Guinea pigs

Advantages: friendly, fun to watch, cute
Disadvantages: none

...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What is a Guinea Pig? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Guinea pig is a small rodent whos real name is a cavy. Guinea pigs originally came from South America and wild Guinea Pigs were eaten as food all over the world. There are many different breeds of Guinea Pig and they also have various different hair styles such as short, long, wiry, tufty etc. A few years ago now I brought two baby guinea pigs from a breeder. One was a short-haired guinea pig which had a smooth glossy black and white coat so he was named Badger. The other guinea pig was a white long haired guinea pig which my brother name John-Smith (after the dude in Pocahontas). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Buying a guinea pig. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As with any animal you should be sure that you will able to care for them properly...

Bradley! a Guinea pig case study.

Advantages: Gentle, Placid Rewarding
Disadvantages: None!

...As some people may have noticed, we have a guinea pig. His name is Bradley and I'm a bit biased, but he deserves a review of his own! Guinea pigs make great pets for people of all ages. They are small, portable, friendly, can be kept indoors or out and even house trained if you have lots of time to spare. They require very little maintenance but really do appreciate a daily cuddle or will even sit and listen if you want to have a chat while doing the housework. Guineas make great listeners. They are very gentle and will allow anyone to handle them if they are gentle too. Guinea pigs are not known for being very intelligent, but do recognise their owners and can be trained to do very simple things if the task is repeated often enough. Health-wise they are really easy to keep - as long as they are cleaned out regularly...

Guinea Pigs

Advantages: Very loving
Disadvantages: Can be smelly

...Yep, another pet review! Guinea Pigs are a very popular pet for both children and adult. This review is going to give you some general information about choosing the one thats right for you and their general care ~*~ Background ~*~ Guinea Pigs originated from South America where they were used as food. They have since spread all over the world where they are now pets. The guinea pig is very shy by nature and will spend a lot of time hiding. They will come out to eat at dawn and dusk when they will be harder to see ~*~ Choosing a guinea pig ~*~ Guinea Pigs are very sociable animals and so it is worth considering buying two as opposed to one. Some people keep rabbits and guinea pigs together, however there have been reports of rabbits being attacked by their guinea pig companion, although this is rare it is worth...

Guinea Pigs Cheap To Buy -But Easy To Neglect.

Advantages: Very very cute animals. May live 10 years.
Disadvantages: Need a lot of care if they are to be looked after properly

...Here is my review which is the product of 20 years of keeping and breeding guinea pigs. In this review I want to do something to help the widespread abuse of these little creatures which comes about through a general lack of knowledge. The problem is they are cheap to buy so many are encouraged by this but did you know they can out live your dog? I have the 10 most important things you should be aware of before you purchase. GUINEA PIG RULES 1. They can live for 10 years. I have had many wonderful guineas celebrating a decade of health so please do not buy them for young children on impulse as unlike hamsters they live a very long life if cared for properly. Please ask yourself a million times over if you really want to buy them for a young child. They can be suitable but you must not leave them alone with the animals as they...

Great Gerty Guinea pigs!

Advantages: Easy to look after, Beautiful and rarely bite!
Disadvantages: Can be timid if not handled regularly

...Being a veterinary nurse i come across these little creatures nearly every day. History Guinea pigs originally come from south america and before coming domesticated were used as a source of food (yuk i know!) They come in lots of diferent colours and varieties such as short and long hairs, and make excellent first pets for children as they rarely if ever bite! Food - they need to be fed a complete food such a gerty guinea pig, usually brands today have added vitamin c which is extremely important for guinea pigs as they cannot generate their own like other animals. Also feeding fresh fruit and veg such as carrots, apples etc is extremely important, along with fresh hay and water. Gerty guinea pig is an excellent brand to feed guinea pigs as it contains all the minerals and vitamins needed including vit c which is extremely...

I loved my Guinea pig

Advantages: super pet
Disadvantages: none

...Guinea pig, "Cavia porcellus." . When I was about 10-14 I had a guinea pig as a pet. His name was Gulliver. I have fond memories of Gulliver so let me tell you all I know about guinea pigs. Guinea pigs originate from South America where they have been known of for over 3 thousand years. They can still be found wild in some areas. They live in long grass and other animal’s empty burrows. In some areas of the world Guinea pigs are food by humans. Well why not we eat other animals why not guinea pigs. We did not have guinea pigs in England till after the 17-century when the Spanish conquered the Incas and brought the cavies into Europe. The guinea pig is a rodent and includes in his extended family the common dormouse, the American Beaver, crested porcupine and the South American Capybara. GUINEA PIG...

Papua New Guinea - Port Moresby and around

Advantages: Stunningly beautiful, friendly English speaking people
Disadvantages: Dangerous, unless you follow stringent rules.

...I made five one month trips to PNG through 2007. Apart from the small isolated patch of jungle where I worked, my main impression from a visitor's point of view was in Port Moresby, the capital, and Lalouta Island (Dive Centre) about 5kms away. Generally the people are wonderfully friendly. Bad people are referred to throughout PNG by the charming name of "rascals." Their economic woes have of course caused painful unemployent and a dispossessed youth who have turned to drugs and robbery. As all reviews have stated, it isn't safe to walk the streets day or night. Taxis are safe if you order them through your hotel and are not expensive, but you always need to have your eyes looking behind you. ATM cash points are fairly well distributed, but some banks don't take some cards and some don't take others. If you can calculate what cash...

Hotel International

Advantages: Location, breakfasts
Disadvantages: Poor rooms

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...
