Everglades National Park

Advantages: an absolutley superb day out, fun, fun and fun
Disadvantages: not cheap, and very long day out..

...One of the best excursions offered by Tour operators in the Orlando area is the FULL DAY excursion to the Everglades National Park which includes a ride on an airboat, a show featuring Aligators and an afternoon and early evening at Marco Island on the Gulf of Mexico before the long drive back to Orlando via St Petersburg.. This is one hect of a long day out it starts around 0600 and ends about midnight, its an absolute must for non car drivers, we hesitated the first time we went to Florida but decided to take advantage of it the following year. We stopped en route at a Macdonalds for brunch prior to arriving in the Everglades for Lunch and the Airboat ride, now at this pont it doesn't matter whether you do this excursion or another but...YA CAN'T come to Florida and not go on an airboat ride !! we had a great time and the theme...

Alligators Airboats and Mosquitos

...The Everglades are a vast area of natural swampland situated in the south west of Florida.A large part of this are has been turned into a National Park, therefore preserving its beauty for everyone. If you can imagine mile upon mile of water covered land, thickly populated with reeds and mangrove trees, awash with wildlife and brightly coloured plants, then you have an idea of what the everglades are really like. The area is disected by a main road which seems to run forever and is almost dead straight.A few feet either side of the road is thick swampland. I visited the area in August 2000, where the heat had lowered the water level in many places. Even so there was an abundant range of animals, insects and birds to see. Advantages: Great place to relax
Disadvantages: Need no more than a couple of days

Australia Zoo: Noosa is a great place to visit the Australia Zoo from as you can catch a courtesy bus to and from the park. Other activities: Noosa has a wide range of activities available, Kayaking, Surfing to bike riding, so for the more adventurous among you there are plenty of things to keep you entertained. Conclusion: Noosa is a really tranquil place to relax and unwind, the East Coast is full of commotion with so much going on so if you want to take a break this is the place to do it....

Boggy Creek Watch Out An Alligator May Eat You!

Advantages: Cheap trip, fantastic animals.
Disadvantages: nly lasts 30 minutes to an hour.

...Have you ever wanted to visit Florida's everglades? If this is the trip for you. On one of my many visits to Florida, I took the boggy creek air boat trip. This has got to be one of the best moments of my life, although I hate the thought of alligators, they frighten the life out of me. I gritted my teeth and went for it, am I am very pleased that I did. THE TRIP The Boggy Creek Airboat Ride experience is an airboat ride through Florida's everglades, boating slowly through the wetlands of the everglade swamps and taking in the surrounding scenery, and the amazing wildlife the everglades had to offer. The wildlife included alligators, bald eagles, exotic birds and turtles in their own natural habitat. If that wasn't enough the boat driver then opened up to boat, so you seemed to be zipping over the water at extreme speed...

High Dive

Advantages: Quirky, funny with good characters
Disadvantages: a bit too explaination of the political workings

Carl Hiaasen is an activist but not one who is well known, as unlike Michael Moore, Al Franklin (who are funny in their own right) or Ben Elton (who I find praises his own self knowledge a bit too much). Carl Hiaasen is more subtle, anyone who is a fan of his work will already know of his scathing disgust of the political machine and how his nations greed and power hungry members have now almost destroyed the Florida Everglades. So once again Carl Hiaasen uses the Everglades in his novel, but this time they are more than just a backdrop, as then main story revolves around Chaz Perrone own disinterest in the 'glades, using them solely for financial gain. But although he uses the Everglades in his novels, it doesn't seem as though he is recycling characters...

Watch Out for Alligators!

...I have always had a yearning to visit the Florida Everglades and travel on an airboat. However as my family and I are Theme Park addicts we never seemed to have been able to afford the time for the long journey to the Everglades. However before our last trip I read a guidebook which said that Boggy Creek Airboats were as good an experience as the Everglades. I don't know if this is true but I can give you a review of our trip. Why The Boggy Creek Company? There are quite a lot of Airboat companies operating around the Orlando area. I did some research before we travelled and I found the best recommendations, especially for safety, were for the Boggy Creek Company so that was where we headed. Massive Hotel - Not lots of kids

Disadvantages: Not really a family hotel

...We stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon in August... so would have expected there to have been lots of children as it is situated on International Drive: *12 minutes from Orlando International Airport * 5 minutes to SeaWorld Adventure Park and Universal Orlando Resort * 10 minutes to Walt Disney World® Resort * 15 minutes from Orlando Downtown =Rooms= Our room was very large & clean with all of the amenaties that you would expect. Unfortunately the aircon was really noisy!!! =Getting about= There is an iride trolley stop right outside the hotel which will take you to seaworld & up and down international drive! If you speak with the concierge they will point you in the correct direction to book free shuttles to other theme parks! = Hotel Restaurants= We had a meal one night in the a la carte Everglades...

Never smile at an alligator

Advantages: wild animals, whole day, lunch included

...The Florida Everglades are a national park in which you can take a tour day-trip. The mini-bus picked us up from our hotel early morning and we set off into the wilderness. Before long we were told to look out the window for alligators - and we saw several. It was incredible how we could be in a beach resort (Marco Island on the East coast of Florida) in the morning and before long be in somewhere so wild and unpredictable. We took a river boat trip and spotted several alligators. The highlight, however, came when our boat was followed by a pair of wild dolphins, jumping in and out of the water in chase. It was so lovely to watch these animals in their natural surroundings and to watch them perform under their own initiative. Much better than any aquariam park. Our lunch consisted of alligator, frogs' legs, ostrich and other...
