Eric ' King' Cantona DVDs

Advantages: Follow Eric Cantona through his Manchester United Career
Disadvantages: Repeats itself on the DVDs

...Eric Cantona: The Complete Collection. There are three DVDs in this collection there called, Eric The King, Cantona Speaks, and Au Revoir Cantona. The first DVD Eric The King, is all about the triumphs of Cantona's brilliant career with Manchester United. Cantona reveals the secrets of his success, and what sets him apart from being a poet loving man, to a hot tempered, visionary skills footballing genius. The second DVD Cantona Speaks, is all about his life in Britain ans with Man Utd. From highs like winning the double Double in 1996, and winning the Football Writers' Player of the Year. To the lows like the kung fu-style attack on a fan, at Selhurst Park, being fined £20,000 and sentenced to two weeks in prison which was reduced to 120 hours community service for the attack. The third DVD Au Revoir Cantona, is all...

Fullers London Porter

Advantages: Nice complex, roasty taste. Not too expensive.
Disadvantages: A bit heavy sometimes. Not as refreshing as a lager for example.

...Fullers London Porter. 5.4% ABV Usually £1.89 for a single bottle. But on the current 4 for 3 deal at Sainsbury's it comes to £1.42 per bottle. London Porter is brewed by Fuller, Smith & Turner Plc at their Griffin Brewery in Chiswick London. Next to the river Thames in their 350 year old brewery which is the oldest in London. It is easilly available from Sainsbury's and probably also from the other main supermarkets. The porter has a smooth, roasty and complex taste. It's quite rich so is more one for a quiet night in than if you want a few more beers. It's colour is very dark, almost black. There is a slight tint of ruby if held up to the light. It holds a thick, tan coloured head which clings to the sides of the glass. This is similar to a stout, only with a sweeter malty flavour and less bitter than...

Review of Fuller's London Porter

A PORTLY PORTER

Advantages: Interesting flavours - rich, dark and strong
Disadvantages: could be an acquired taste

...of Britain competition, Fuller's have won the Beer of the Year award five times. Their beers have been best in class nine times and ESB has been voted Best Strong Ale an unprecedented seven times making it a bit of a legend. Overall, fuller's have won more awards than any other British brewer. FULLER'S LONDON PORTER won gold and silver medals at the 1999, 2000 and 2002 International Beer & Cider Competitions. Abridged from: http://www.fullers.co.uk/ -------------------------INTERLUDE-------------------------- A kangaroo kept getting out of his enclosure at London Zoo. Knowing that he could hop high, the zoo officials put up a ten foot fence. He was out the next morning, just roaming around the zoo. A 15ft fence was put up. Again he go out. When the fence was 25ft high, a camel in the next enclosure asked the kangaroo...

Unplugging The Musical Ability Of Eric Clapton

Advantages: Great Tracks Throughout
Disadvantages: None

...As an artist, Eric Clapton has done a huge amount to promote early blues musicians, reworking some songs, and simply playing versions that follow them to the note. This is notably obvious on Me & Mr Johnson, his tribute to the work of Robert Johnson, often seen as the king of delta blues, but can be found throughout his catalogue. His ability as a guitarist is well known and it is prominent throughout the album as you might guess, being backed by a strong group of musicians to further add to the intimacy of the performance. And it is this ability that allows him to delve into the blues catalogue and provide covers that almost match the beauty of the originals, although admittedly with a larger instrumental backing in most cases. The album itself was recorded in a small venue to an equally small audience, whom I assume are big fans...

Fuller's London Porter

Advantages: Great beer
Disadvantages: None

...Fuller's London Porter is a fine Porter which apparently follows fairly closely the London Porter ales of yesteryear. Although this London Porter is considerably weaker in terms of alcoholic potency that the Porter ales drunk by the Porters of the 18 and 19 century in London. Those chaps knew how to work hard and play hard, too! This particular Porter is 5.4% alcohol. It has a decent head on it and it has a good, dark colour to it. If you hold it up to the light you can just about see through it But there beer is totally pure and wholesome. Well, being brewed by Fullers, you could really expect nothing less, could you? It has a good, robust aroma, which has undertones of softer biscuitiness and a hint of chocolate. The taste? How to describe the taste? The combination of pale, crystal, brown and chocolate malts gives Fullers...

The Porter Brook Valley, Sheffield

Advantages: Lots Of Open Spaces, Easily Accesible
Disadvantages: Can Get Busy At Times

...The Porter Valley lies to the Southwest of Sheffield City Centre and includes several Parks and Public Woodlands, including Endcliffe Park and Ecclesall Woods. The Valley follows the course of the River, called the Porter Brook, which has its source high in the moorlands of the Peak District. This River flows right into the Centre of Sheffield where it joins the River Sheaf, which in turn flows into the River Don. Within the Valley there are a sequence of six millponds (known locally as 'dams'). The Water Power that these Dams once provided via a set of Water Wheels was instrumental in the development of this Valley during the Industrial Revolution. This Water Power was used for a variety of different industries on the Porter, but in particular for Corn Milling (at Mayfield), Iron Forging (at Forge Mill),and Wire Drawing...

FREE DVDs

Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review

...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them. ∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊ Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

My Next Porter Call...

Advantages: A good example of a Porter. Nice colour and consistent quality.
Disadvantages: Not as rich or flavoursome as some beers. Porters are often hard to find (and not just at Railway stations!).

...Last night we went to a CAMRA meeting at The Derby Tup ~ one of Chesterfield?s most famous Real Ale pubs. We tried one or two beers but also opted for an old favourite. Being quite partial to Milds, Stouts and Porters, we settled on a beer we had enjoyed before ~ Burton Bridge Porter. The Burton Brewery, located on Bridge Street in Burton on Trent Staffordshire, began brewing in 1982 ~ June to be precise! The brewery was founded by Bruce Wilkinson and Geoff Mumford, who were employees of Allied Breweries. Burton Bridge own four pubs in Burton (The Burton Bridge Inn, The Prince Alfred, The Great Northern and The Devonshire) and I have had some excellent beer in at least three of them (I haven?t been in The Great Northern). They also supply around 300 other outlets ~ we get their beers as Guest Ales (in pubs like Wetherspoons...

Porters- A Traditional English Restaurant

Advantages: (+)Fresh food, great taste, well priced
Disadvantages: (-)none

...I visited Porters English Restaurant in June 2006. I had planned a day out for my boyfriend and I for our anniversary and I had booked Porters for no particular reason other than it was an option available for a theater deal. As I'm quite fussy with food I decided this one out of the options would probably have been the safest option for me! We had booked the whole thing over the Internet and wasn't quite sure what to expect. Our booking confirmation came through and we had a table reserved for 13:00 hours Saturday lunchtime. On arrival we showed our confirmation email print out, and indeed we had a table booked for two at 13:00, (we arrived slightly before as we didn't want to be late for the show!) and were seated straight away to our table for two. It couldn't have been any simpler! **********Location********** It is...
