Forget Epson, Canon is the buisness!!
Review of Canon PIXMA IP3000 by
tinyflea
Advantages: Duplex, Print on CD, Borderless Photo
Disadvantages: doesn't fit in my pocket
...Having previously owned only Epson printers I'd stupidly fallen in the trap of not keeping an eye on the competition. After having had another Epson printer clog up, then empty itself of new ink cartriges whilst trying(and failing) to clean the heads I decided it was time for a change. Enter the IP3000. I read reviews, and still I was unsure if it would be upto Epson standards. Well look no further.
The IP3000 photo prints are fantastic. Either I'm getting old or you just can't see the familiar inkjet dots on close inspection. The prints look as good as photographic prints. Not only that, but you can have them borderless too!! Also (although I've heard this isn't tru on the USA version) we have a CD printing facility. I ordered some printable CD's straight away and hey presto, lovely printed CD's too!!!...all for under £100.
Finally...

Nice Camera
Review of Epson PhotoPC 3000z by
Alexmouse
Advantages: Very good value package
Disadvantages: Looks a bit ugly
...The Epson 3000 is a manual and Automatic camera. It has 3.34 Mega pixels 34-102 mm zoom lens, a 6cm macro and Compact Flash Storage 16MB supplied taking at best JPG mode about 8 pictures or 1 uncompressed.
Other useful features are a Hotshoe on top of the camera for an external flash gun, great for taking pictures that require more flash power than the 3m flash built in.
It has time lapse feature as well which i think is a fab feature. i.e. watch a tree in your garden loose it leaves in 60 seconds, wonderful.
Its records sound and movie clips too. The f2 lens is a good wide aperture for low light situations which not many cameras have. To top off this fine unit it comes with batteries and charger case and lens cap and a lens adapter for attaching any extra lenses you may need. Its all there a good value buy definitely....

Wide format printer ideal for graphics and CAD,CAM
Review of Epson Stylus Color 3000 by
pbaran
Advantages: A2, seperate ink cartridges, Postcript & Ethernet upgradable
Disadvantages: Dated in terms of colour output and connectivity, paper loading isn`t perfect
...We bought this printer over four years ago now, but Epson are still selling the same model.
This printer is ideal for large format colour printing (up to A2, and banner paper) and produces very good results. There are four seperate ink cardtridges (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) so that ink would not be wasted as it would be on combined colour tanks. The cartridges are very large and last for several months (although this does depend on usage). However they are also rather pricey at around £33 (exc VAT) each.
When this printer was first introduced it really was unbeatable in every respect. Now, however, there are other Epson printers which go up to 2880dpi (as opposed to 1440) and have six colours. The output of these printers is superior and the 3000 is getting rather long in the tooth in this respect.

The Screen Printers Secret 10th Ring of HELL
Review of Epson Stylus Color 3000 by
Randomkill
Advantages: The only one of its kind that provides absolute black ink on transparencies..
Disadvantages: Loud, annoying, cranky, expensive, finicky, fragile, BEAST FROM HELL!
...your hands on a professional quality, absolute black ink transparency creation, with half-tones! printer.
Epson has created this Epson Stylus Color 3000, this one-off unique printer, which is the one, the only, STILL! Low cost high performance solution available today.
If you look at this Epson printer in scale with the other similar printers in the Epson line with the same capabilities this is the lowest level of the group that includes the Epson Stylus Pro 5000, the Epson Stylus Pro 5500, Epson Stylus Pro blah blah blah, etc ending in the amazing Epson Stylus Pro 10000.
These printers will not fit in your house or your budget unless of course spending $3500.00 to $9500.00 is not a big deal to you and you have space in the garage.
For exact technical information I may have left out in this review please check the Epson provided...

MY EPSON STYLUS C86 PRINTER
Review of Epson Stylus C86 by
canonmiser
Advantages: fairly cheap to buy, does the job for me,user friendly
Disadvantages: expensive cartridge replacement (there are 4)
...not particularly good with modern electronics this is a great help!
I paid £69.99 for this printer. It came with 4 cartridges already installed-1 black and 3 different colour ones. The slight shock came when I went to buy replacement cartridges and found the set of epson ones were just under £30.00!
I have bought and tried with mixed success 'compatible' cartridges by other manufacturers. Most of these, I have found, gum up the works in the sense that the printheads get clogged very quickly.
In conclusion-if you only require a simple inkjet printer that does the job in reasonable time and you can afford the replacement cartridges then this model is for you. If you want one that has sat/nav and makes you tea and toast then leave this model alone!
Thankyou for taking the time to read this review, I hope you have found it helpful. All comments very...

pixma ip3000
Review of Canon PIXMA IP3000 by
levere241
Advantages: cd/dvd printing, sperate paper feeds
Disadvantages: ink cartridges.
...i have owned this printer for approx 9 months now and have found it to be very usefull.
i have owned epson printers in the past and found them the ink to be very expensive so i thought i would try canon and it is the best thing i could have done, the print quality is very good for both photo's and cd's.
the software and printer are both easy to use and understand.
the seperate paper feeds are very useful as i keep my photo paper in the bottom tray and normal paper in the top. You do not need to remove any paper for the cd printing, just use the cd tray provided and open the small front cover and follow the onscreen instructions, it is as easy as that.
I have also found the double sided printing facility usefull for letters.
This printer is very good on ink and with the seperate ink tanks makes it alot cheaper to replace...

Epson Stylus Pro 5000
Review of Epson Stylus Pro 5000 by
redballoon
Advantages: Produces excellent high quality prints, Ideal for Professional Use
Disadvantages: Very expensive
...filled up at specialist stores.

Speed
---------
The Epson Stylus Pro 5000 produces excellent ink-jet output and has high-end features, but it’s not exactly a speed demon when it comes to time. But that isn't a negative point. I would rather this printer took it's time whilst printing than rushing it through and producing a lower quality picture.
For it to print a photo of best quality on A4 gloss photo paper it took approximately three minutes...

Portable with good features but fragile
Review of Epson PhotoPC 3000z by
LadyLuna
Advantages: Light weight, Portable and Loaded with Features
Disadvantages: Expensive and Weak Casing
...OVERVIEW
Epson 3000z seem to be the easiest to operate, full-featured digital camera. The camera is well designed and well implemented. But for me this camera is not a pocket camera, sure it is small with the size of 108 x 89 x 65 mm but the camera is a little chubby and the The shape and oversized handgrip for the right hand make it difficult to put in the camera to a small purse.
With the 16MB CompactFlash memory card the camera can stores up to 155 standard resolution images. The LCD monitor is activated by the mode dial, and features a very efficient menu system. Instead of calling up settings menus and sifting through screen after screen of settings and options, this LCD menu works much more simply. When the LCD is in use, an information display lines the bottom and right sides of the LCD, with features corresponding to adjacent...

Excelent Epson, again.
Review of Epson EPL 6200L by
Bolly_eggs
Advantages: Very Quick to print. Good DPI. GREAT value for money.
Disadvantages: Ugly. not practical for large buisness'
...cartridges is 3000 sheets of paper and the amount of pages printed before the superconductor is useless is in the excess of 20,000. comparing the amount of paper printed against the shelf life of the consumables is extremely good for home use and that of a small business.
Conclusion.
Epson have always been ahead of the field in printers, bringing high-quality machines to the high street at affordable prices. The price my dad paid for this printer a few months ago was £110 and he hasn’t had to place a single penny into the machine since. The only downside I can think of to the printer is its design and that it would not be suitable for a large office. But for the price the printer certainly excels in all necessary fields and quite a few unnecessary ones as well.
Statistics.
Printing method : Laser
Engine Resolution : 600DPI
Print Speed : 20...

Another WINNER from Canon, the Dog's Wossnames
Review of Canon PIXMA IP3000 by
jerzed
Advantages: Superb Print Quality, Exceptional borderless Photos, Fast, Cheap Compatible Ink Cartridges, Well Made, Prints on printable CDs/DVDs too
Disadvantages: No parallel connection. Does not make coffee
...I bought this printer on spec after reading several glowing reports in the computer press and seeing how good a mates printer was. Having had 4 Epsons bomb out in as many years (just out of warranty of course), I will never touch and Epson again. And their print heads are too susceptable to air bubbles and early failure.
Canon have been at the leading edge of product design and innovation for years. And NO I don't work for them.
I love their cameras, lenses and now their printers (but not the cheap ones).
Sorry to sound prescriptive, but the Canon cheap range printers use tiny cartridges that run out very fast and cost the same as the bigger ones for iP3000.
Setting up the iP3000 was a doddle and the software installation is hassle free (well it was for me, so there!!).
As with the earlier i560, the print head is not fixed...
