Disadvantages: Bulky, takes up a lot of room.

...This is a good, reliable printer, ideal for use at home. Although it markets itself as a photo printer, settings can be adjusted so that 'best picture' printing is not used for plain text or draft copies. It is easy to use, however it can sometimes be unresponsive to commands and buttons may need to be pressed several times - However mine is now several years old. The printer is quite bulky and does take up quite a bit of room when in use, however paper trays can be folded away when not required. I have found 'paper jam' will often occur but usually after the printer has been in heavy use. All in all a good, standard printer. Nothing special but it does the job it was made to do....

...The first thing you notice about the Epson Stylus Photo R265 is that it's pretty large. You'd almost think it was a multifunction device, especially given it's height. As such you'll need a fair chunk of desk space to take it. That said, it's attractive enough if a little utilitarian. * The main features are: * 6 ink carts * CD/DVD Printing * Direct photo printing via PictBridge/USB * Claria Long life inks * Borderless printing * 5760x1440 dpi resolution As you can see, apart from the CD/DVD feature, it's a pretty vanilla device. Advantages: Price, Quality, ease of use, gives you more control over pictures
Disadvantages: If just just want to print normal photos, still cheaper to use a photo shop

...decent quality printing paper, because if you use bog standard paper, however good the printer is, you will not get the best end result. I wanted quality, so got some proper photo quality printing paper, and the photos are outstanding! I am not totally sure about the economy of using the product, as prices at photo shops have been geting better, meaning uunless there is a reduced price in the ink and photo paper, it will always be a bit more expensive to have your own photo printer, but in my opinion it opens the doors for a lot of opportunities, you have an open canvas, you dont only have to use the photo that you have taken as "a photo", but you can (using a photoshop style program) get a lot more out of one photo than if you took it to a photo shop! In my opinion, this Epson Stylus Photo R285 is the best photo printer that I have...

Epson R2880... Superb printer and well worth the premium price

Disadvantages: You have to switch black inks for glossy and matte finishes

...also a tray for holding printable CD and DVD's. Setting up is really easy. You turn the unit on, install the eight ink cartridges and let it prime and ready the printer. One extra step though, before you install the inks. You have to decide what sort of paper you are going to print on first, matte or glossy. This choice determines whether you should install the matte black or photo black ink cartridge (both supplied). If you choose one and later decide to swap to an opposing paper type, you have to swap inks. This is not a big problem, but it does use (and waste) a little ink in the process. Once the printer is ready, you need to install at the very minimum, the printer driver. I would suggest downloading the latest version from the Epson website, so you are right up-to-date. You can also install extra software too, like a photo manager...

Disadvantages: Ditched by Epson in favor of the R300

...I think this review now will now have to aimed at the second hand printer market, as I?m 99 % sure that you?ll not find it brand new anymore. This fact is a shame because apart from it being a top notch printer and adding to Epson?s range, I recon it has all the same internals as the more popular R300, only lacking basically the memory card reader and a few updates that not many of us would notice. Obviously, I stand to be corrected if anyone knows better, this is only my opinion. I bought this machine last year in the Jan? sales for £65, a super bargain I think. This is my 3rd Epson printer, also had 2 Lexmark?s, but buggered both of them up by messing with the very expensive ink cartridges. ...the CD printing tray is drawn into the printer prior to printing, and protrudes from the rear of the printer itself. I found that I needed to allow some 8 inches behind the printer. The printer has the ability to print to the edge of the print page (although quality may deteriorate slightly toward the edges), and if the recommended Epson photo paper is used, and your original source image is of sufficient resolution, the print quality is excellent. The prints dry very quickly, and the whole thing is very fuss free.
