...Everest Windows We had a bay window fitted in 2006 by Everest with a sash opening. The fitters took an afternoon to do the job.Shortly afterwards we noticed the window would not open.Some weeks later another team arrived an attempted a repair.This was to prove the start of a very long running saga. Our decorator noticed light coming throung under the sill,and was scathing about the workmanship. It was to be almost 12 months before the window was finally made 'good'. We had a succession of fitters coming to alter and add parts etc.One of the fitters commented that the original fitters had used the wrong technique to insert the sash window.Also they had not advised us to take off the radiator before fitting the window,but carried on with the job anyway. The Clear winner. Everest windows.

Advantages: heat retention, excellent products, workmen are tidy, long lasting products
Disadvantages: a little expensive

...Everest Windows- say this to some people and they get animated- they say how expensive they are, how pushy their salesmen are and how they would never use them. Some people even mention Ted Moult! (do you remember him with his feather sitting next to a window in the highest pub in England (the Tan Hill) ?? I do! I don't like to pre-judge and when I hear people slagging companies off I have to make my own mind up...so when I decided to get double glazing, I got several quotations- the other companies were less expensive but they insisted on doing Everest down. The Everest salesman did not mention any other company at all- he just got down to measuring up, putting the details onto some graph paper and giving me a quotation. The cheaper firms lost their sales that day! I had 15 windows (and they were mostly big ones) fitted about...

Everest Kitchens. The real Nightmare from Elm Street

Advantages: Absolutely none
Disadvantages: Complete disregard for the customer, shoddy workmanship, misrepresentation of the product

...Everest Kitchens, or as in my own mind they should be called "Everstressed" have just completed a kichen nightmare for us. It has taken them 655 days and 2 kitchens to do so. They used shoddy subcontractors to install the first kitchen, not the dedicated skilled team of Everest's own personel that they promised and advertised on their slick sales pitch.. Everything that could go wrong did so, and Everest could not have cared less. The wrong doors were delivered. The wrong hob, the wrong plinths. Then new doors with all the wrong handles. The kitchen was supposed to be gloss white, but it was all different shades of white. Poor quality units, Sub contract fitters , Units that did not fit. Units that did not close. Units of shoddy construction. Electrical sockets at all different heights, illegaly positioned or completely innacesible...

Everest fitted kitchen " At its best "

Disadvantages: mis-leading advertising and promises.

...We have also fallen foul of the Everest fitted kitchen, our promised "bespoke" kitchen is summed up by all the previous negative reviews. On reading their glossy brochure your bespoke kitchen will be tailor made to fit. WRONG. From the salesperson who promises the earth, to the surveyor who got the measurements wrong, the sub-contracted fitters who were more like bodge it and fix it, and the final product being nothing like the original specification. Two wall cupboards that did not fit, so a standard intermediate size was used with a large "infil "panel, bespoke or what!. Four attempts at screeding the floor, corner cupboards attacked with a circular saw that look terrible, very poor electrics, and getacore worktop that split, but we were blamed for damaging it with a hot pan. Review of Everest Fitted Kitchen

Everest timber sliding sash windows

Advantages: A reasonable copy of the traditional timber sliding sash.
Disadvantages: very poor energy rating, and has significant variations from the traditional design

...I was led to believe my timber sliding sash windows with weights and cords would be 'B' energy rated or at least if they were not formally rated then they would perform to a standard of energy efficiency that would be equivalent to the 'B' energy rating. However, nearly 4 months after the installation Everest admitted that the windows would only perform to the equivalent of an 'E' rating, which is the bare legal minimum. Apart from the energy rating disappointment, the windows were supplied much taller than I was expecting, resulting in an unsightly mismatch between my property and my neighbors. Window sills were MDF, instead of a proper wood, and draft and noise ingress remains a problem. Although Everest say they will remedy the draft and noise, they deny any misleading sales campaign concerning the energy rating and they offer...

Review of Everest Windows

Fit and forget : Everest, certainly ot the best

Advantages: Single piece flat roof prevents leaks
Disadvantages: Poor and incompetent workmanship, non existent follow up support

...My Mother had the flat roof on the garage replaced by Everest. Whilst the roof looks good and now no longer leaks, the fitters fitted it the wrong way around. The raised edge that should have gone at the front of the roof was installed at the back, preventing rain water from getting into the gutters. She also complained about drips of glue/resin that had splashed onto the garage door. To rectify the splash marks they offered to repaint the door. Unfortunately the person who did it, obviously has never painted anything in his life and only had enough paint to do a quarter of the job so splashed the paint around to cover a s much as possible. Phone calls t complain have fallen on deaf ears and any follow up service has not been forthcoming. Avoid at all costs....

Advantages: Don't know, haven't seen the product yet
Disadvantages: Extremely slow service, appalling customer service, misleading customer service

...The Everest woman did a great sales pitch and sold us on the product. (secondary glazing for two sash windows). On siging the Agreement Contract and paying a deposit of £360, she promised us the windows would be delivered in 6-8 weeks. Three weeks later we recieved a letter from Everest Head office stating that they had started to manufacture the Everest products that we ordered. This was a patent lie. One month later we had a call from Everest saying that someone would be calling us within a week to arrange installation. One week passed and noone called. So we called them. Firstly they did not aplogise for not calling. Secondly 'they had no idea when our windows would be ready' because 'the factory had run out of windows'. Appalling. So we waited. And waited. More than 3 months later (14 weeks) and we are atill getting...

Considering an Everest Trek

Advantages: May Force you to take start at Jiri.
Disadvantages: Logistical headaches.

Just as road repairs go on at the busiest times in the UK the Nepali government has chosen the busiest season to repair the airstrip at Lukla. Lukla is the closest airstrip to Mount Everest that is available to tourists. Virtually all trekking and climbing parties fly in to Lukla before the walk north. Its busiest period is the spring trekking season from February to May. In peak periods the airstrip seas 15-20 flights per day. Tourists and the goods they consume arrive here in huge numbers during this period. The gravel airstrip is struggling to keep up with this pressure and is in need of repair. Avoid Everest Part 2

Disadvantages: Poor workmanship & lack of intrest to resolve problems.

...unit has meant that the sink has not been placed centrally to the window and now looks odd. The pipe work under sink is a mess. The original installers used as much of the old pipe work as possible so it made life easier for themselves. They even used the old sink connection to the new sink. Part of the worktop is not level. This has resulted in a uneven gap between dishwasher and other units which is unsightly and not to the expected Everest " we fit the Best". Part of the work top is not secured to base units and moves when lent on. Everest personnel do not seem to want to resolve the matter, they do not answer recorded delivered mail and I am constantly advised that staff are on annual leave. Does this installation fit in with Everest's ad of "we fit the best" I think not. I would not recommend them for kitchens....

Everest Conquered - fifty years on

...The year 2003 was a special year for Mount Everest, the world?s highest mountain. It was the 50th anniversary of the first totally successful ascent and descent. It was of course a British triumph back there in 1953, 29th May ? just a few days before the coronation of her majesty. I do remember both events but didn?t realise they were so close, time wise. (Yes I am that old, but in mitigation I was only a child at the time!) But hold on a minute ? a British Success? Well I suppose it was a British funded and organised expedition but the two mountaineers who actually made it, were Edmund Hillary a New Zealander and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay a Nepalese.
