GREAT BOOK
Review of Eragon & Eldest - Christopher Paolini by
hash007
Advantages: great storyline full of magical and mythical creatures
Disadvantages: 3rd book isn't out yet
...If you liked Lord of the Rings then you will love this book.
Anyone who likes reading fantasy, medieval books with lots of action and detail will find this is for them. These books are probably my favourite.
Eragon
Eragon tells the story of a poor farm boy called Eragon and how his life is changed forever when he finds a dragon egg while hunting for meat. The egg hatches into a dragon and Eragon is in danger because the king is looking for dragons. Eragons father is killed ruthelessly so he sets out on a journey to avenge his death with a storyteller brom. He learns Eragon is a dragonrider and teaches him magic and fighting skills as they travel. They both grow stronger and Eragon and his dragon Saphira join a group of rebels called the varden. They resist the king and fight his evil armys. This book is fantastic and full of magic...

Eragon - Inheritance Book One - C Paolini
Review of Eragon - Christopher Paolini by
tizzyday
Advantages: An enthralling tale of a boy and his Dragon.
Disadvantages: You will have to take breaks to eat and sleep.
...When Christopher Paolini wrote Eragon he was 15 years old and had just graduated from High School (early). Instead of settling into the everyday doldrums that are life, he did what many of us wish we could have done and wrote a book.
Eragon is the story of a young farm hand who lives with his Uncle (Garrow) and his cousin (Roran). By all accounts he is an ordinary boy, until he finds a strange blue stone whilst out hunting.
As his hunt has been otherwise unsuccessful, Eragon decides to sell the stone so that he can buy meat for his family. However, he cannot find anyone who will purchase it. Downhearted he takes the stone home and hides it from Garrow and Roran.
Eragon awakes in the middle of the night to find that the stone has broken. It was not a stone but a dragon egg! He is now the proud owner of a majestic blue dragon...

Eldest - Inheritance Two - C Paolini
Review of Eldest - Christopher Paolini by
tizzyday
Advantages: More addictive than the last!
Disadvantages: Headaches from reading too much!
...If I am completely honest, once I read Eragon I did not think that Christopher Paolini would be able to repeat his success with Eldest...I was wrong!
For those of you have not read Eragon, where have you been? It centres around Eragon (the last Dragon Rider) and his blue Dragon, Saphira. They leave the small village in which Eragon was raised to seek revenge upon the evil Ra'Zac for the death of Garrow (Eragons' Uncle). The are then drawn into of world of Good versus Evil and an epic battle begins.
After the death of Brom in Book One, Eragon was taken to Tronjeim, a dwafen city, to meet the Varden. And it is there his training begins.
He meets the powerful Arjihad, leader of the Varden and his beautiful daughter Nasuada. He also meets the repugnant Twins, but I do not want to give too much of the storyline away...
However...

Eldest. Less Action, More Umph!
Review of Eldest - Christopher Paolini by
hypnoticstate
Advantages: An excellent book for character development
Disadvantages: Lacks action.
...Eldest. The sequel to Eragon by Christopher Paolini. I have mixed opinions on the book but on the whole, i enjoyed it a lot. Eragon starts off the story in this, the inheritance trilogy. It follows the events that occur to a farm boy of 17 when he finds a dragon egg and becomes the first of the legendary dragon riders in centuries. With his new found abilities in magic and strength, he chooses to find the varden, a rebel society opposed to the evil king Galbatorix, in order to help them fight against the empire that killed his uncle. It was an outstanding book (though the film did it NO justice whatsoever) and this, Eldest, is the story that follows immediately on from Eragon. In this story, Eragon must travel to the land of the elves who, highly skilled at magic, will train Eragon in the attributes he needs in order to fulfil his duty...

Eragon (still cant put it down after 2 yrs)!
Review of Eragon - Christopher Paolini by
Takiraj101
Advantages: Really, really good!
Disadvantages: absolutely nothing!
... Eragon
Writer of this book: Christopher Paolini
Blurb: When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds. Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands. ..

Is the sequel as good as it's predecessor??
Review of Eldest - Christopher Paolini by
rosieemma91
Advantages: Great read, with action romance and death.
Disadvantages: The next book isn't out yet!!
...This is the sequel to the smash hit book 'Eragon' by Christopher Paolini.
The book's cover is simple yet interesting, with a red border and a red dragon pictured on it. At the top in small letters is written 'The Sunday Times bestseller' which is, I am told, a good thing to be. All in all, I really liked the appearance of the book, but there again, you're probably more interested in what was written in the 600 + pages as opposed to the colour and picture on the cover.
I love the way this book is presented inside. On the first double page spread there is a map of Alagaesia (where the story is set) and the detail allows you to imagine what it would be like to be there. I found myself referring back to this map when any journey was made throughout the story, just to see what areas of land the characters would have to cross to reach...

well done Christopher Paolini!
Review of Eragon - Christopher Paolini by
ferrit54
Advantages: well written and enjoyable
Disadvantages: too short
...Eragon is book one of the Inheritance Trilogy about a young boy who finds a Dragon egg in the mountains near his home in a magical land called Alagaesia. The egg hatches for his and he has to set about the tasks of becoming a dragon rider, evading the evire emperor Galbatorix's forces and gaining refuge with the rebels known as the varden and destory the evil spirit possessed magician known as Durza the Shade.
This book is compelling and exciting and is very well written, with detailed characters, innovative magic and several languages that Paolini created himself especially for the story including Dwarvish and Elvish otherwise known as the high speech.
The book is very good and leaves you craving the next book wanting to know what becomes of the evil of the wound eragon gains after defeating Durza and his urgal horde in the home...

Eragon the Movie - Ohhh dear
Review of Eragon DVD by
rosieemma91
Advantages: Some good acting talent and good action scenes
Disadvantages: Not faithful to the original storyline
...Not what you might call a smash hit. This movie has caused fans of the series by Christopher Paolini to cry out in horror.
The movie rarely sticks to the book's plot, adding details such as a shadow dragon and dragon fight towards the end, and omitting key points such as the twins and Katrina.
This has not only upset fans, but has made it nigh on impossible for movie makers to create a sequel to this movie, as both Katrina and the Twins play key parts in the book two, Eldest.
The acting of lead Ed Speelers has also been branded as wrong for the part of Eragon. He seems to be in a state of permanant surprise/wonderment/stupidity.
The fact that Arya was played by a blonde was also a sore point with fans, and there is no sign in the film of her pointed ears. In fact, they are noticibly rounded.
However, if you haven't read the book...

ERAGON (2005)
Review of Eragon - Christopher Paolini by
Moogiekupo
Advantages: Excellent characters, emotional rollercoaster & full of surprises.
Disadvantages: Too long at times, not so original anymore.
...I bought 'Eragon' as a 3 for 2 offer from Waterstones (original price of £6.99). It didn't appeal to me at first for some reason. I love fantasy books, but perhaps the colour of the book being a dusty blue meant I thought it was aimed for the male audience. I bought it anyway, as other books were either less appealing or I already own it. A book for the boys…how wrong can I be and as they say…never judge a book by it's cover.
I knew that I was addicted to it very soon after reading it. I go to bed an hour earlier so I can snuggle up cosily to indulge into it. I had more baths recently too, though my ungrateful eczema is not appreciating it. This poor book has taken a few dips into my bubble bath. I get so carried away with the book, that I forget where I am and then….Oops. Obviously this is frustrating, as I have to dry...

Come Fly With Me
Review of Eragon DVD by
CarlG
Advantages: Good Effects, Easy Viewing
Disadvantages: None
...We have wanted to see Eragon for a long time and actually got round to it last week. The film is broadly a fantasy film and from looking at the trailers / advertising you could be forgiven for thinking it is just a "Lord of the Rings" rip of but there is more to it than that.
Yes it is, like many other films about the power of good over evil and it also features dragons but really that is where the similarites end.
The movie is set in the Kingdom of Alagaesia where years ago everyone used to ride dragons and live in harmony, that was until Galbatorix (played by John Malkovich) decided to gather toghether a few like minded individuals (including his right hand man, the wizard Durza fabulously played by Robert Carlyle) to form an evil allience, start a civil war and install himself as king and in the process wipe out all of the dragons...
