....These are as follows... 1) Hub phone light 2) Wireless connection 3) Broadband connection 4) Internet connection 5) Ethernet connection Ok,none to shabby i thought.The phone had a few decent tones on it and was easy to use,so far so good. As i had taken this hub on with its up to 8mb download speed,i say 8mb with a large frown and set it all up,what with its adsl filter and its warnings to keep it ventilated and away from mirrors and monitors i was eventually ready to go. Within an hour of setting up and being connected i was told by BT that my broadband speed would be based on how far i was from the server and it would then be set after two weeks to a maximum level.I thought i would do a speed test on a site i was recommended so put in the url and low and behold i had no connection.A little box popped up...

3Com OfficeConnect TP4 4 Port Ethernet Hub

Advantages: Ebay bargain !
Disadvantages: Only 10 mbps, Only 4 ports

...there's no software to install anywhere, it's just a case of connecting it up with standard "straight-through" ethernet cables and you're away ! LED lights on the front signal Power, Activity & Error, and status of each of the 4 ports. Click the "Product Information" tab for more details, and the "Compare Prices" tab for prices and availability.. Overall, it's a useful item if you need more network connections, and "does exactly what it says on the tin", but if I were you, I'd go straight to a 100BASE-TX hub. I hope this helps......

The BT Home Hub

Advantages: Its free with some packages.
Disadvantages: It is abysmal.

...This is one of the worst products I have ever had the misfortune to use. When it first arrived, it was immediately evident that it would be annoying, there are 5 constantly on and flashing lights that are too bright, and also no useful lights to show network activity as would be present on a normal router. The interface of the router (http://192.168.1.254) is atrocious. Its poorly laid out, is not at all simple to use and can be very, very slow. Another problem is the regular development of errors with the Hub. It will seemingly at random disconnect wireless devices, disable one or both of the network ports, block some programs but not others, or just stop working completely. Of course, the only action to take when a router stops working is to restart - but is there a restart button? No. You have to manually go to the device...

BT Home Hub

Advantages: reliable service
Disadvantages: None

...I have found this product to be far superior than the first hub I had - I have never had any problems with the hub and service wise it is completely reliable. It was very easy to set up with an easy and fast guide to set up the hub and connect to the computer - the speed is excellent and connects great with the Belkin Wireless Pre - N products. It is very easy to update - the lights on the are very easy to understand and you know if your line is not connected properly. I haven't had to call BT because of service interruptions and would not have any qualms in recommending this product to anyone. I believe reliability is the key and I am willing to pay a bit more via a BT package to gain the good service....

...If you need to increase the number of USB ports on your system then I can highly reccomend the Belkin External USB Hub F5U021. Just plug it in and away you go and at just £24.99 from PCWorld it is very good value for money. It comes complete with everything you need to be up and running in under 1 minute. It has provided me with the solution as to how to plug 4 USB devices into 2 ports. It now runs my 2 printers, webcamera and scanner through one port without any problems of any sort. This small box of electronics plugs directly into an existing USB port and can then run upto 4 seperate USB devices via its own 4 USB ports situated at the rear. Advantages: Looks good, comes with a good deal from BT [broadband option 3].
Disadvantages: Poor wireless signal, not compatible with printers.

...The BT Home-Hub v2.0 may look chic and stylish in comparison to previous models, but personally I have not noticed any beneficial differences between the v2.0 and the v1.0. Despite numerous claims that the wireless signal is 'twice as strong as other wireless providers', I have no reason whatsoever to endorse this. In my medium sized flat, I only receive good, stable signal in the rooms adjacent to the Hub, and in other rooms the signal repeatedly disappears completely. One of the Hub's main selling points is the many various connections which it boasts, including 4 ethernet connections and a USB socket. ...I got the home hub when I moved house and wanted the internet. I was excited by the promise that it was a router, modem and telephone all in one and that it could sit on the side a work away nicely. It also looked quite nice so i had no problem having it on display. The adverts on TV made it out to be one of the best things since sliced bread and unfortunately for them they were way of the mark This is possibly one of the worst pieces of equipment that I have ever owned. It worked fine when I had it hooked up with the Ethernet cable but as my computer is tucked away in an office didn't help with the phone. The wireless didn't work and I phoned BT and there technical support was abysmal. Black Home Hub and Phone

Advantages: ADSL Modem + Wireless Router and Broadband phone all in 1, looks the business too!
Disadvantages: Expensive if bought outright (ie. not as part of a broadband package)

...I opted to go with BT for my telephone and broadband service and as part of my broadband package I received a black Home Hub and Phone. The black finish is very attractive allowing it to be on display rather than hidden away. It came with instructions to set it up which were very helpful, I had mine set up in no time at all! The unit has all the indicators you'd expect to find on a normal ADSL modem and they are very straight-forward to read. The Hub has wireless and wired networking capabilities and can also be connected to a computer via USB 2.0. The hub phone is actually a broadband phone (something I did not know when I ordered the package), BT will provide you with the telephone number for it if it is purchased as part of a broadband package. Home Hub - The Future of Surfing

Advantages: Stylish, Fast, Modern

...I have been using the Internet now for a good few years and was quite excited at hearing of the New BT Home hub with it's integrated security and online storage. I ordered the package with the best option (8MB) partly due to me being on the internet whenever I am not working and partly because I always assume the more expensive, the better, the Hub came free with this option.
