The best decision made to study at Exeter

Advantages: almost everything students look for when choosing a university
Disadvantages: limited accommodation

...motivated. People comment that Exeter is a snobbish uni but I don't quite feel that so far. All students I meet here are friendly and helpful regardless of their family background and races. You can see smiling faces easily and no wonder Exeter is always the top 5 regarding student satisfaction. There must be reasons supporting the high ranking~~ the beautiful campus, excellent facilities, high quality teachers, a pleasant town for social life... all these contribute to a high popularity of the university....

Exeter university

Advantages: pretty campus and cheap cost of living
Disadvantages: not the best nightlife for the energetic

...The university of exeter provided me with not only a great eduacation but also heaps of fun. I studied Biological Sciences in the Hatherly laboratories and in the Washington Singer laboratories. These are among the finest buildings on an impressive campus. Large open spaces and a staggering varieties of trees make for an excellent working environment. The atmosphere is friendly and the pubs first rate! If clubbing is your thing then perhaps a larger city is for you. If you simply enjoy beers with your friends then I can't stress enough what a great choice Exeter uni would be. My department scored an 'excellent' rating in the standards inspection and it led onto a DPhil course here in sunny Oxford. Go for it....

City uni with country appeal

Advantages: Nice campus, friendly feel.
Disadvantages: Accomodation is expensive compared to others

...I did a 3 year law degree at Exeter and am now about to finsh my LPC qualification. 4 years at this place has given me a fair idea of how it works. There are 2 campuses; the main one which is about 15 minutes from Exeter St Davids train station, and about 15 minutes from the city, with the bus station; and St Lukes (sports science, teacher training and medicine) which is about 10 minutes from town in the opposite direction. There is a bus service (currently the 'D' route-although the bus company do keep renaming it) which connects the two campuses and town every 15 minutes or so. The main campus contains all subjects other than those mentionned above. One thing to note is that Exeter Uni is built on a big hill. This is not really a place for those adverse to walking. Although it is not a big campus, and everything is easy to get...

Exeter Graduate 2001

Advantages: Friendly, Very Pretty Campus, Good Value
Disadvantages: Hills, Sloane-rangers

...I have recently graduated from a four year course at Exeter University and so I have experienced much of what the university has to offer. The Campus Absolutely beautiful. The main university campus (Stretham) was originally an aboritum which makes it absolutely stunning. All the trees ver cunningly diguise any building which otherwise might be obtrusive. There are also botanical gardens and the Lafrowda Lakes which are wonderful for pinics etc. Facilities The campus is equipped with everything you need: University super market, Nat West Bank, Library, Blackwells bookshop, Stationery shop, Print shop, Two pubs, A club, Sports Hall, and much more besides. Prices The prices in all the shops and bars are kept low due to monitoring by the Student Guild (which is the equivalent to most universities Student Union). Halls There...

Exeter

Advantages: Centre of Devon
Disadvantages: None

...Exeter is a really great city to be studying in. the campus is located up on the top of the hill over looking the city and has loads of green space and trees etc. In the summer it's lovely but in the winter when it starts raining sideways it gets a bit bleak. There are loads of things to do in terms of nightlife. besides the union bars and the Lemon Grove where loads of cool bands play, there is also the pheonix and cavern if you're into rock or punk stuff and a couple of nightclubs too. The clubs down on the Quay tend to be full of 16 year olds who are absolutely lashed on white lighting and decked out head to toe in topman gear and ben shermans, but quite a lot of students go to arena nightclub at the other end of town. The Wetherspoons pub called The Imperial is just 10 mins walk from the university and is packed during...

Travelodge Exeter

Advantages: Convenient for motorway
Disadvantages: Service

...I have stayed at quite a few travelodges in the UK without any problems or complaints, but avoid this one at all cost. My room stunk, the smell was emanating from the bathroom sink. The Wifi advertised was so slow it took over 10 minutes to boot up the welcome page. When i phoned up the service provider I was given the usual bs about it must be my equipment.(Strange as it had been working perfectly a half mile up the road at another Wifi area). Went for a meal in the adjoining Harry Ramsdens restaurant and ordered sausage and mash with green beans. The unappetising looking dish arrived with no green beans. I called the waitress over and she went to get some. They arrived approx 2 minutes later, cold. I have complained to Travelodge, which prompted a reply from the manager of the Exeter site, asking me to phone him. When I...

Historic Exeter

Advantages: Attractive architecture.Good base for touring South Devon
Disadvantages: Some of the modern archiecture is not appealin

...Exeter, in South Devon, is a pleasant city with a delightful Cathedral and close, a compact shopping centre, museums and art galleries and the Northcott Theatre. The University of Exeter is one of the most attractive campuses in the UK and Exeter is also the home city of the Devon and Dorset Regiment. The lodging scene in the city is good: there are several elegant hotels in the city centre and several more on the edge of the city including one near Exeter Airport. There are also guest houses and a lot of homely bed and breakfast places in Exeter and prices of accommodation are reasonable. The town has a football league team, Exeter City, and recreational facilities in Exeter are good. There are a number of high-quality restaurants and a good range of ethnic eateries including Italian, Indian and Chinese. Another very attractive...

My Hometown, Exeter.........

Advantages: Great city, full of culture and history, and plenty to amuse anyone
Disadvantages: none

...two Waterstones book shops. There are two large multi-story car parks, one in the Guildhall shopping centre, and another, King Willaim Street, which is just off the top of the High Street. Both fill up fast on weekends, and there is no parking in the city centre. Large parts of the city centre are completely car-free, others are public transport and taxies only, so in general are very safe. If you come here for shopping spree, Exeter is not the best place, but it is among the best in the region and certainly provides all I need. Nightlife is not a big speciality in Exeter, despite being a university city. There are a few decent clubs; my favourites are Hot House and Volts, both down on the quay. One nice quirk about Exeter’s clubs is age concerned for Devon head office is next to Volts nightclub, so they obviously cant take it...

Review of Exeter in General

In response to Angusreid, here comes my rhyme feed

Advantages: Good teachers, rather small classes, great campus, lots of international students, well funded.
Disadvantages: A snobbish Uni, upper-class-flooded and they show it.

...Exeter Uni, those were my juvenile years. To Economics and Politics I had subscribed, To learn how the big guys could be bribed, But instead of reading I got p*ss*d on beers. The university enjoyed excellent reputation, They told me "Go there if you can't afford Oxbridge", But what I found was a place for the kids of the rich, Boys with long names and titles by inflation. "So where are the girls?" I asked myself. No ConnoisseurHaggler, no Anna, no Sarah around, Only prude country girls were to be found, Thus I returned to the Playboy on my bookshelf. I must admit I did not tell you the truth: With loads of foreign students on the campus, Of the Greek and Spanish girls I made a fuss - These were the sins of my oh so sweet youth. "Get back to the courses" I here you shout. I loathed the Economics lectures right...

Exeter City - The Grecians

Advantages: Got more monet from TV deals and are no londer in recivership, good signings - experience and qualirty in Richardson, Barlow and McCarthy and Blake will have learnt a thing or two off Perryman
Disadvantages: They dont own their ground, the city council do and other financial problems and they will miss Perryman for his tactics and knowlage

...Exeter City are one of three third division football teams from Devon. Like counterparts Torquay Exeter have struggled with one of the worst problems in football, the dreaded drop out of the league into the conference. Torquay beat Barnet on the last day of the season to send Barnet down, and keep Torquay in the league by the skin of their teeth. Exeter went even closer in 1994, finishing bottom of the table, but got a reprieve when the conference team that won promotion failed to come up to scratch on their ground. Several times City fans have counted their blessings that there is only one relegation spot in division three, and after the league council overturned a bid from the conference clubs to extent the relegation/promotion spots to two or three places, Exeter look as if they may defy the acts and survive again...
