Fazer
Advantages: Great
Disadvantages: Seat only good for an hours riding.
...All the reviews stated this bike is ideal for just about any type of riding, touring, commuting, fun days out and B road blasting. I bought mine in the Spring of 2004 and have used it for all of these types of riding and have to say it almost, not quite, but almost lives up to the hype. My bike a shiny blue one, R1 Blue I'm told, after scratching it once I found its listed as Deep Purlish Blue Metallic on the Yamaha paint supply lists, how's that for a colour? Still it looks great and is mainly blue but has a nice purple tinge when caught in the right light nice! Mine is a 2003 model with the Fox eye headlights and other improvements over the older model shown in the picture above.
The ride is good with adjustable suspension front and rear, I keep the front wound round to the firmer end of the dials and the rear somewhere towards...

fazer 600
Advantages: superb handling. decent riding position.
Disadvantages: corrosion
...bought a fazer 600 as a first bike almost five year ago.
Have since ridden almost 40,000 miles in all weathers inc. a trip to the Isle of Man TT races in 2003.
This machine is an ideal first bike, excellent in cornering, good brakes and can be forgiving when slight mistakes are made.
it's handling makes it superb on all roads including filtering through heavy traffic in town.
it is also quite comfortable cruising along the motorway, with a good riding position and a good view from the mirrors.
As with any bike it needs regular servicing the main points being the chain and brakes, which if not looked after will wear quite quickly.
yamahas are prone to corrosion and after five years of punishment I have had to replace the down pipes of the exhaust and the front brake calipers.
Therefore I recommend regular cleaning and polishing...

Great 1st Road Bike for early Mid-Life Crisis
Advantages: Performance, Cost
Disadvantages: Quality of finish disappointing, Falling Off
...for breakfast!
All bikes need TLC much more so than cars, Yamaha's are not renowned for the quality of the finish and the Fazer is no exception, infrequent cleaning especially in winter will result in a very shabby bike in no time. The forks, exhaust down-pipes and engine especially benefit from special attention. The paint finish is not bad, but will scratch quite easily if you are not careful with keys, luggage or zips on clothing.
As a first big bike its a winner, I am looking to change it for something else now, not because I don't like it, but just feel the need to try something new, maybe an Aprilla Falco or even a BMW 1150GS!...

The Yamaha Blaster - The small contender
Advantages: Lightweight, powerful 200cc two-stroke motor, proven over time
Disadvantages: Wheel base and width cause instability in some situations.
...valves that ensures good throttle response for smoother acceleration and a broad, hard-hitting power band to make this little quad a very rideable machine! A super reliable CDI type ignition provides many years of faultless running as I have experienced. Although for most applications i would recommend to leave the engine in standard format , there are a whole host of aftermarket options to increase the performance of this great powerplant. A great place to start modifcations, if you are that way inclined, is a tuned exhaust pipe which is offered by many manufacturers, a higher flow air filter and an adjustment in carbration to suit these changes. This is a recent upgrade that i have done myself and wow am i pleased with improvment! Would recommend to any Yamaha Blaster users once they have mastered whats on offer from stock trim...

Yamaha Fazer 600
Advantages: Nimble,lightweight commuter,good engine & Brakes.
Disadvantages: Poor headlights as standard, weak built quality.
...Looking for a user friendly middleweight motorbike in the 600cc category? Then look no further than Yamaha's Fazer 600.
I've owned one since passing my test 3 years ago and have never looked back.
So what's the good points about it?Well for starters,it's a great bike for anyone who is considering passing their motorcycle test or for those "born again" riders looking to ease their way back onto two wheels.
Engine wise, this bike has one of the best,a good spread of power with no glitches in the delivery.
Which means you can either pootle along taking it easy in whatever gear you fancy or alternatively snick down a gear or two and crack open the throttle for near-sportbike like acceleration.
For once here is a bike that actually has a fuel guage built into it.That may sound like a strange comment if you've never owned...

ATS - Exhaustingly Good
Advantages: Fast Service, Courteous Service
Disadvantages: Garages will differ around the UK
...**Please note the following ATS-Euromaster review is based around the service and products received from the ATS Garage in Newbury, Berkshire.**
*Personal Background*
Earlier on this week I noticed my exhaust was producing a rather unique sounding boy racer noise, complete with a slight rattling of my exhaust box, so decided immediate action was required as I was due in Cardiff the following day. I decided to take my Citroen Saxo (51 reg.) to the local Kick Fit dealers as they had always provided a reputable service in the past, however after an initial free inspection they advised me that I required 3 new parts for my exhaust, an Intermediate Pipe, an Intermediate Silencer Box and a Rear Silencer Box.
However after consulting their catalogue of parts I was told the intermediate parts I needed were not obtainable from their...

Its Good To Be Back - to Biking
Advantages: Good performance/handling
Disadvantages: Durability of paintword
...My last bike was 10 years ago, a Honda VF500. That was a v4 four stroke and reasonably powerfull at the time. I had to sell to buy a house and regretted it just about every day since then.
Last year I remembered a 15 year old insurance policy and thought I'd find out what it was worth. When I found out it was enough for a new bike and change, that was it, policy cashed - ker-ching.
I used uk.rec.motorcycles to get some idea of what bike to get, and of course all the bike mags. Originally I was thinking of a GPZ500 (cheapish to run, not too powerfull) but when I tried one out it was a bit too small for me (6' 2). The Fazer kept coming out top of the bike mags Hooligan 600 group tests, and when I found I could get one for just £500 more than a GPZ500 that was it, Bike ordered!
Getting back aboard was no problem, just like falling...

Ebley tyres and exhaust
Advantages: cheap and great service
Disadvantages: none
...Having had the exhaust on the car go and tying it up with string as you do, we had to go and get a new one.
We telephoned around and you would not believe the difference in price. We were limited as to how far we could drive with it tied up so could not go to a large town and had to make do with Cirencester and a choice of three places.
At Kwik fit we were quoted at "just over £100" and at ATS they said it will be £110 plus £15 if the manifold bolts and springs are hard to get off - now you can buy these in places like Halfords for £6.00.
Then we telephoned the cheapest which was Ebley. They said £75.00.
On arrival there we found that they had to send for it from their other branch and this would take an hour. But, if we wanted to have a look around the town they would drive us there and pick us up. Now that is service.
Also...
