The King of Exercise Bikes?

Advantages: Excellent range of functions, comfortable, easy to use
Disadvantages: I think its a touch expensive at £200

...Now I do tend to get a little annoyed when it comes to exercise equipment and how expensive it is for home use. Unfortunately the York C201 fits into that bracket, needlessly expensive to achieve the same results as much cheaper bikes. Here is the reason for my annoyance: PHYSIOLOGY Cycling is specifically designed to work out the lower half of the body. In particular the focus is on the quadricep muscles (Thigh's), the hamstrings, the calf muscles and the gluteals (your bottom) Cycling is also one of the best forms of a cardiovascular endurance exercises (heart and lungs), whilst still being a low impact exercise (I.e your joints are not getting effected with high impacts like running). Basic bike- don't fall for the frilly edges

My initial advice regarding this product is this: If you see it at a clearance warehouse retailing at around £20, and you really want an exercise bike and don't have the free cash to get anything more flash: get it. A decent in-front-of-the-telly magnetic exercise bike

Advantages: Low cost magnetic resistance bike, pretty sturdy for the price
Disadvantages: Seating position not necessarily the most comfortably, not great for shorter people!

Specifically, its resistance strap wore through and the ride became more like freewheeling down a hill than anything more energetic. GT Aggressor XC2. What a Bike for the Money

Advantages: Strong Frame and Wheels, Tyres do not let go

...Bought this bike with my work cycle to work scheme. A great buy from Halfords. Excellent speck for the price and a very strong bike. I'm 18st 10 (253 ibs) and in my opinion this bike can handle this weight easily. Great colour Black with like a Pearlesent White, Very good speck components, Shimano Deore derauillers and Sram Truvatic Crank. Hydrolic Brakes and Discs. These will stop you instantly and do tare a little time to get used to or a flight over the bars could come along. These sqeak when covered in Muck and Water for the first few occasions, but when used this disapates. Wheels are Alex DP17 rims, Strong, Maxxis Ingnitor Tyres Grip like hell. Suntour XCR forks are ok for Cross Country riding, Not a great Jump fork, but hey Im no Jumper! (I think that if yoiu are lighter than me you could have some safe landings with these...

Burn Baby Burn

...I am a very keen runner and have been back in training for just over a year now after having a few years off. As part of my quest to get back to the standard I used to be, I incorporate a few sessions a week on my exercise bike, this helps build speed endurance and strength in general. The exercise bike in question is the Body Sculpture BC1510 and I got it as new and hardly used from a friend for £15. I have had a look around though and it retails from £40-£60 which is around the right price I feel for this kind of product. Now its quite a simple exercise bike, which to me is a positive as all I want it for is for a few training sessions a week and to know the distance I have covered and how long it took me. I know there are alot of other exercise bikes around that will have more gadgets and stats on than this exercise bike...

Mothercare's 'Walkaround Exerciser'

Advantages: You know where they are at all times!
Disadvantages: Some babies may not like it.

We were looking for a 'baby walker' really, but chose this one because it was more like an activity table, and would probably last her a lot longer. A Wheelie bad idea!!!!!! Golds Gym Exercise wheel

Disadvantages: You could quite easily end up in traction!!!!! Awful, disasterous etc etc

...Now this piece of kit is right up there with the most pointless, cheap, nasty and in my opinion dangerous pieces of equipment on the market. I almost laughed out loud when I first came across this and perhaps offers proof that some people will buy THE most pointless pieces of equipment known to man in the pursuit of physical perfection. My first thought was not that it was a piece of exercise equipment but rather a toy emulating the ?Wheelies? from Return to OZ. I was wrong WHAT IS IT? You can?t really dress this piece of equipment up, it?s a plastic rod which has been put through a wheel. That?s it. You hold each side of the wheel and roll backwards and forwards and this action apparently works out the abdominal muscles. Essentially you become a wheelbarrow. Apologies for the crude analogy but that really is all there is too...

On Yer Bike!

Advantages: Great fun, slow, Harry loves it
Disadvantages: Noisy, siren is a pain

...Now, Harry isn't what I would call a daredevil. In fact, he's not into anything that moves too fast or does things that he doesn't expect to happen, pretty much like any 2 and a half year old I expect. So as you can imagine, I wasn't overly thrilled when I found out last year that Harry's great aunt had bought him a motorised motor bike. Please bear in mind last Christmas he was only 21 months old and consequently pretty small and unconfident, but nonetheless, the Halfords Mini Racer Bike was on its way to us courtesy of my parents. It wasn't something we expected to keep for long but funnily enough, its now become Harry's favourite ever toy! The Halfords Mini Racer Bike is available from the Halfords website, and in-store but I can't really say I have ever seen one when I have been into a Halfords. My brother works for Halfords...

Review of Halfords Mini Racer Bike

The fun way to exercise!

Advantages: good variety of games, fun for various age groups
Disadvantages: expensive, some games require quite a bit of space

...not that bad! The game has four different sections- Yoga, Balance, Aerobic Exercises and Muscle Stretches. In the yoga section there are various yoga moves you can do which focus on your balance with new positions being unlocked the more you use it. After you have completed each section you are rated on how you done. The balance section (my favorite part of the game!) has lots of mini games including skiing, ski jumping and tightrope walking. You are rated after each game with your scores recorded on the leader board. Within the Aerobic section there are games which include gyrating your hips as if you are playing with a hula hoop and is surprisingly tiring as well as a game that involves you jogging on the spot while you watch your Mii run round a circuit! The final section (and my least favorite) is the muscle stretches...
