If anyone can Epson can
Review of Epson Stylus C64 by
izzwizz
Advantages: Cheap, excellent print quality, brilliant new ink technology
Disadvantages: Replacement cartridges are expensive
...Our Canon BJC-6200 was finally binned this week. Whooppee! The Canon BJC-620 died about two months ago and was replaced with an Epson Stylus C64. We liked it so much we bought... no, not the company, but we did buy another one! The new one arrived today, and I thought it would be good to write the review of this printer as I unpack the box and plug it in, then tell you a bit about why I like it so much. Here goes...
THE PACKAGING
The first thing to notice is that as the sellotape is removed from the top of the box, a good amount of the pretty green external colouring comes with it. This reassures me that the box hasn't been opened before. The outer carton is sturdy, and inside there is a small piece of cardboard and the usual unrecyclable polystyrene packaging. The packaging was good enough to see the printer delivered to me...

Excellent Epson
Review of Epson Stylus DX8400 by
almarsden
Advantages: Good Quality Prints & Lots Of Useful Features
Disadvantages: Small Colour Ink Provided
...Epson Stylus DX8400
Before Christmas we set out looking for a new printer for the computers as we didn't currently have one and were fed up of using my dads to print stuff out. We went into the local town of Burton on Trent and found a computer shop they had quite a wide selection of printers, after having a look through them we decided we would like an Epson because they are reliable, cartridges aren't overly expensive and Epson is a trusted brand that we have used previously without any problem.
So having decided upon an Epson we narrowed the model down and picked the Epson Stylus DX8400 it had everything we wanted and also had a cool LCD display screen for viewing status information and also images that are downloaded off any memory cards which I thought was a really useful feature.
The Epson Stylus DX8400 is far from...

Epson Stylus C66
Review of Epson Stylus C66 by
Tinkerbella1
Advantages: Good Quality Printing, cheap cartridges
Disadvantages: Slow
...In the past I have always had a Lexmark printer but the prices of the cartridges (between £30 and £35 each) put me off. A friend bought a Epson for Christmas last year and told me what a good printer it was and the price of the cartridges which was a lot cheaper than Lexmark so when my printer broke I decided to give Epson a go.
I went to my local computer shop and explained that I wanted an Epson printer that could print photos and normal documents and was reccomended the C66. The printer cost me £65.00 but you can surrently get it in your local Argos for £59.99 and I believe some shops may sell it cheaper. The shop where I brought the printer said if when I need ink I go back there I will get the four cartridges for £20.00 (£27.99 in Argos). Unlike Lexmark printers where you pay £35 for a colour cartridge and £30 for a black...

An Epson the size of an average dog
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R300 by
Kingseany
Advantages: Great value, loads of features, high quality prints, fast
Disadvantages: Price of ink - but that's nothing unusual
...I swore blind I’d never buy another Epson printer, after the last one lasted just past it’s warranty, and to be honest became a real pain in the lower regions long before that. Still, the temptation was too much, the price and features pulled me in once again to an Epson – the R300.
Unpacking
As with all new products these days, there seems to be a tendency to stuff the box full of all sorts of bits and pieces, so when you first take a look inside it can look a bit daunting. However, a lot is just un-needed extras adding to the mountain of computer junk ending up in the landfill. You get the printer of course, snugly packed in polystyrene. You get a CD-ROM containing Printer Drivers and other software, six cartridges each individually wrapped, a special piece of plastic for CD-printing, power cable, 3 pieces of photo glossy paper (10...

The Epson 680 is Bad Value
Review of Epson Stylus Color 680 by
colbrig
Advantages: Cheap printer
Disadvantages: VERY expensive ink, poor mechanics, DO NOT BUY EPSON
...Our company has a number of Epson printers which have performed well. So, we purchased an Epson Stylus Color 680 printer because we needed a reasonably priced replacement for light duty printing.
What I did not realise at the time is that the Epson ink cartridges have a microchip which locks you into buying what are VERY expensive Epson ink cartridges. As someone said, the price of ink is 10 times higher than buying a bottle of Chanel No.5.
There are non-genuine cartridges now available but the price is not much better than Epson's rip-off.
Given the price of ink cartidges, I want to refill my own cartridges to save money (as in the past)whilst Epson is trying to prevent that so as to make a big profit from expensive inks.
The chip does not even measure how much ink is in the Epson cartridge, rather it works on how many lines...

Another top dog from the boys at Epson !
Review of Epson Stylus C70 by
shotgun_norman
Advantages: Quality of print, VFM, consistency, reputation, reliability
Disadvantages: Size maybe - it is a little bulky!
...The Epson stylus C70 is a very good value for money printer. I was lucky enough to get one as part of a package deal on my home PC (Compaq presario 5000 series).
Although i have owned the Printer for around 3 years now it is still more than adequate for my day to day requirements and it is still good enough for my sisters coursework for her GCSE's using Epson's photo quality glossy paper her photographs and standard pictures print off at a very good quality.
Epson claim that this printer will do 16PPM (black text only) but i personally have never managed that many with his printer but it is very quick indeed, prints come out very quick at an impressively high standard!
The only down-side to this printer is that if you are constantly printing pictures then you will be requiring ink on a more frequent basis than you really want...

Epson Stylus Photo 1290S
Review of Epson Stylus Photo 1290S by
china_wolf
Advantages: Prints like Cheetah on speed, quality is like 20/20 vision with vision enhancing glasses, decent value for money.
Disadvantages: Cannot use cheap alternative ink, has an arse bigger than my aunt May.
...Epson... what a bloody good printer company. Just when you think Canon has come out with the next best printer with all the magical implementations thrown onto it to make us users drool, along comes Epson with it's fat arse and a cheaper quality professional printer to quench it's fire. If I wanted to be crude, I could of said that the Epson Stylus Photo 1290S A3 printer was the Epson Stylus Photo 900 A4 printer, with an erection. Epson rocks my wok.
I was at Comet the other day, searching for my first A3 printer so that a lowly mortal, such as myself, could be given the powers of A3+ printing. I searched high and low, but could not find the printer I was looking for. And then, as I was giving up, a Comet salesman comes up to me with a smile on his face and a message on his forehead reading 'Buy something from me, I want a bonus...

EPSON STYLUS PHOTO R265: SUPER, I LIKE IT!
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R265 by
Hi-Spec-Tek
Advantages: BETTER DESIGN, QUIETER, GOOD PHOTO AND DVD/CD PRINTING.
Disadvantages: I HAVE FOUND NONE TO DATE.
...THE EPSON STYLUS R265 CD/DVD & PHOTO PRINTER.
I must say that since this one was chosen for me by Epson UK having had a somewhat disasterous time with the previous model of similar ilk, the (EPSON STYLUS R260). The R265 is so far doing well!
I have yet to give it the test of time since the R260 "croaked" after a somewhat short space of time in my estimation. 12 months almost to the day! I had an error messages up about non-replaceable parts wearing out and life of printer about to end. ALREADY!!! I fumed! Just out of gaurantee too. I telephoned the Epson UK establishment and was told that it could be repaired but... costs would outweigh the value of the printer. They did suggest that I take up the offer of the Epson Stylus R265. Yes, an altogether better piece of gear in many ways - so far! I await at least another six months to see...

Epson Printer Starts Off Nicely
Review of Epson Stylus C86 Photo Edition Printer by
trevorbrock
Advantages: Great Epson ink quality
Disadvantages: Great Epson ink prices
...This is my 7th Epson printer - and like all the rest, it lives up to the acronym title I have supplied - Epson Printers Start Off Nicely.
And you may well wonder why I have persisted with a brand that should really have been called EPCUB - Epson Printers Clog Up Badly !
Well let me explain !
1 Incredible Purchase Price.
"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^"^
I bought this Epson in December for £58. The plan is to accompany my other recent Epson purchase, a colour laser printer, reviewed elsewhere, and a C66 used by my significant other, and which uses the same cartridges.
Like all modern inkjet printers, the price is incredible.
Its technology is mindblowing, and worth more than £58. Indeed, the manufacturers will admit, that each printer costs more than what they are sold for. The business plan is to give the customer...

At last an Epson printer to rely on!
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R1800 by
Lush1
Advantages: Reliable, straight forward to use
Disadvantages: Output tray a bit too flimsy
...So eventually the torture is over, I've bitten the bullet and brought another A3+ Epson after one too many torturous moments of trying to cajole my Epson 1520 into action! Following past Epson experiences I didn't expect to ever be persuaded to buy another one, but somehow it just happened! With a lack of choice in the A3+ inkjet printer affordable ranges, I reluctantly invested more money into the Epson empire. Although, now that I have this one I have to say my thoughts have changed. Sometimes it's worth giving that second chance in life…. Even to printer manufacturers!
Price:
There seems little point in telling all of the ins and outs of a printer, without first telling you what it will cost. As with all things, its best to scour around for the best price, but most seem to range between £330 and £360 for this printer. Its...
