ELEKTRA - fying?

Advantages: Worthwhile watching. Only 80 minutes of actual film.
Disadvantages: Supernatural Element.

... Elektra Director: Rob Bowman Release Date: 2005 Runtime: 97 mins Approx Certificate: 12. The Plot. After her 'death' in Daredevi, Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner), is revived by a blind man called Stick. She spends a while training with them, but is kicked out of the dojo, due to a reason unknown to her. She becomes a proffesional assassin and kills people for money. And is sent away on business to kill some, at the time unkown, targets. She goes to enter the place she is staying, and sees some shadows moving about. Who she finds is a girl called Amy (Kirsten Prout) who is her new neighbour. After a lecture about breaking into people homes, Elektra meets the girls father, Mark Miller (Goran Visnjic) and is invited by the daughter to go to their house for Christmas dinner. When the identity of her...

Elktra-fried

Advantages: Erm
Disadvantages: Boring, Slow, Not much happens

...Nobody really wants a sequel to a mediocre film. By the same token nobody wants a spin off from a mediocre film. But this is what we have with Elektra; apparently some people liked the character in the Daredevil movie despite being nothing special. So now Jennifer Garner brings her Alias combat skills to the big screen by returning to the role of Elektra. Having been resurrected Elektra is trained by a blind tutor called Stick to be more badass than before. When Elektra takes on an assassination job she finds herself targeting a young girl and her father. They are wanted by a mysterious group known as 'The Hand' because the girl has some powers or something. This all leads to a bit of kung fu action where people have clearly been watching too many Asian films. The thing with Elektra is that it's incredibly weak on the story front...

Lover, Assasain, Enigma

Advantages: Jennifer garner, Fight Scenes, Outfits, Baddies, Great Script, Not Your Usual Action Flick, Good DVD Package
Disadvantages: Not Enough Action, To Keep Very Very Easily Bored People Happy

...Elektrafying Ever since I first watched Daredevil, I was really impressed with both the character of Elektra and Jennifer Garner playing her. The whole movie was screaming out for an Elektra spin off, but when she was killed off at the end, the future looked bleak, but alas, here our heroine is again! After the events of Daredevil, Elektra's lifeless body was collected by Stick, a master in the ancient arts. After a lot of work, incantations and magic, our heroine is brought back to life. Life will never be the same for her or anyone she knows?. A couple of years later, she is an assassin, killing for money. We have already seen her slaying a target. She boasts an impressive array of powers, leaping, kicking, stabbing and running her way through out the whole exercise. While clearing away the evidence of her massacre, McCabe her...

You Really Kill People For A Living?

Advantages: It's only an hour and a half long. Special Effects and fight scenes. Jennifer Garner in the Elektra outfit
Disadvantages: The Script was simply awful. The acting was well below par, Could have maybe used a big name baddie

...daughter, she falls for him and decides to help them rather than kill them. The Hand still wants him dead and as Elektra has failed to complete the job they send someone else to do it for them. So now Elektra must protect him and his daughter and prevent the hand from getting to them and killing them. So they go on the run and Elektra turns to her old mentor for help, but will he help her? Can she stop The Hand? Well you will have to watch it and find out. I'll admit that I didn't go into this film with high expectations. Off the back of Daredevil I suspected I'd find this to be just as bad as Daredevil. In fact I was very wrong it was even worse. It seems to fit into the comic book to Hollywood role call of awful films and somewhere around the bottom rung. There are elements taken from the more successful elements of Blade and X Men...

Less than Electrifying

Advantages: Some nice effects and a couple of decent fights
Disadvantages: The shoddy script and sub-par performances

...Having been left for dead at the end of ?Daredevil?, Elektra is resurrected and taught the way of the Kimaguri by mentor Stick. But unable to stick to the rules, she is dismissed from his school and goes to work as a freelance assassin. The problems begin when she is sent to kill a father and daughter, only to fall for her mark? Director Rob Bowman returns after the commercial disappointment of ?Reign of Fire? with this spin-off of the Marvel franchise. Unfortunately, he has learnt little from the shortcomings of his last movie and is destined to repeat the same mistakes; namely too many characters, not enough characterisation and too many plot holes. I was expecting good things from this film; Elektra was the most interesting character in ?Daredevil? and Jennifer Garner has proved engaging in ?Alias? and ?13 Going on 30...

The art of Italian Espresso

Advantages: Easy to use and maintain. Create delicious coffee and size is very convenient.
Disadvantages: Only make frothed milk for about 2-3 coffees

...I have been given this coffee maker for Christmas and I was delightfuly surprised by its look and functionality. The machine looks fabulous and very stylish as it is black and silver with curvy edges which gives it a smooth feel when you work with it. I love the feel of silver and black material which is also easily cleaned and maintained in general. I have never owed a coffee machine before but I am sure I will stick with this one. You can make real Italian espresso and cappuccinos at home without spending fortune on coffees in coffee houses. Coffee machine comes with clear instructions and you are able to make coffee in just 3 steps. I have worked in coffee house before so I always knew it takes some time to make coffee (water doesnt heat in a few seconds, does it?). You simply feel the water container, let it boil, add ground...

More Shocking than Elektrafying

Advantages: Good costumes
Disadvantages: Ham acting

...From the moment I knew Elektra was coming to the big screen, I eagerly awaited it's arrival. From the outset it was clear to see I was going to be disappointed. Jennifer Garner (from tv's "alias") plays the indomitable Elektra, a highly trained fighter and assassin who, after being extradicted from her training camp and sensai, begins to get a grip of herself and life on the outside world. Elektra is hired to kill a man and his daughter - the details are highly classified, but this doesnt bother Elektra. Her reputation precedes her as a fighter and assassin, her calling card sometimes no more than a whisper in her victim's ear. Her choice of weapon are sai, an ancient chinese blade forged from a single piece of metal and incorporating a long central blade and 2 smaller supplementary blades that protrude from the base...

Espresso in an instant

Advantages: makes espresso, steamer, easy to use, safe, looks good, cheaper than most other similar models
Disadvantages: has a cappuncino milk frother but no thermometer

...I have always wanted my very own Espresso machine and after being a good boy all year Santa brought me one for Christmas after my wife informed him that I really wanted one. My wife may have told him I wanted one, but I did end up paying £129 for the pleasure of ensuring Santa left it in my stocking. Fed up to the back teeth with plain old filter coffee, or god forbid, instant freeze dried filth actually having the Cubika now sitting in my kitchen is nothing short of a godsend first thing in the morning and is officially the boys toy that my friends and I spent most of Chjristmas day playing with and frankly it is so user friendly, we had steaming hot espresso flowing freely within 30 minutes of removing it from the box. There are no fiddly parts that require construction so it is just a case of removing it from the box, placing...

Review of Gaggia Cubika

Great budget performer

Advantages: Cheap, good pump pressure, easy as pie to use.
Disadvantages: Recent units use aluminium -can corrode

...We drink a hell of a lot of coffee here and this is the culprit! It is cheap, its pretty well made and is a great introduction to a good espresso (or cappucino, frothy hot choc etc) The unit design has not changed much since they were released but some are now shipped with an aluminium coffee ground holder. This isn't a big problem but it wont last forever as the old bronze and chrome ones will. The pressure is good enough to pour a great espresso with good crema provided you get the grind fine enough. This is pretty much the same as many of the 'better' models- including an aluminium boiler- so descale as little as possible! The unit is fast to heat up, the pump pressure is good but it does have only one boiler- so multiple cappucinos can be slow- you need to let the unit heat up and cool down between milk foaming and drawing...

Review of Gaggia Espresso

Short dark delight

Advantages: Instant, no messy machines
Disadvantages: Not to be drunk near bed time

...I stumbled upon this product purely by accident while looking for espresso coffee beans or ground to make a delicious drink that I had on an evening partaking of food and drink at an Italian restaurant in a local hotel. I am not a coffee connoisseur, in fact I hardly ever have anymore than 2 cups a day. I do however love my alcoholic coffee fixes and usually tend to stick to Irish or Gaelic Coffee, not so anymore, reason will evolve later. Unsure as to which category to do this review in I decided to do some research on the three main ingredients which make up the drink. I only got as far as researching the coffee angle and thought this could be interesting as I found out a lot of information and facts that I never knew, the first being the origins of coffee itself. Well they don't really know where it originated from but can...
