Perfection from Epson
Review of Epson Perfection 1250 by  Martinscholes

Advantages: Very good scanner
Disadvantages: None I have found

...I work in publishing and I need to scan photographs and documents for inclusion in magazines, newspapers and books that the company publishes. I find that the Epson Perfection 1250 has the quality that is required for the job. The scanner is easy to use and provides high quality scans every time that I use it. It works well not only as a scanner of photographs but also works well with several different types of OCR software that I have used in my working life. The thing that I like about the Epson Perfection 1250 is that it is easy to use. It really is just a matter of clicking on the desktop icon and following the onscreen instructions. A question that many people might ask is: "would a flatbed scanner of this type really be suitable for the publishing industry?" The answer has to be "yes." The company I work for publishes five... Super Scanner at a Special Price
Review of Epson Perfection 1250 by  LtSticks

Advantages: Simple, good interface, quality results
Disadvantages: None!

...I hadn't bought a scanner before I purchased this one, and so I wasn't sure of the results, however Epson is a good name to trust and so I felt that a scanner from them at less than 100 pounds would be reasonable. And my expectations were blown out the water! The software is excellent, the scanner itself is easy to install and work, and the additional programs with the package are outstanding. The scanner even comes with an adapter to scan photo negatives! Which although not useful for all, makes me feel that Epson have pulled out all the stops to ensure this package is well worth the price. I would recommend this to anyone buying a scanner for the first time, or even if they just want a new one. Epson have delivered the goods, as always.... Read review

reliable workhorse
Review of Epson Stylus Color 850 by  voodoo

Advantages: speed colour, pages per inkwell
Disadvantages: price age

...This epson printer is bordering on the windows workgroup highend user market and it shows, with reliable parts and a larger ink tank than most epsons. the print quality is very good and little banding is in effect on the colour printing, the print quality on coated paper is very good only slightly as good as the epson photo printer. The print speed on the epson 850 is very good and this beauty just streams pages out almost as fast as a lazer printer. A good quality printer that is perfect for that little extra work.... How I love that delightful green button
Review of Epson Perfection 1250 by  goodematthew

Advantages: Excellent quality images and quick scan time.
Disadvantages: Some features of the software do not work on my computer.

...Having bought a fairly cheap scanner with my computer, I was looking for a replacement pretty soon. It was a “bargain basement” scanner, and as I’d seen an Epson scanner before, and been impressed with it, I thought I’d give it a go. The Epson Perfection 1250 is an A4 sized flatbed scanner and cost approximately £140. I was dubious as to whether I would just be getting a cheap and nasty scanner all over again. How wrong was I! Starting with aesthetics, the scanner has a blue body, with grey cover. It has a delightful green start button, accompanied by its three friends: the copy button, the ‘scan to e-mail’ button and the ‘scan to web button’. The green button is always on (a bit annoying at night!) and flashes when it is scanning. Installing the scanner is an easy process. You get a helpful manual, as always with Epson, and all... Oh Brother
Review of Brother HL 1250 by  wulise

Advantages: Great print quality, also economical.
Disadvantages: Not a Colour printer!

...I first saw the Brother HL-1250 Laser Printer at Office World. (I know many people do not like this shop, but I found the staff very helpful on the day I visited). Back to the printer. This printer system is computable with Epson, IMB, PCL6 and Windows emulation. The Windows drivers include features such as a ‘quick print set-up’ (allowing control of the print settings on the task bar) and ‘on screen help’. This copier is ideal to use within a professional environment, daily. It produces excellent print quality, whilst being economical enough to use at home as well. The Brother HL-1250 Laser Printer is versatile, being very fast yet reliable. Paper saving, power and toner saving facilities also help to make this machine a viable option for all needs. The print quality is impressive too, giving a crisp and clear graphic quality. It has... Read review

Epson perfection
Review of Epson Stylus Color 860 by  littleprince

Advantages: Fast, Excellent reproduction of colour, High quality
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...The stylus 860 is near perfect. Colour results are flawless, with printing at 1440dpi on glossy paper virtually indistinguishable from a photo. And this thing is fast too, it prints text and graphics at incredible speeds, and a particularly nice thing is that the printer is very quiet. I paid just £180 for this printer and it was an absolute bargain. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone that is involvd in design or graphics as a great printer to check colour reproduction and for general printing as well. Excellent.... Read review

Epson Especial
Review of Epson T0453 - print cartridge by  trevorbrock

Advantages: High quality, lasting images
Disadvantages: Cost

...An ink cartridge is not really something to wax lyrical about is it? This magenta is designed for a few Epson printers, and I use it for my Epson Stylus C84. Sorry Epson, but I use compatibles from time to time, which do the donkey work perfectly well, much cheaper. I can have a compatible from Jettec for £4 while I pay about £7.99 in PCW for the real thing from Epson. Having said that, I recognize the quality of Epson and like to use one of their own brands every so often. They are readily available, easy to insert, prevent irritating messages - like "the cartridge you are using is not a genuine Epson T0453 - do you wish to continue using it ?", and always work well. Colours are very sharp, the ink dries instantly and never seems to fade. But they do not last as long as Jettec - which have an extra 30% as well, and are just too... Read review

Epson EMP X5
Review of Epson EMP X5 by  LogitechUSAUK

Advantages: Good price
Disadvantages: Low resolution

...This is projector is affordable but still has some positive features. The resolution of 1024 x 768 allows clear projection with much detail. However if you are interested in High definition or multimedia i would not recommend this. However for business or education this is perfect. The 2200 ANSI Lumens allows the pictures to be very bright in well lit conditions. It was very easy to set this up and epson provided all the cables in needed. This epson website is also very helpful for driver and software updates. Even though this is not a DLP projector i think this projector meets its demands nicely and is a good price. Other products to consider would be the Optoma range since they also are very good.... Read review

Far from perfect!
Review of Epson Stylus DX8450 by  dazaylward

Advantages: Scanner, LCD Monitor, initial cost
Disadvantages: Ink consumption too high: Will cost a fortune to run even on 3rd party inks

...All three of my previous printers have been Epson and I've been very pleased with all. Unsurprisingly then, when it came to renewing my printer again I chose this Epson for £60...I wish I hadn't! On the face of it this printer seems very well specified and even has a built-in LCD monitor. On the whole the print quality is reasonable for a printer in this price range. However, this is where the good points end. Despite having four seperate colour cartridges, ink consumption is ridiculously excessive even on standard quality prints. I also have an unresolved issue on this printer (perhaps Vista orientated) that causes certain small text to vary in black saturation, which, while not horrible, is far from perfect. Overall: Disappointed!... Read review

Hewlett Packard cheaper than Epson scanners
Review of HP ScanJet 5370C by  Connoisseur_Haggler

Advantages: colour quality, can scan negatives
Disadvantages: Epson expensive

...There are a vast array of A4 flad bed scanners on the market today. Even some of the basic ones from 600 dpi offer superb results. I decided to look for one in the 600dpi+ range that not only scans photos and objects but also allows you to scan in negatives (very useful for old photos etc) The HP products are renounced for reliabilty, quality and reproducibilty and are not always cheap. However when I found the HP scanner of my choice HP5370 it appeared to have the same technical sppecification and features as a similarly priced EPSON 1240U Photo, BUT the HP is at least £55 cheaper!! This is strange! If anyone can give a true comparison between these 2 scanners: HP5370C v's EPSON Perfection 1240U Photo They are both 1200 x 2400 dpi optical Both are 42bit colour Both have film./slide adapter to scan negatives too! Both have OCR, 4... Read review
