Unplugging The Musical Ability Of Eric Clapton

...As an artist, Eric Clapton has done a huge amount to promote early blues musicians, reworking some songs, and simply playing versions that follow them to the note. This is notably obvious on Me & Mr Johnson, his tribute to the work of Robert Johnson, often seen as the king of delta blues, but can be found throughout his catalogue. His ability as a guitarist is well known and it is prominent throughout the album as you might guess, being backed by a strong group of musicians to further add to the intimacy of the performance. And it is this ability that allows him to delve into the blues catalogue and provide covers that almost match the beauty of the originals, although admittedly with a larger instrumental backing in most cases. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Advantages: Funny moments, good main character, easy to read
Disadvantages: Not as good as other Pratchett books

...One of the earliest and shortest Discworld novels, the best thing about it is that it's about Rincewind the wizard, one of Pratchett's best characters. Other than that, it's not one of his greatest, and nowhere near the quality of Wyrd Sisters. Based on the Faust myth, Eric, a boy who wants to conjure demons, accidentally gets a pathetic wizard instead, and demands 3 wishes. The current ruler of Hell decides to help out Rincewind without his knowledge and grant the wishes, which inevitably get Rincewind and Eric into trouble. Luckily for them, the demons aren't happy with Hell's ruler, and are hatching plan to get rid of him and his love of paperwork and filing. For a newcomer to Pratchett, I wouldn't recommend this one, but having said that it can still raise a few smiles and isn't bad for killing time on the journey to work....

Advantages: Hysterically Funny, a fast read, interesting characters, fun plot

...I'm not sure how this book got into the category for James Finn Garner, but no matter - I'm sure Eric Garcia would find that amusing. In fact, I can't see how Eric couldn't find humour in anything. Take for instance this book - Cassandra French's Finishing School for Boys. This is Eric's biting humorous satire on the "chick-lit" genre. Cassandra French is a character that any woman would envy. She's beautiful, has a lovely home and what seems to be a great job - she's a lawyer for a Hollywood studio. Mind you, she doesn't get the really big cases, being in the Business Affairs department, but what does that matter when you meet stars every day? Anyway, Cassandra has a vocation. Cassandra knows exactly how all women really want to be treated. But that may not be an advantage, if she and her friends can't find men who will...

Eric, Delaney and Bonnie.

Advantages: Powerful, upbeat, superb recordings

...To be honest, I am not at all a fan of Eric Clapton! And to be quite honest, being only 18 myself I don't even know who Delaney and Bonnie are. I am told by my dad that they were part of a group called Delaney and Bonnie and friends which once featured many different people, like, the genius that is Eric Clapton. I accidentally started listening to this as it was on random in my dad's CD changer in his car. Immediately, I liked the first song 'Things get better' I found it a very upbeat song which was the song that made me listen on. I think it was a really happy, feel good song, and I didn't expect it to be so fast and energetic. I hadn't really heard much of Eric Clapton before and what I had heard was different to this song. I normally wouldn't listen to this type of music, but even as a non-musical person I could appreciate...

...One More Car, One More Rider by Eric Clapton When this album came out I hadn't made my annual pilgrimage to see Mr Clapton for a few years as he seemed to be taking a break. So I was having withdrawal symptoms of live music at its best and that's what you get from this artist his best at every performance. So it was with great relief that I received this CD for a present for Christmas 2003. . Although in 2004 I saw him at the M.E.N. in Manchester. When putting the CDs on I would make sure you're not interrupted as this is a live CD. Tracks on the first CD Open with a sit down set. 1. Key To The Highway - written by William Broonzy and Charles Seegar - This song kicks the album off and it is one of the best and most covered blues. Most famously by Brownie McGhee & Sonnie Terry. Review of One More Car One More Rider (Live) [ECD] - Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton pays homage to Robert Johnson.

Advantages: Robert Johnsons music is showcased by great musicians.
Disadvantages: Not all Robert Johnsons songs were covered.

...I rate this excellent because the guitarist pays homage to his hero, in his style the musicianship is without fault throughout. It is nice to see the Blues played with such energy and obvious enjoyment by all concerned. The only thing that could be a negative is that not all of Robert Johnsons songs have been covered by Eric Clapton yet and subsequentely presented on an album. I hope that these will be done on a future album, as EC has covered most of his work. I have personally heard Eric Clapton play "Milk Cows Calf Blues" and "Little Queen of Spades" from this album at the Royal Albert Hall and at the Manchester Evening News Arena and the live versions were even better than on the cd. Robert Johnson, in his short life, only wrote and recorded 29 songs before he was killed, the most popular version of his death being that he...
