). Although about 18 months old now, at the time of purchase it was considered a compact model and is certainly good if you are limited on space. The price then was good and I am sure now you could pick one up for much less. The software (printer driver) that it came with was easy to install and I was quick to set up and get working. The quality of photographs is good, I wouldn't say excellent, but definitely of a moderate to good quality. However, I have nothing else positive to say about this...

The woe of an Epson C62:

Advantages: OK as an all round printer
Disadvantages: Really noisy ink guzzler / expensive tanks

...My Epson C62 printer started to give me trouble about six months after purchasing it so I contacted Epson, after a few tests with their technical team and after wasting a vast amount of ink from their genuine ink tanks I was advised to take it to a local Epson dealer. "Print heads" said the dealer as though I had been printing on sandpaper....! He duly give me a replacement and literally threw the C62 straight into the nearest bin, I repeat " threw it", the replacement was of course minus the ink tanks and when I got home minus the guarantee and receipt of purchase documents. The problem was black lines on picture with a yellow cast about 1" from the left hand side and along the bottom of the picture, as though in a frame. The normal black & white text consisted of either blue or red straight lines through the text...

Advantages: Robust and Cheap
Disadvantages: Drinks ink especially non Epson Cartridges

...Epson can charge a lot more for the cartridges. It also makes it difficult for cartridges to be refilled as special equipment is required to reset the chips. This printer has an improvement which was an annoyance on the earlier C42. When the C42 cartridges decided they were empty the printer refused to print. The C62 shows the cartridges as being empty but will allow you to carry on printing until the cartridges are really empty. I've tried several makes of third party cartridges from good quality manufacturers but found that the printer does not like them. Epson's printer driver gives you a warning when you replace a cartridge with a non Epson original. I've had one third party cartridge that emptied after 2 weeks and printing less than 10 pages. ...This product is definetely a good option among ink jet printers, Printing quality is good for pictures and documents. The ink cartridges for the printer are quite cheap and last quite a long time depending how often you print. Another good thing is that when you install the printer and the software provided, there are maintenance options provided with software which enable you to do such tasks as do a nozzle check (use this if gaps or faint lines appear in your print out), head clenaing (use this if your print quailty declines) and print head alignment (use this if misaligned vertical lines appear in your print out) i have never had to use any of these maintenance tasks !! The only problem i have ever come across is a paper jam but there is a button on the printer which solves this problem easily !! The only disadvantage...

...What is it that youy want out of an inkjet printer? - something that prints good quality prints fairly quickly and doing this quietly. After buying this model for around £60, this is what i expected, even if it was not absolutely perfect, being relatively cheap. It is a basic inkjet printer that connects to your computer via. a USB connection. There are 2 ink cartridge slots, one for colour and one for black and white. This is very simple but it is quoted that the black & white should last for 600 pages and the colour should last for 300 pages. This is promising but its simplicity in design and features are real indicators of what i believe is a poor machine. The first problem which i have found is that the print speed is extremely slow. C62 is OK But..... There are better printers

Advantages: Good styling
Disadvantages: The peizo ink jet heads, ink wastage

...I bought a C62 as my first printer, 6 monthes down the line I had to return it to a local Epson agent, because on plain black text, it left squiggly blue broken lines, and sometimes a broken red line.... "the print head" said the dealer, to much of my amazement he threw it in a nearby rubbish bin, and handed me a replacement ( minus ink cartridges). What I did not realise is that he did not hand the receipt back, I thought he had put in the box. Guess what, the heads have started to require continous cleaning and Epson cartridges are not cheap, personally I put it down to the type of jets used, these are not thermal jets. Epson seems to be of no help, inspite of having the old and new replacement regestration documents. I am in the process of doing what the dealer did. What I mean by consumables is basically Ink Cartridges, something which is probably costing printer owners all over the country a fortune. When you consider than an Epson (Jet Tec compatible) black cartridge for the C62 can cost as little as £4 depending on where you buy them, compared to a HP black cartridge for around £18, your laughing. The same goes for the colour cartridges, being around £6 for Epson?s and £23 for HP?s. This was the reason I bought the Epson C62?s, and this is what makes them so great for home or home office based printing. However, I must stress here, if you do use these Jet Tec compatible cartridges, you will end up voiding the warranty, which is as standard one year.
