...I bought this printer because my previous Canon broke and it costed more to repair it than buy a completely new one (and with more options too). All I wanted was A PRINTER with inexpensive cartridge... what I found was this "expensive-looking-but-cheap-in-price" Epson Stylus DX4450, and it was an excellent choice. I found VERY useful the scanner/copymachine function too... which comes handy more often than someone could imagine. I mostly print written documents so the fact that you buy colours separated (3 different cartridges) from the black cartridge is great. The cartridges are quite small and empty relatively fast but for that price I could not really complain. Picture quality is good too. ...I wanted to buy a printer which was reasonable quality, quick and had cartridges that lasted through a lot of prints. Print Quality/Speed The speed is generally quite quick, obviously full colour photos take a lot longer than black documents. When comparing to a cheap HP laser printer the quality of the Epson DX4450 prints are far superior, but lasers are far quicker. I have not had a printer/scanner/copier all in one before and this has proven quite handy. Build Quality The printer seems to be built quite well, it has a plasticy appearance but in full black is quite stylish. The top surface is quite shiney which attracts any finger prints but when rubbed with a dry cloth this is easily removed. It is quite noisey whilst printing and sometimes it finds it difficult to get paper from the feeder even though there is a lot of paper... Read review

...This is my third epson printer and the first one I have had that is a combination of scanner and printer. Both the prvious epsons were just printers. I was rather suprised by how big the DX4450 was, but then I was saving room by not having a seperate scanner. It looked quite stylish, black and silver so I decided to give it a go as it was nicely priced. I installed it without any difficulties, although, if it had been my first printer I might have had some problems, there were only brief written instructions accompanied by pictures. The ink cartridges were easy to install and I was up and running within about an hour of purchase. My first impression was reasonably good, although it was very noisy. Once it was actually printing it seemed quieter. I was quite suprised when the ink ran out after what seemed a very short period... Read review

...The Epson stylus 440 color printer is a robust, good quality printer. Having used one now for some two years I have a lot of faith in it. The quality of the print is good, and it is very easy to use. The ink cartridges are not over the top and can be bought in bulk, making them reasonably priced. It's self cleaning facilities are a premium. It is the second Epson I have had and the ongoing improvements by the company towards its printers have resulted in a very good product indeed. The printers are starting to age now and can be purchased second hand at around £40. This is a bargain if it is in good condition, worth a punt.... Read review

...I'd like to write a review of this product in the hope that other people realise that cheap does not neccessarily mean nasty! I picked this up for £40 from Currys digital (not sure if this is a special price at the moment). Overall, a very good printer as such... Print Quality/Speed -------------------------------------------- Quality settings: Draft (very grainy and faint, but quick) Text (standard print - decent enough quality for, er, text) Text & Image Photo Best Photo Obviously, as with most printers, using best uses more ink and these Epson range are very thirsty on ink, however the print quality on Best is amazing for a printer of this price. ...We were given the Epson stylus 440 in a package deal with our new computer we bought from time. And let me tell you the time it takes to print good big detailed pictures is quite slow but when they come out the quality is absolutly amazing. I dont mind waiting for it to print as long as it is of a good quality when it comes out. Ive printed quite alot things out using the Epson stylus 440 and there has never been a difference in quality. So hats off to you Epson you have a good printer in the stylus 440 and i would buy your products again.4/5... Read review

...This epson printer is bordering on the windows workgroup highend user market and it shows, with reliable parts and a larger ink tank than most epsons. the print quality is very good and little banding is in effect on the colour printing, the print quality on coated paper is very good only slightly as good as the epson photo printer. The print speed on the epson 850 is very good and this beauty just streams pages out almost as fast as a lazer printer. A good quality printer that is perfect for that little extra work.... ...The stylus 860 is near perfect. Colour results are flawless, with printing at 1440dpi on glossy paper virtually indistinguishable from a photo. And this thing is fast too, it prints text and graphics at incredible speeds, and a particularly nice thing is that the printer is very quiet. I paid just £180 for this printer and it was an absolute bargain. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone that is involvd in design or graphics as a great printer to check colour reproduction and for general printing as well. Excellent.... Read review

...Our Epson Stylus C46 was bought 3 or 4 years ago as a standby printer, as our Epson CX3200 was showing signs of advancing age. We paid around £50 for the C46 and were immediately pleased with its performance. Although a little slow, it made up for this by being easy to use, and producing good quality print and pictures. We were, therefore, dismayed to receive the message 'parts in this printer are now beyond their service life' , following which the C46 refused to function, having clearly aged much faster than the CX3200 which still struggles on. The problem is then whether it is cost-effective to repair a comparatively low price printer, assuming it is not possible to buy replacement parts. Or do we just consider such printers as disposable?... Read review
