The Works- something for every day

Advantages: variety of poems, price of book, suitability for children

...The Works, as it says on the cover, is a book of poetry that has a poem of every type, variety and on every topic. It really does have every poem you could need for the Literacy hour. The Works is published by Macmillan, and the poems are chosen by Paul Cookson. It is the first in a series of books (6 the last time I checked). It includes poetry such as haiku, riddles, tongue twisters, acrostics, monologues, songs, nonsense poems, narrative verse, performance poems and more. I havent counted the total number of poems, as there are often more than one per page, and a total of 525 pages. The book cost me £6.99 and I use it regularly with my class. When it is not being used for Literacy lessons, I use it to dip in and out of as the children love the riddles and find some of the funny poems really good to discuss with each other...

If only every day could be a green day!

...for some time afterwards. The bathroom was filled with the luxurious scent of the bubble bar, and I was glad to see that the green colouring had not stained my bath at all. This bar costs £2.75 and weighs 100g, if you don't have a Lush store near to you, you can order online at www.lush.co.uk I would say you can only get two uses, possibly three at a push, out of this, so obviously it's not as economical as a bottle of bubble bath, but I think of them as being more a luxury product than something you would use every day. As you can probably tell already, I loved the bar and everything about it, and I can't wait to use the other half! Given my rocky start with bubble bars, I am now converted and cant wait to use the others that are sitting in the cupboard. .... I don't find the taste appealing but it does leave my breath fresh. When the Listerine is swilling around my mouth it makes my mouth feel tingly and you can feel the liquid seeping in between your teeth and washing around your gums, you need to swill the Listerine around inside of your mouth vigorously to make sure that it reaches all of the nooks and crannies. When I have finished my routine of cleaning my teeth and then using the Listerine my mouth feels fresh and that in turn gives me more confidence wearing my bottom denture. When you have just used the Listerine mouthwash your breath is overwhelmingly antiseptic but that strong smell and taste soon settles down and is replaced with a mild and acceptable smell and taste.
