Wonderful wireless bridge
Review of Buffalo AirStation Turbo G High Power WLI-TX4-G54HP - bridge by
ncdave4life
Advantages: best way to get a wired ethernet port at the other end of a wireless connection
Disadvantages: none
...This is a fabulous product! It is absolutely the BEST way to get wired ethernet at other end of a wireless connection.
his is a wireless bridge. It is like hanging a 6-port switch off one of the wired ethernet ports on your wired+wireless router, in that it gives you four more ethernet ports. However, it connects to your router wirelessly, so you can put it anywhere, and it doesn't use up any of the existing wired ethernet ports. With this device, you can have four more ethernet ports, equivalent to the ones that are on your wireless router, but but they can be anywhere in your home or office, because they are connected to the router wirelessly.
If you need a wireless connection to a device or computer that cannot use a dedicated wireless adapter, then a wireless bridge, like this, is the only way to do it.
I also have a Linksys WET...

Wired Vs. Wireless
Review of Microsoft Official Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adaptor - Live (Wireless Bridge) by
S4MMY_74
Advantages: Small, easy installation.
Disadvantages: Slow for some gamers.
...The Network Adaptor is use to play XBOX 360 online (XBOX LIVE). This is very handy if the ethernet cable provided is not long enough to reach you router, which is my case. However there are downsides, if there are many active computers the connection will be weak which is prestigious if you are playing games such as 'Call Of Duty 4' , 'GTA IV'. If this is rarely the case i advise you to buy the router. Cost is a downside aswell, for £40 less you can buy an extended router which is what I have done and become more satisfied with the ethernet than the wireless. Access is simple and easy, just plug into the back of the console and WHOOM, your playing people all across the globe! Overall I am slightly dissapointed of this product as I thought there would be a better faster connection than the wired but i have been disputed....

Extending your wireless network
Review of Devolo MicroLink dLAN Highspeed Ethernet - bridge by
Sicaroo
Advantages: Much better than other forms of wireless networking, and so easy to set up
Disadvantages: This is an extension plug, you need the starter kit first!
...Before starting this review, let me make it quite clear. This is an extention plug for the Devolo Microlink Highspeed Ethernet Starter Kit, which only provides access to and from one ethernet socket. Thus in order to use it, you already need at least one of these plugs, or maybe two, which are provided at better value for money in the starter kit.
If you have already purchased the Devolo Microlink highspeed Stater Kit; you'll know what it's all about. Replace complicated wireless systems with this device, which transfers data just like an ethernet cable, using the circuitry built into houses as a network of cables. The design of the plug is the same as the two Highspeed plugs you should already have.
What this plug allows you to do is to create another connection to the two way network that originally comes with the starter kit. You...

Simple, easy and non technical
Review of Devolo MicroLink dLAN Starter Kit Ethernet/Ethernet - bridge by
simcox1
Advantages: Very easy to use
Disadvantages: None really
...device is cost. I paid around £85 for the starter kit to connect two pc's. (nickknows.com or ebuyer.com). This is similar for a wireless modem/router. However the distance between our pc's is fairly large and there are several walls/floors inbeween. I was unsure wether a wireless connection would work, they can be hit and miss, and a long wire was impracticle. I therefore chose this 'power over ethernet' device and have found that it works very well. The connection is constant, the speed is very good, and I'm very pleased with it.
On the technical side, devolo is compatible with windows 98, 2000, ME and XP. Mac OS and Linux. Transfer rate is up to 14mb p/s (much faster than most current broadband speeds). You can also use this for online gaming via an xbox or playstation.
Overall I would say if you are looking to share your internet between...

Look...no strings!!!
Review of Microsoft Official Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adaptor - Live (Wireless Bridge) by
rayns2006
Advantages: No wires! simple to use,
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
...The Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless bridge is a simple adapter that allows you to access the internet from your Xbox without having to trail wires to your Router.
Firstly the advantages are obvious as i had Ethernet cable running through three rooms to get to my router and it took an age to hide them tidily under the carpet. i decided to get this when i moved the Router to a different place and didn't want to go through all the hassle of rewiring.
To set it up is easy all it takes is plugging it into the rear usb port on your 360 and entering your network key. Please note that although this is an excellent idea if you have a child with a 360, as you will be able to put it in their room and let them play away without the hassle of wires running to your router, but you will need to get a wireless router if you haven't already got one...

Enter the world of wireless gaming!
Review of Microsoft Official Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adaptor - Live (Wireless Bridge) by
beatlebill
Advantages: No unsightly cables
Disadvantages: overpriced
...I bought this when I changed to BT Broadband and had to put the hub in another room. I didn't want to have to trail an ethernet cable through the living room and the hall so this seemed the best idea.
Having used wireless networks at work I was a little apprehensive about the quality of the connection because XBox Live relies on a solid and uninterrupted service. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the connection and have not had any problems playing on Live.
Once it's out the packaging (ridiculous packaging like all XBox stuff, could taker your eye out with the sharp, heavy duty plastic!!) it's simple to fit. Simply click it in to the gaps provided above the ethernet port on the back and plug it in to the usb port below and you're ready to go. On the main screen, go to the 'System' tab and configure it to join your...

When wireless networking gets too much...
Review of Devolo MicroLink dLAN Highspeed Starter Kit - bridge by
Sicaroo
Advantages: No wireless connection fuss, just plugs in from straight out of the box
Disadvantages: Doesn't work through surge proof devices, infrequently cuts out
...If you want a wireless network in your house, but like me don't know much difference between 802.11g and WiFi, or between hubs and bridges, then this Devolo ethernet plug should do wonders. It has me connected to the internet right now, and it works just the same as using a really long ethernet cable.
The idea behind the device is that it uses the electric circuit in the home to act as a large ethernet cable, where every plug socket acts as a potential ethernet connection. Thus with two Devolo plugs running, you have a fuss free wireless connection. I have no idea how the technology actually works, I assume it's got something to do with sending pulses through the current, however rest assured it doesn't affect any other electrical devices when running.
Straight out of the box, just attach the ethernet cable from the PC...

Disadvantages: Cant think of one
...access point, as a point-to-point bridge with another access point, as a point-to-multi-point wireless bridge, as a wireless client, or as a wireless repeater. It also includes an embedded DHCP server that once enabled will automatically assign IP addresses to wireless clients and LAN clients, so it is considered a DHCP client which eliminates the need for a separate DHCP server on the network. This unique feature is ideal for quickly creating a wireless local area network whether in offices or other workplaces or a temporary network at trade shows or other events.

A great solution for fewer wires!
Review of NETGEAR Wall-Plugged Ethernet Bridge XE102 - bridge by
piloteer81
Advantages: Works like a charm
Disadvantages: Slow to connect, pricey.
...We got a wireless network going in our house a few years ago. However due to it being an unconventional house with flat roofs, wireless signals from one end of the house to the other were never very good and disconnects were a nightmare.
I had been considering a wireless repeater but there wasn't really anywhere to place it - the bedroom with the poor signal had nothing but outside next to it and a bathroom beneath it with the router in the next room on the lower level.
Left with no alternative I decided to give a mains based network a try having seen a review of it earlier this year. An initial look at the prices put me off immediately - needing two adapters (one to connect the router to the mains, another to connect the mains socket to the PC at the other end of the house, it was going to cost over £100 - a little excessive just...

Easy to install and use
Review of D-Link Super G with MIMO Wireless Router DI-634M - wireless router by
fynci.mynci
Advantages: Constant connection and completely wireless
Disadvantages: None found yet
...I'll try to keep this simple without too much technical jargon.
I was able to connect this unit directly to my cable modem and connect 2 PC's to the internet. There is also the possibilty that I can connect my Xbox to this unit with an ethernet cable.
I play a lot of online games and have not experienced any disruption in the signal. This is due to MIMO, which sends 2 signals instead of one.
To take advantage of MIMO you must have MIMO compatible wireless ethernet cards in your PC(s)/Laptop these cost a bit more but are worth the extra expense. The corresponding D-Link cards are DWL-G520M. You will need one wireless ethernet card per PC/laptop you are connecting
Installation of the router is simple, although if you are not aux fait with computers get some assistance with installing the ethernet cards....
