Reviews of epson stylus scan 2500
User beware
Review of Epson Stylus Scan 2500 by
jason_webb
Advantages: feature packed
Disadvantages: expensive to maintain, hard to setup
...in which they were to be used in a secure cash booth, with medium use, for all of the above funtionality. They were also being used alongside a parallel zip 250 drive (data backup) and a keyboard connected cheque reader.
The initial problems started after we had installed the printer. After connecting the printer to the zip drive through port and restarting the machine, we had no response at all from the printer. After checking cables, drives and reinstallation of drivers, we ventured to the web site which had a comment hidden in a tucked away technical support section saying "The stylus scan 2500 is not compatible with zip drive ports" !!!! WHY !!! I have used zip drives in many environments, from DOS and OS/2 through to NT4 and never have i encountered an incompatible device.
We did contact epson support for a solution, but after spending 30...

Epson Stylus DX4050 - Overview
Review of Epson Stylus DX4050 by
olliebradley
Advantages: Great prints, great speed, AMAZING price
Disadvantages: Honestly? Printing at least fifty sheets a week, I've experienced NONE!
...The Stylus DX4050 from Epson represents great value for money, ease of use and a very strong name behind it. Epson have been going since the 1940's, and first entered a printer device to the market in the 70's. I have always used an Epson printer and found them to be very long-lasting and excellent value for money.
From a technical point, the printer is great for home use. Excellent quality, fast speeds, flexible software enabling you to produce a range of different types of prints from standard A4 to booklets, posters and envelopes. The built-in scanner is sufficient too, with one touch copying in black and white or colour even when the printer is not plugged into a PC or the PC is turned off. Scanning images to the PC couldn't be simpler either - the scanner can perform a quick scan to automatically detect what type of image you...

DURABrite is not a photo quality solution!!!!
Review of Epson CX5200 by
David-the-IT-Manager
Advantages: Solid build
Disadvantages: Durabright Ink, cropped edges of scans, poor support from Epson
...I bought my CX5200 thinking the DURABrite ink system would be an improvement to the dye based inks that Epson has used in the past. I have owned an Epson Stylus Plus, the Stylus 1520, the 1160 and the 880. I have always regarded the Epson resolution to be of the high achievable standard of their day. And many glossy prints have gone out to friends, family and clients for high-end presentation work. But the DURABrite ink that Epson is now pushing really falls way beyond what I expected from this new generation of printer. Since the ink “sits” on the surface of the photo quality paper the glossy surface is really matted. Epson appears to be offering “new” features in their print line with the Photo RX500 which adds extra “gloss” over the inked surface to return the glossy finish back to the print. I take great exception to this “new...

Best buy, Absolutely
Review of Microtek Scanmaker III by
darkteckno
Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Case colour
...I bought the scanner after Which? made it one of their best buys. According to Which? it has the best scan quality of all the scanners they looked at, despite being one of the cheapest. Sure enough the scan quality is indeed excellent and, although I have not thoroughly explored the software as yet, I have so far been impressed with that also. I would not hesitate to recommend the 3600 to you. This is an Excellent scanner which produces excellent quality print with an Epson stylus 760 printer. I would recomend anyone on a budget to buy this scanner as it does the same as a scanner that costs twice the price....

I love my Epson C44
Review of Epson Stylus C44UX by
suedebottom
Advantages: Price and size
Disadvantages: None
...Price
I could not resist buying this printer when I saw that an Epson was on sale for £25.00 with two cartridges. Some cartridges cost £25 on their own.
Space saving
I am very satisfied with my little Epson. It sits happily in the space in my Argos computer desk and hasn't required any maintenance.
U.S.B. connection
I find it annoying that printers as a whole do not come with U.S.B. leads. I think it cost me about £10 for a U.S.B. lead, but it's not just Epson which doesn't supply leads.
Epson cartridges
Epson cartridges are expensive, and as I do quite a bit of printing, I have been buying compatibles from britink and nutronics. A message comes up saying I have used a compatible, but it runs quite happily.
Visual instructions on cartridge change
I'm sure beginners will appreciate the step by step instructions which...

Epson Stylus 460 Printer - the best budget printer
Review of Epson Stylus Color 460 by
m.holmes
Advantages: High quality for a low price
Disadvantages: unless you re-fill ink, it will be expensive to run
...I first bought an Epson stylus printer around four years ago and have bought them ever since.
For price and performance they can’t be beaten in my opinion.
If you use quality paper you get great printouts and printing scanned images at photo quality on glossy paper is almost as good as cheap photo processing.
Don’t expect the printer to last more than around three years of heavy use though, but for the price you can afford to buy a new one every few years anyway.
One thing that I do, and isn’t recommended by Epsom, is re-filling the ink cartridges. I find this the only way to keep the cost down to an affordable level. The quality doesn’t suffer as far as I have found.
They are very reliable and I have found they don’t go ‘mechanically' wrong, only die after several years of business use – which is to be expected....

Fantastic scanner, photocopier + printer All-In-1!
Review of Epson Stylus CX5200 by
pinkelephantuk
Advantages: Fantastic print quality of photos + documents, both printed, and scanned ones!
Disadvantages: Expensive ink cartridges
...I have been using my Epson Stylus CX5200 for over two years, and I want to write about what good quality print-outs I get from it. It produces such good results, when scanning and photocopying documents, that friends always comment, 'Wow, your printer's really good'.
My printer not only prints, but scans and photocopies too. Anything I photocopy, even photos, come out very nicely
Background
The printer cost about £150. It was a birthday present, and I am so pleased with it. There is a built-in scanner and colour photocopier! Yes, you can photocopy in colour, and the result is brilliant - you can hardly tell the difference between the photocopy and your original. By this, I mean the colour-quality is BRILLIANT - the colours are vivid, and there are no tell-tell streaks that you can get with some photocopies.
Cost of ink
I would...

EPSON STYLUS CX6600 MULTI-PRINTER, TRULY SUPERB!
Review of Epson Stylus CX6600 by
Hi-Spec-Tek
Advantages: STYLISH,WELL ENGINEERED, GOOD QUALITY PRINTING AND COPYING.
Disadvantages: I HAVE FOUND NONE IN ALMOST 4 YEARS!!
...THE EPSON STYLUS CX6600 MULTI-FUNCTION PRINTER.
My last review was of the Epson Stylus R265. In that review I also mentioned that I had one for about four years that had been trouble free. THIS IS THE ONE!!. I am delighted that I purchased this model for my scanning, faxing, photographic printing requirements. Regarding the design, there are no square corners! It has a nicely rounded and an asthetically pleasing.
I purchased this model for the princely sum of £99.99. I honestly think this printer will outlive me! For a multi-printer it has everything except that I have to put the paper in! LOL! Well I recommend this one to anyone that needs this kind of office or home printer with its good average printing speed (see specifications). The print quality is always good. The ink usage is good. The ease of use I would give 4 out of 5...

The Best Things Come in Small Packages? Please Rate
Review of Epson Stylus D78 by
matty168
Advantages: Nice Design, Cheap Ink Cartridges
Disadvantages: Noisy
...Epson Stylus D78 Printer
I bought this printer as a direct replacement for my old Epson printer which recently went on the blink. Anyway I have used Epson's in the past so thought i'd stick with them as third party/remanufactured ink cartiridges are easy to get and also cheap too.
Anyway onto the printer itself, I bought mine for £39.99 from John Lewis as they had it in stock and their customer support is excellent too. It comes with a 1 year warranty as standard which is the same no matther where you buy it. There is the option to extend the warranty but it is probably not worthwhile since printers are so cheap to replace and new models come out all the time.
When i opened the box, the box contents were as follows:
# Epson Stylus D78 Printer
# 4 Individual ink cartridges
# Power cable
# Driver CD
# Set Up Sheet
# Warranty Document...
