A Truly Amazing Scanner
Review of Epson Perfection 1650 Photo by rex73

Advantages: Price, quality of workmanship, scan quality, speed
Disadvantages: None noted

...If you are tired of a speed and quality that your old scanner is giving you, and you want to replace it with something better, greater, than here is a product to consider. Epson Perfection 1650 Scanner. With a resolution of 1600 x 3200 (true hardware scan resolution and a 12800 x 12800 through the software) and a amazing range of 281.5 Trillion Colors (48-bit) this scanner is about to produce and reproduce a stunning quality of graphics every time you use it. The second notable feature of this scanner is its speed. Depending on a size and quality of the image you want to scan, you can expect a quite speedy scan (usually within a first minute or so, which definitely puts a kick to that old scanner that used to take an ages to produce a any kind of image that was not even close to what this scanner is capable of). As far... Read review

Cool Scanner
Review of Epson Perfection 1640SU by andycharger

Advantages: Great quality
Disadvantages: Expensive

...After finally commiting my little 600 DPI scanner to the scrapheap, I realised I needed quality scanning at a reasonable cost. One that could provide me with a decent picture grain and quality. With modern download speeds, internet pictures can afford to be a bit bigger in Kb size for the sake of extra quality. So I decided to purchase a `named` scanner with some good features. The Epson Perfection 1650 seemed as good as any. Sure you can pick up a budget scanner for £30 but at just over £100, this is by far the best quality scanner on the market for the money. Looks/build. ------------ It looks like any normal scanner with its grey/tan body and lift up lid but it seems more sturdy than most out there. The lid is more rigid and has a feel of quality during operation. Installation. ------------- Installation speed is quite quick. Its... Read review

reliable workhorse
Review of Epson Stylus Color 850 by voodoo

Advantages: speed colour, pages per inkwell
Disadvantages: price age

...This epson printer is bordering on the windows workgroup highend user market and it shows, with reliable parts and a larger ink tank than most epsons. the print quality is very good and little banding is in effect on the colour printing, the print quality on coated paper is very good only slightly as good as the epson photo printer. The print speed on the epson 850 is very good and this beauty just streams pages out almost as fast as a lazer printer. A good quality printer that is perfect for that little extra work.... Get Those Old Slides and Negs Onto CD
Review of Epson Perfection 1650 Photo by BNibbles

Advantages: Easy to install, and use. Good quality scans
Disadvantages: High definition means huge file sizes. Stands taller than normal

...’s almost a guarantee that it’ll go wrong OUTSIDE the warranty period” Anyway, my next venture into the wonderful world of multi-media was to have been a project to put all of my colour slides and negatives onto CD-Rs. The 4100c had no facility for this, so it’s untimely demise just brings forward the inevitable upgrade to something that does. Hey ho, dust off the flexible friend (again!). BASIC DETAILS So what did I buy? : The Epson 1650 Photo scanner, costing around £157 at www.dabs.com. I also paid the extra £3 to have it delivered after 5pm. It just goes to show how much cheaper this kit is getting. I’m sure I paid way more than that for the 4100c, and it doesn’t (or rather didn’t) do as much! The 1650 Photo comes firmly in the middle of Epson’s quality and price range, being neither a “pro” model nor entry level. a) Appearance Well, it... Read review

A perfect card, if you're on a budget!
Review of Club 3D Radeon X1650XT by Blabla10

Advantages: Good performance against Nvidia's 7600GT
Disadvantages: 1. The cooler. 2. Is becoming outdated.

...When ATi was fighting against Nvidia's 7600GT in late 2006, they released this card, the X1650XT. This card would prove to be a very good draw by ATi. X1650XT is based on the same core as its elder brother, the X1950PRO. The card has been in my computer since January 2007 now, and it has served its duty very well. The card will in most cases pass its closest opponent, the 7600GT. I have even maxed out Crysis (the FPS by Crytek) at 800x600 with this card! The bad side with this card is the cooler, not the cooler itself but the fan. If your case is dusty, the fan will most likely suck in all the dust and make a wall in front of the cooling fins. This card is a great buy, but as the card is starting to become outdated, I would rather buy a new DX10-card from either ATi or Nvidia.... Read review

Epson perfection
Review of Epson Stylus Color 860 by littleprince

Advantages: Fast, Excellent reproduction of colour, High quality
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...The stylus 860 is near perfect. Colour results are flawless, with printing at 1440dpi on glossy paper virtually indistinguishable from a photo. And this thing is fast too, it prints text and graphics at incredible speeds, and a particularly nice thing is that the printer is very quiet. I paid just £180 for this printer and it was an absolute bargain. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone that is involvd in design or graphics as a great printer to check colour reproduction and for general printing as well. Excellent.... Read review

Epson Especial
Review of Epson T0453 - print cartridge by trevorbrock

Advantages: High quality, lasting images
Disadvantages: Cost

...An ink cartridge is not really something to wax lyrical about is it? This magenta is designed for a few Epson printers, and I use it for my Epson Stylus C84. Sorry Epson, but I use compatibles from time to time, which do the donkey work perfectly well, much cheaper. I can have a compatible from Jettec for £4 while I pay about £7.99 in PCW for the real thing from Epson. Having said that, I recognize the quality of Epson and like to use one of their own brands every so often. They are readily available, easy to insert, prevent irritating messages - like "the cartridge you are using is not a genuine Epson T0453 - do you wish to continue using it ?", and always work well. Colours are very sharp, the ink dries instantly and never seems to fade. But they do not last as long as Jettec - which have an extra 30% as well, and are just too... Read review

Epson EMP X5
Review of Epson EMP X5 by LogitechUSAUK

Advantages: Good price
Disadvantages: Low resolution

...This is projector is affordable but still has some positive features. The resolution of 1024 x 768 allows clear projection with much detail. However if you are interested in High definition or multimedia i would not recommend this. However for business or education this is perfect. The 2200 ANSI Lumens allows the pictures to be very bright in well lit conditions. It was very easy to set this up and epson provided all the cables in needed. This epson website is also very helpful for driver and software updates. Even though this is not a DLP projector i think this projector meets its demands nicely and is a good price. Other products to consider would be the Optoma range since they also are very good.... Read review

Super Scanner at a Special Price
Review of Epson Perfection 1250 by LtSticks

Advantages: Simple, good interface, quality results
Disadvantages: None!

...I hadn't bought a scanner before I purchased this one, and so I wasn't sure of the results, however Epson is a good name to trust and so I felt that a scanner from them at less than 100 pounds would be reasonable. And my expectations were blown out the water! The software is excellent, the scanner itself is easy to install and work, and the additional programs with the package are outstanding. The scanner even comes with an adapter to scan photo negatives! Which although not useful for all, makes me feel that Epson have pulled out all the stops to ensure this package is well worth the price. I would recommend this to anyone buying a scanner for the first time, or even if they just want a new one. Epson have delivered the goods, as always.... Read review

Perfection from Epson
Review of Epson Perfection 1250 by Martinscholes

Advantages: Very good scanner
Disadvantages: None I have found

...I work in publishing and I need to scan photographs and documents for inclusion in magazines, newspapers and books that the company publishes. I find that the Epson Perfection 1250 has the quality that is required for the job. The scanner is easy to use and provides high quality scans every time that I use it. It works well not only as a scanner of photographs but also works well with several different types of OCR software that I have used in my working life. The thing that I like about the Epson Perfection 1250 is that it is easy to use. It really is just a matter of clicking on the desktop icon and following the onscreen instructions. A question that many people might ask is: "would a flatbed scanner of this type really be suitable for the publishing industry?" The answer has to be "yes." The company I work for publishes five...
