The EPL 6200N, A Monochrome MONSTER
Review of Epson EPL 6200N by Credance100

Advantages: Highly industrial, capable of printing off at amazing speeds. Low noises. Is aesthetically pleasing.
Disadvantages: Slightly pricy. Few extra features.

...If you've ever been a student, you'll know how difficult it is to tackle exam revision, coursework. and homework assignments. Not to mention the pressures each subject can take upon a person. You'd also realize the amount of emphasis in recent times on using computers and IT related utilities in order to accomplish the aformentioned tasks. My sixth form department recently purchased this, the Epson EPL 6200N, a laser printed designed for medium sized workgroups within any office or school. With the latest set of A - Level exams just a few months away, and with several sheets worth of information needing printing, I had the oppurtunity to test the EPL 6200N out... The Printer A quick query to the librarian told me the printer cost about 270 pounds inc. VAT, though unfortunately I cannot quote the place of purchase. Thats pretty... Read review

Excelent Epson, again.
Review of Epson EPL 6200L by Bolly_eggs

Advantages: Very Quick to print. Good DPI. GREAT value for money.
Disadvantages: Ugly. not practical for large buisness'

...Epson EPL 6200L The Epson EPL 6200 is a ‘High performance A4 mono professional printer’ or so say Epson. Never being afraid to give new technology a go I jumped upon the opportunity to play with this rather large and bulky laser printer. My father is a dentist and he needed a hard wearing, cheap printer to print leaflets, booklets and all manner of other things you generally find information upon. For a hard wearing and a (long term) cheap printer I recommended to my dad a laser printer as there is no need to buy ink-cartridges and you can print thousands of one copy. So we make a trip to good ole’ PC world where this was retailing for £110, checking out the specifics and not really being bothered what to buy we chose this because it looked as if it would do the job. Driving home, I looked at the box, rather big and white it gave... Read review

EPSON EPL6200-A tough competitor in laser printing
Review of Epson EPL 6200 by gusgusrule

Advantages: Fast, excellent quality, relatively cheap to buy
Disadvantages: Bland design, high cost of consumables

...I'm quite fond of Epson laser printers, for me they represent good quality and speed at phenomenally low prices. My first Epson laser printer was the EPL 5700L, but things have moved on since then. That was a bog standard, 8 pages per minute printer, but it didn't stop me being impressed, you can read my earlier review on this printer in my archive. But I knew my EPL 5700 wasn't going to last forever, and when I found out it needed its toner replacing which would cost £50, I thought I'd jump in and buy a new one (I was in a spending mood!) When Looking at printers I think theres a few things to bear in mind, so I present to you... **DALES SEVEN WONDERS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRINTER** 1) The company 2) The Cost 3) The Quality 4) The Speed 5) Toner life and cost of consumables 6) Design 7) Reliability and Usage So first things... EPSON does it again ... and again
Review of Epson EPL 5700L by Newfloridian

Advantages: A reliable family of work horse printers
Disadvantages: None

...I have used EPSON laser printers for several years. Starting with the EPL5500, I have had experience with EPL5700, EPL5700L, EPL5800 and very recently EPL5900. I am rather confused by the subcategories offered in this section. I cannot find a model labelled EPL5700PTx and assume it to be mixed up with the EPL5700PS which has a PostScript upgrade. The model with the suffix 'i' appear to be designed for the AppleMac computer. The models with the suffix 'L' are Windows dedicated printers. All these printers are Black and White lasers. This review is based primarily on my experience of the EPL5800PS. I was in the need for a new laser printer for my home office situation. My needs are not that uncommon in that I do a lot of repetitive word processing. As I standardised much of my output in the years when WordPerfect for DOS was king my... Read review

Laser Printer, yes please.
Review of Brother HL 5130 by Griffin000

Advantages: Cheap consumables, Cheap laser printer
Disadvantages: Not as fast as stated

...I had a Brother HL-1240 printer for a number of years and it gave great service but a couple of months ago it finally died. A sad day but something bad was bound to happen soon. So on to the replacement. I needed a Laser Mono Printer, simple, and was looking for one which printed at a decent speed and more importantly had cheap consumables. I searched around looking at the HP Laserjet 1012, Lexmark E232, Epson EPL 6200 and finally the Brother HL-5130. A quick look at the printers stats will tell you that there is little to choose between the four printers. HP Laserjet 1012 Price: £137.63 exc VAT Resolution: 600dpi x 600dpi PPM: 14 Memory: 8MB Lexmark E232 Price: £110.14 exc. VAT Resolution: 600dpi x 600dpi PPM: 21 Memory: 16MB Epson EPL 6200 Price: £125.59 Resolution: 600dpi x 600dpi PPM: 20 Memory: 2MB Brother HL-5130 Price... Read review

One of the best laser printers
Review of HP Laserjet IIID by robbailey

Advantages: Very Fast, Good Print Quality, toner lasts for ages
Disadvantages: A bit big

...This Is the Printer to buy if you can find one, they last for ever, i have had mine for nearly 7 years and print daily and have never even bought a toner for it, it has lasted longer than many other laser printers i have seen or used and it is very fast, it has a resolution of 300 dpi which might not sound much but for a laser printer its more than enough i can tell the diffrence between a page printed on my laser and one printed on a Epson EPL 550, which is 600 dpi. You can buy a printer like mine for around 40.00 and its worth every penny, all my freinds own one.... Read review

EPL 5700 - An economical tank!
Review of Epson EPL 5700 by gusgusrule

Advantages: Good toner life, crisp black text, cheap, fast
Disadvantages: Frequent paper jams, bulky

...I came home from work one day, and had to print a black and white report off the internet; it took about 30 minutes and was 100 pages in length; by the time I had finished printing it the black catridge had run out. It was around this time I realised I would need something faster and more economical for everday print offs. So I invested in my first black and white laser printer; the EPL 5700. The printer met my needs perfectly; essentially I needed a printer which was quick and easy for printing non - important documents which was why I didn't fork out and get a colour laser. It did its job perfectly and still is doing. The toner life is excellent, lasting about 6000 pages before replacement (I've had the printer a year and still have the original toner in!) The drum units last 60000 pages so I should get plenty use out of it yet... Read review

EPSON Printer - a definite workhorse
Review of Epson EPL 5900 by stuartrider

Advantages: Reliable, solid.
Disadvantages: Not the fastest or most stylish on the market.

...is certainly good enough for sending business correspondance. Paper can either be loaded in the paper tray (mines takes 500 sheets without too much trouble) or via the paper feeder - the darker grey area on the tray that sticks out. For pages that are to be printed face-down (as is usually the case), the pages are retrieved via the slot on the top at the front, although I recommend you lift the lighter grey flap on top if you intend to print more than 2-3 pages otherwise they tend to fall out. Pages to be printed face-up are retrieved via a slot on the top at the back, but you will need to reposition the lighter grey flap at the back first, otherwise the pages will fall. This can be a bit fiddly so I would not recommend trying to do it too often. The cost of toners is on a par with other brands, I usually buy Epson S050087 cartridges... Read review

If anyone can Epson can
Review of Epson Stylus C64 by izzwizz

Advantages: Cheap, excellent print quality, brilliant new ink technology
Disadvantages: Replacement cartridges are expensive

...Our Canon BJC-6200 was finally binned this week. Whooppee! The Canon BJC-620 died about two months ago and was replaced with an Epson Stylus C64. We liked it so much we bought... no, not the company, but we did buy another one! The new one arrived today, and I thought it would be good to write the review of this printer as I unpack the box and plug it in, then tell you a bit about why I like it so much. Here goes... THE PACKAGING The first thing to notice is that as the sellotape is removed from the top of the box, a good amount of the pretty green external colouring comes with it. This reassures me that the box hasn't been opened before. The outer carton is sturdy, and inside there is a small piece of cardboard and the usual unrecyclable polystyrene packaging. The packaging was good enough to see the printer delivered to me in perfect... Read review

An EXCELLENT scanner at a BARGAIN price
Review of Epson Perfection 1670 Photo by jerzed

Advantages: Fast, Compact, Excellent Quality scans, Scans Negs and Slides
Disadvantages: Control Interface, Looks like it should, but does not make toasted sandwiches

...but the interface could be better to avoid confusion. Simple labels such as "OCR", "Scan to document", "Copy to printer", "Scan Slide/Negative" etc would be far more instinctive. I hope that Epson have improved this on later models. Apart from getting used to the control interface, the scanner is a nicely built and specified unit and despite it's being superceded is still a very good unit. From personal experience, i find that shrpness of focus is everything on a scanner, without that all of the dpi in the world won't make it better. My late and lamented HP6200C was 300dpi and was outstanding. More dpi without the focus quality means huge files and that's all. take my word for it, this scanner is worth having. At the lat price of nearly £70 it was good value, at £29.97 is is an absolute STEAL. If you see one at Jessops (and you need it), BUY IT!!... Read review
