Reviews of epson cx5200
Fantastic scanner, photocopier + printer All-In-1!
Review of Epson Stylus CX5200 by
pinkelephantuk
Advantages: Fantastic print quality of photos + documents, both printed, and scanned ones!
Disadvantages: Expensive ink cartridges
...I have been using my Epson Stylus CX5200 for over two years, and I want to write about what good quality print-outs I get from it. It produces such good results, when scanning and photocopying documents, that friends always comment, 'Wow, your printer's really good'.
My printer not only prints, but scans and photocopies too. Anything I photocopy, even photos, come out very nicely
Background
The printer cost about £150. It was a birthday present, and I am so pleased with it. There is a built-in scanner and colour photocopier! Yes, you can photocopy in colour, and the result is brilliant - you can hardly tell the difference between the photocopy and your original. By this, I mean the colour-quality is BRILLIANT - the colours are vivid, and there are no tell-tell streaks that you can get with some photocopies.
Cost of ink
I would...

DURABrite is not a photo quality solution!!!!
Review of Epson CX5200 by
David-the-IT-Manager
Advantages: Solid build
Disadvantages: Durabright Ink, cropped edges of scans, poor support from Epson
...I bought my CX5200 thinking the DURABrite ink system would be an improvement to the dye based inks that Epson has used in the past. I have owned an Epson Stylus Plus, the Stylus 1520, the 1160 and the 880. I have always regarded the Epson resolution to be of the high achievable standard of their day. And many glossy prints have gone out to friends, family and clients for high-end presentation work. But the DURABrite ink that Epson is now pushing really falls way beyond what I expected from this new generation of printer. Since the ink “sits” on the surface of the photo quality paper the glossy surface is really matted. Epson appears to be offering “new” features in their print line with the Photo RX500 which adds extra “gloss” over the inked surface to return the glossy finish back to the print. I take great exception to this “new...

Overall
The epson CX5200 is reasonably good printer with quite a high specification. This device includes a printer, scanner and a copier. The printer is nice to look at in shades of gray, there is a LCD control panel to assist with configuring settings and trouble shooting although I found this a little difficult asI have had to have my device stored above eye...

Excellent all in one
Review of Epson CX5200 by
JamesLockett
Advantages: Occupies less space, excellent quality
Disadvantages: Comparitively Noisy paper feeder.
...The epson CX5200 is pretty much the same printer as the CX3200 but with a higher specification. The all in one includes a printer, scanner and the ability to combine these to create a stand alone (without PC) copier. The printer is very attractive, moulded in light and dark grays with smooth curves and a stylish, easy to use control panel. The printer is USB only and comes with a standard length usb and power cable. It also comes with a bundle of software that lets you take complete advantage of the printer and scanners capabilities and a rather large manual (which is mainly due to the number of languages it contains).
Printer
-------
The printer boasts a printing resolution of 5760 dots per inch and is capable of printing up to 22 pages per minute in black and 11 pages per minute in colour. The printer is very quiet...

Epson "OK" Stylus CX5200
Review of Epson CX5200 by
superja
Advantages: high res scanner, high dpi printer, one touch copying, good level of control from the printer
Disadvantages: Long time to charge ink, photo prints aren't great, BestPhoto rpm takes ages
...with ink charging before every use. But when it has finished charging it does satisfy it's specification print speeds of 22 ppm for black and 11 ppm for colour, but only on the lowest quality settings. This poses less of a pain if you are a regular printer, since each charge will produce many prints continuously
The CX5200 is large in size compared to other mulifunctional units available
The price (at the time of purchase) was not the most competitive, however the specifications were slightly better than the competition. But upon using it I don't think the better specs make much difference.
The USB cable provided is not very long, I am currently using an extension cable to have my printer only 2 metres from my computer.
The ink cartridges for this printer made by Epson, which they recommend of course, are very expensive, a set of 4 colours...

I'm satisfied with this!
Review of Epson Stylus CX5200 by
mobabs
Advantages: Good quality printing, photocpies and scans
Disadvantages: Noisy paper grabber
...I bought this printer as a space saving option and because it would have cost me £80+ for the new cartridge for my photocopier! It was obviously a much cheaper option for me. It also had a scanner which was a bonus as my existing scanner was high end, huge and very heavy.
I went for Epson because I had always been pleased with my Epson ink jets in the past.
I found this to be a good quality printer. It prints colours well and Photo printing was surprisingly good - and on cheap ink jet paper too! I recently took some wedding photos for a friend (a rather large responsibility for someone who has never done it before) I worked on them in Photoshop. I chose one particular photograph as a 'Special' and after changing the background and giving it some special effects I thought I ought to, at least, see the colour and print quality before...

A change from my old Epson
Review of Epson CX5200 by
brad-ashley
Advantages: Easy to use, quick to get started, excellent quality, fast printing. Ideal for home office use.
Disadvantages: Quite large! Finding a home for the baby was difficult. Not ideal for some users, i.e. those who like photo quality.
...I've come to learn that if I want a printer, my best bet is to stick with Epson. I searched all the other brands, as a break from the norm and I ended up purchasing this!
From the minute I got it, I thought it was excellent ... and just before I got it I knew it wouldn't break the bank.
It's a fabulous printer, at a fabulous price, £129.00 from PC world; which I felt was exceptionally reasonable, especially for such a versitile machine.
For the home office king, or just the general user who wants a bit more features from a printer, this is the one to get!
It scans, enlarges, copies (colour & bw), edits, scans documents into word using OCR technology. It does everything I need it to do.
I had a slight problem with the size of it. It's quite a beast compared to my last printer, but I had luckily recently purchased a bigger desk...

reliable workhorse
Review of Epson Stylus Color 850 by
voodoo
Advantages: speed colour, pages per inkwell
Disadvantages: price age
...This epson printer is bordering on the windows workgroup highend user market and it shows, with reliable parts and a larger ink tank than most epsons.
the print quality is very good and little banding is in effect on the colour printing, the print quality on coated paper is very good only slightly as good as the epson photo printer.
The print speed on the epson 850 is very good and this beauty just streams pages out almost as fast as a lazer printer.
A good quality printer that is perfect for that little extra work....

AVOID EPSON STYLUS CX6600
Review of Epson Stylus CX6600 by
CUMBRIABROOKS
Advantages: sorry can not recommend any advantages for this Epson model
Disadvantages: expensive ink cartridges, stops working totally requiring service at a shop, constant paperjam
...I previously worked in admin/office work, always had HP Printers & a friend recommended Epson to me (big mistake) I purchased my Epson CX6600 18 months ago, after using the printer for approx 6 months it displayed printer error "see your documentation & call service if necessary" an Epson outlet service centre replaced the printer, the Second printer has been in my possession approx 12 months & again today it displays the same message, I have a small business & have to say BOTH printers were not used excessively (some days they are not used at all) & they constantly had paper jam, the ink is VERY expensive & overpriced by Epson & of course Epson set the printer default so you ARE UNABLE to use the printer AT ALL until it has been to their service centre! TOTAL RIP OFF & the quality of print & features are nothing startling, stick...
