reliable workhorse
Review of Epson Stylus Color 850 by voodoo

Advantages: speed colour, pages per inkwell
Disadvantages: price age

...This epson printer is bordering on the windows workgroup highend user market and it shows, with reliable parts and a larger ink tank than most epsons. the print quality is very good and little banding is in effect on the colour printing, the print quality on coated paper is very good only slightly as good as the epson photo printer. The print speed on the epson 850 is very good and this beauty just streams pages out almost as fast as a lazer printer. A good quality printer that is perfect for that little extra work.... Epson perfection
Review of Epson Stylus Color 860 by littleprince

Advantages: Fast, Excellent reproduction of colour, High quality
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...The stylus 860 is near perfect. Colour results are flawless, with printing at 1440dpi on glossy paper virtually indistinguishable from a photo. And this thing is fast too, it prints text and graphics at incredible speeds, and a particularly nice thing is that the printer is very quiet. I paid just £180 for this printer and it was an absolute bargain. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone that is involvd in design or graphics as a great printer to check colour reproduction and for general printing as well. Excellent.... Read review

Hewlett Packard cheaper than Epson scanners
Review of HP ScanJet 5370C by Connoisseur_Haggler

Advantages: colour quality, can scan negatives
Disadvantages: Epson expensive

...There are a vast array of A4 flad bed scanners on the market today. Even some of the basic ones from 600 dpi offer superb results. I decided to look for one in the 600dpi+ range that not only scans photos and objects but also allows you to scan in negatives (very useful for old photos etc) The HP products are renounced for reliabilty, quality and reproducibilty and are not always cheap. However when I found the HP scanner of my choice HP5370 it appeared to have the same technical sppecification and features as a similarly priced EPSON 1240U Photo, BUT the HP is at least £55 cheaper!! This is strange! If anyone can give a true comparison between these 2 scanners: HP5370C v's EPSON Perfection 1240U Photo They are both 1200 x 2400 dpi optical Both are 42bit colour Both have film./slide adapter to scan negatives too! Both have OCR, 4... Read review

Super Scanner at a Special Price
Review of Epson Perfection 1250 by LtSticks

Advantages: Simple, good interface, quality results
Disadvantages: None!

...I hadn't bought a scanner before I purchased this one, and so I wasn't sure of the results, however Epson is a good name to trust and so I felt that a scanner from them at less than 100 pounds would be reasonable. And my expectations were blown out the water! The software is excellent, the scanner itself is easy to install and work, and the additional programs with the package are outstanding. The scanner even comes with an adapter to scan photo negatives! Which although not useful for all, makes me feel that Epson have pulled out all the stops to ensure this package is well worth the price. I would recommend this to anyone buying a scanner for the first time, or even if they just want a new one. Epson have delivered the goods, as always.... Read review

Why genuine consumables?
Review of Epson T0542 - print cartridge by malekowie

Advantages: Produce excellent quality prints.
Disadvantages: Price.

.... Not only photo paper, but genuine Epson ink for your printer. Using Epson media for Epson printer will guarantee best possible prints. T05 ranges of inks have been designed to deliver photo quality and long lasting prints (up to 90 years). The colours are vivid and crisp thank to UltraChrome Hi-Gloss ink pigment based UltraChrome technology, featuring new red and blue inks, and Gloss Optimiser. Full set contains 8 cartridges including 2 black colours, one photo and other non photo. Full set (8) of genuine Epson cartridges would cost you around £90. It's not cheap. But it guaranties resolution of up to 5760 x 144 dpi (drops per inch) and excellent results every time you pres print button, no streaks, no splashes, and just perfect prints. Moreover, every single cartridge will inform you how much of the ink is left, thank to Epson maintenance... Read review

Truly amazing Photo Printer
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R800 by Dave1508

Advantages: Outstanding Picture quality, 8 seperate ink tanks, CD Print
Disadvantages: Expensive, slightly larger than the standard desktop printer

...Obviously as a range topping printer, you'd expect the print quality to be that little bit special - and this printer doesn't dissapoint. With 8 seperate ink tanks, including a dedicated Gloss optimizer for high standard prints, the results are truly inspiring, with an updated Epson design, which still shows the family traits from previous models (Have an Epson Photo 900 as well) With the latest Epson Photoquicker software, print options can be accessed with ease, giving a full range of options to optimize Digital stills, remove red eye, and auto balance light (Just don't expect Adobe Photoshop type utilities). All current sizes of photo paper are installed in easy to use templates, which means a much reduced time from photo selection to print. The CD print utility and software are equally easy to use. With the right type of printable... Read review

Great printer - well worth the money
Review of Epson Stylus Photo 895 by carolburns

Advantages: great with photos as well as text printing
Disadvantages: loves ink too much

...We bought this printer for the business rather than leisure. We have used various makes of printer since having a computer but have found Epson to be great value for money. The quality of this printer exceeds even the newer models. The quality of photos is exceptional - no blurring or spotting as with some. If you forget to specify the type of paper (as I sometimes do) it makes no difference. It still prints out perfectly. We tend to do a lot of photographs for our hotel guests as calendars or group shots and they are very very pleased with the end result. As I said this was to be used for business only but that is now in the past. It is used for everything from photos to letters to brochures and business cards. As a business we have saved an unbelievable amount of money as we are able to print out our own brochures, business cards... Read review

What a canon - What A printer
Review of Canon PIXMA IP5000 by Davy-1

Advantages: Excellent all-round printer
Disadvantages: Non

...I had endless trouble with the two Epson printer's, one of them being a replacement. in the end I 'tossed it' and that was the best thing I ever did. I was dubious about the purchase of the ip5000, with forever having clogging problems with the Epson's I thought 'finer heads = more clogs' I took the bait and purchased one - how wrong I was. It is now over 3 months old and never had one single clog to date, I can simply print either a photo or a text document and I know it'll be perfect, with the Epson's I had to check each print even if it was text only. It produces first class text, just as good as my Samsung laser printer and just as fast after the laser has warmed up, I've printed photos on un-branded photo paper and for me they've been good. Cd printing is excellent too and easy to do a design in Media Face 4 or CD Label Maker... Read review

The printer of all printers!
Review of Epson Stylus Photo RX685 by Lee_Hodge

Advantages: Very detailed prints, fast, very easy to operate.
Disadvantages: noisy! VERY NOISY!! also abit on the big side!.

...specks in large blocks of solid colour. The RX685 is the only printer in the group with light cyan and light magenta cartridges, as well as normal cyan and magenta. These make for more precise colours and shading, especially on photos. Photo prints were excellent, with perfectly smooth shading, dark blacks, bright whites and superb contrast. While all other colours appeared normal, red shades were oversaturated, making some skin tones look flushed. Fortunately, we corrected this by turning off ICM colour adjustment. The scanner uses Epson's excellent scanner interface, which was both powerful and easy to use. Photo scans were precise, and colour reproduction was consistent, if not perfect. Low-resolution scans were quick and readable.... Read review
