...I completely agree with the previous review, and there's nothing much to say for this item. It sucks!! I wasted my company money and their confidence on me with this little piece of crap. So, how did I end buying this? On a Tom's Hardware review I saw this item, which has the ability of being an ethernet disk and an USB disk at the same time, which at the moment, was an innovation. With such a configuration the disk can be accesible to ethernet users even at [theoric] gigabit speeds and at the same time being accessed by a local user through USB connection. Was easy to connect to and set up a connection with other pc's, laptop's, etc. Great for gamers or business' that require wired link up between machines, servers or both. Felt like the data transfer was instant, so was perfect for backing up data from one machine onto another Driver's are very easy to get hold of, just download them straight from the manufacturers website. Which also has very good support, if any problems should arise. Very fast if needing updating due to new driver releases. I would highly recommend this ethenet adapter to anyone. ...was not lit, so although I had a broadband connection something was going wrong somewhere along the line. The netgear also has a diagnostics page which you can access on your pc and from that I saw that the speed was very slow and there was a lot of noise on the line. So this was evidence for vodafone to give BT engineers who came and found my phone line was broken at the telegraph pole. One new phone line later and everything is well. The modem is white and comes with a stand so it actually stands on end and takes up very little space. It needs to be plugged into the electric and connects with via ethernet....

Review of Netgear DM111P ADSL2+ Ethernet Modem

Very very good

Advantages: No dongles to loose or break, quality, speed
Disadvantages: Takes up both PCMCIA slots

...got mine second hand and it came without a driver CD, but Windows XP detected it perfectly - its even automatically detected and configured as an ethernet adapter under Linux (Red hat 8) which is another bonus. There are drivers available from their website though if you want to get them and some of the associated utility applications, manuals etc. There are quite a lot of these available on the second hand market now going for around £20-30, which I think is a bargain as they were generally sold for about 3 or 4 times that much when new. My second hand one is like new - many of these cards stay in the computer for their entire lives so they dont get damaged easily. I've been using mine for about 9 months now (not to mention how long it was used before I got it) without a problem. I emphatically recomend this card to anyone looking...

...there's no software to install anywhere, it's just a case of connecting it up with standard "straight-through" ethernet cables and you're away ! LED lights on the front signal Power, Activity & Error, and status of each of the 4 ports. Click the "Product Information" tab for more details, and the "Compare Prices" tab for prices and availability.. Overall, it's a useful item if you need more network connections, and "does exactly what it says on the tin", but if I were you, I'd go straight to a 100BASE-TX hub. I hope this helps......
