Lovely estate agents

Advantages: Sold my house at asking price
Disadvantages: I don't receive service like that everyday

...Moving house is said to be one of the three most stressful things you can do,(besides bereavement and divorce). The last thing you want or need from your estate agents then is bad service, incompetence or inability to do the job. Fortunately for me, I got none of these. The estate agents we chose to sell our flat a few months ago I could not praise highly enough. Review of Connell Estate Agents

The Station Agent

Advantages: excellent writing, acting, direction...
Disadvantages: none.

...The Station Agent is an extraordinary film for a number of reasons. The first is that it is stunningly simple in story and script and yet intriguingly complex in theme and emotional resonance. The second is that it has a strong social conscience without a hint of condescension. The third is that it is funny, touching, sweet, lyrical and beautifully paced, which is sadly not something we see every day. Romans Estate Agents

Advantages: Agent covering a large local area
Disadvantages: Long contract, poor communication, dodgy pricing policy.

Ok, so I was a bit naive, but hopefully this review will be of assistance to anyone thinking of putting their house on the market wherever you live. 1/ The valuations. I had three independant valuations with a spread of £20,000 from highest to lowest. I went for the highest, human nature? I took into consideration how many offices each agent had and how large an area they covered. The problem: 10 days after I had signed the contract the office manager came to see me and said that in his opinion our house was on the market at too high a price. A NICE Estate Agent

Advantages: Lots of local branches, friendly and helpful service
Disadvantages: Specialise at the bottom end of the market and website is not too good

Disadvantages: customer service, does not communicate with each other

..., I made a complaint to their head office over lack of service, I then get a call from a female member of staff "saying I have put a request into head office to view the property", joke number 1. I quickly explained to her that I owned the property and had just made a complaint. She sheepishly put me onto her senior, I spoke to Rob in the office who gave me the typical estate agent spiel, and kept calling me "buddy" - I don't know him, this annoyed me. It was agreed for me to end the contract due to lack of interest. On the day I passed the keys to another estate agent, I call Rob who tells me "that they have an offer just come in and the person is on the phone as we speak". I was very cynical, thought it was a tactic to keep me with them. I advised him to tell the person I want asking price only as had already dropped the price...

Advantages: Not Many
Disadvantages: Not customer friendly, rubbish can go on and on

...A while ago we decided to sell our house cause i found out i was pregnant and we needed somewhere bigger, so i got out the yellow pages and rang around a few estate agents to give me a valuation. I rang Edward Mellor and the branch manager came round for the initial visit and she was quite pleasant, she looked around a bit and said that they would charge £1000 instead of 1% like all the others so we decided to put it on with them. We decided to put it on, on a Monday so they said someone would be round to take pictures on the Tuesday at 10am. Tuesday came and so did 10am then 11 and 12 they eventually turned up at 4.30pm and took the pictures, i should have knew then that they were trouble but went ahead and they said it would be on the internet that night she would go back to the office and upload them that night. Advantages: Good at what they do - let my properties. Great online services & polite + helpful.
Disadvantages: None to speak of.

This time I used Ludlow Thompson and found them to be the most professional and up to date re online facilities. They have let my properties within a day to a few days for good rents. I was really impressed that they always updated me by phone and email. The website was really helpful in that I could see progress updated and exactly how many people had clicked on my property details - how cool is that! I like the fact that the website stores all my documents under my own online account - really handy as I have x3 lettings with them.
