And at the end of the road: Nouadhibou, a town in the West African country Mauritania, bordered by the ocean on one side and the Sahara Desert on the other. A bleak and inhospitable departure point for the tens of thousands of people that pour in from neighboring countries, all with only one dream in mind: Europe. Hotel Sahara is a film journey to the last invisible border separating the West-African coast and Europe. The bleak city on the Atlantic Coast is a metaphor, a point of arrival and of departure, a gathering place of broken dreams - a place of waiting for that better life on the far side of the Atlantic. It is above all a no-man's land, a place of endless waiting and endless hoping. The film reveals how difficult it is to differentiate between "true" and "false" refugees. Is one "real" only when threatened life and limb? What if one simply desires to escape a deadening lack of perspective? With an observant and cautious eye, Hotel Sahara documents how closely the dream of a better life is linked to sudden stagnancy, and how much patience is required to wait for years to finally, perhaps, arrive somewhere. ...Hotel Sahara ( Xenodoheio Sahara )
Advantages: Close to some good shops, a good metro station and not far from the Eiffel Tower. Disadvantages: Tiny room, paper thin walls (and I MEAN paper thin) and quite tired rooms.
...* hotel as it was in a good location and it looked nice enough on the pictures, it wasn't badly priced too compared to similar hotels in Paris.
The Hotel's Location
Europe Hotel is in an ideal location on a busy street. It's situated only a 10-15 minute walk away from the Effiel Tower, which was amusing on our first day as we stood with a map wondering where the busy street we were standing in...
Advantages: Very welcoming, clean, lovely view Disadvantages: no bath in our room.
...When it was beautiful weather last summer a friend of mine asked if I would like a night away with her as a treat. This really was a lovely one off and we decided it would be lovely to go to the seaside. We opted for Llandudno as we have both travelled here a few times and have happy memories. We also thought that there would be plenty of sights for us to see. We chose this hotel after reading...
Advantages: Clean, basic, reasonably priced, well-situated Disadvantages: Could be better decor in rooms, buffet a bit hit and miss
...When our coach pulled up outside the back of Hotel Ternopil, I saw a large impersonal hotel, which looked like it had no charm or individuality, a throwback from the Soviet era. My first impressions were not entirely inaccurate, but the hotel is well situated, by Lake Ternopil, and has had a good re-vamp.
Whilst the outside of the hotel, which is in good condition, does look unappealing...
