How much can you hold
Review of Seagate Pushbutton Backup External Hard Drive 400 GB by
slik321
Advantages: memory, reliability, quality
Disadvantages: size, sound
...than good value for money (depending on the time you buy). Push button backup technology is fantastic although a little time consuming, the general idea is that a complete copy of your computer will be saved onto you external hard drive, if and when your computer messes things up (as will eventually be the case)then never fear the pc backup on your external hard drive is here
When transfering movies, music. etc the external hard drive is vey fat in my opinion. It will transfer a movie in around 2 minutes, an album in around 20 seconds and a single song in a flash. Speed and size is everything, the seagate hard drive has been designed to give the consumer what they want at a cheap affordable price (much to the buyers delight)
setting up the external hard drive on you computer is just too easy, plug the mains in, connect the usb into your...

Panasonic semi-soft case
Review of Panasonic Case Camcorder by
fpglobal
Advantages: Rugged, stylish semi-soft case
Disadvantages: Only fits camcorder with no room for spare tape or batteries
...I got this free with my Panasonic NVGS11B hence excellent value for money but not something I would buy though. Reason below.
The case has a stylish rugged look about it with a hand held strap which is connected to the dual zip on the left and right hand side.
The 2 zips go to the top but not right around the top. The remaining gap is covered by the top flap cover which is fastened using velcro.
Around the back is a belt clip which can be opened or closed with push buttons.
Also comes with a shoulder strap.
The external case itself apart from the zip and bottom area is made from a plastic type material so appears to be rugged in construction.
Internally there is only the one compartment for your camcorder. The camcorder fits snugly in the soft sponge lined case.
There are no internal or external pockets and no room inside to put...

Antec Nine Hundred Advanced Gaming Case
Review of Antec Tower by
avenger7855
Advantages: plenty of drive bays, and excellent cooling
Disadvantages: mother board tray isn't removable, and component installation isn't tooless
...The Antec nine hundred gaming case is a great case for anyone who perhaps has a confident amount of knowledge, to build there own desktop computer.
It has many drive bays that can be configured to your personal preference, this is possible as the internal 3.5 inch drive bay cages are removable and can be repositioned, also each drive bay cage can house up to 3 hard drives.
There are three different drive bay setups:
3 external drive bays - 6 internal drive bays
6 external drive bays - 3 internal drive bays
9 external drive bays
Each drive bay has plenty of ventilation, and each hard drive cage has a blue L.E.D fan included to cool the hard drives. Also an optional 20mm fan can be added to one of the cages for CPU, video card, or power supply cooling.
On the top of the case there is a huge 200mm Tricool exhaust fan that can be set...

A great looking, and practical computer case.
Review of Apevia X-Cruiser X-CRUISER-BL by
joefireline
Advantages: Looks, size, motherboard tray removeable, no sharp bits.
Disadvantages: Price.
...if you want as well. There is also air vents for graphics card and expansion cards.
A great feature of this M/B, is that you can take out the mother board tray, it can slide out, so you can attach your motherboard with ease, making life a lot easier.
There is plenty of space in the case, including 4 5.25" external bays, 2 3.25" external bays, and 4 internal 3.25" bays.
There is no sharp parts in this case, so you can build your system without a load of cuts after!
Overall a great case, a bit expensive, but worth it....

Plextor - Best DVD/CD-R/RW combined ive found
Review of Plextor PX-750A by
Darksibling
Advantages: Very Useful for burning my DVDs, I put it in a external casing :D
Disadvantages: None, it was brill
...You get great value for money, if you pay for a downloading site like usenext, then this is for you, you can creat dvd's of your favourite films.
I personally found this very useful and it is ultra-quiet even in my external casing. (IDE 5.1/2 inch)
I Bought 2 from curries and gave one to my friend because he liked it so much. He then too gave it a try out on his computer (internal) and said that it ran like a picture and was even quiter inside his computer than in my external casing.
I reccomend that if you are buying a DVD/CD writer combined, that this is the one you use
Thumbs up from me. Brilliant buy, 4 out of 5.
Note: it would have made 5of5 but CD writing speed needs improvement. Writes a CD in 4minutes, DVD-4 (single layer) 17minutes....

My little black book
Review of Western Digital My Book Essential Edition WDG1U3200 320 GB by
matties_bitch
Advantages: Holds tonnes of files!
Disadvantages: It is quite heavy.
...I decided to buy an external harddrive as I store a lot of music and photographs on my computer and I would like it to be backed up in case my computer breaks and my files are irretrievable.
I decided to start on Amazon.co.uk and searched "external harddrive" on their main page. A number of different models came up - the Western Digital My Book external harddrive came up a few times with different storage sizes - 160GB, 320GB, 500GB etc.
The Western Digital My Book external harddrive stood out next to the others as it looked to be a nice size, it was better looking than most of the others available with its smart black casing and it had more variety of what storage size you can get.
Space
The 320GB harddrive holds up to 90,000 photos or 80,000 songs or 25 hours of film.
The 160GB harddrive holds up to 45,000 photos or 40,000 songs...

250GB Beast!
Review of Western Digital Scorpio WD2500BEVE 250 GB by
buckyohare
Advantages: 250GB of internal memory!! At a reasonable price, too!
Disadvantages: No major disadvantages. Not as quiet as I believed it would be.
...hard drive to the new one, which required the purchase of an external hard drive enclosure, but once the process was completed, I simply removed my old hard drive, insterted the new one and was ready to go! And now I have my old 60GB drive in the external case, for use as an external drive, so nothing has gone to waste in the upgrade!
The drive has been completely reliable and performs exactly as expected. The only slight quibble I have is that despite the manufacturer's claim that it is one of the quietest drives around, it is slightly louder than my old one. Regardless of this however, it is still pretty quiet and the noise level is not a problem even when left on at night. All in all I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their current internal hard drive, or even to those looking for a 2.5" drive for external...

Not perfect but close
Review of Freecom Hard Drive Hard drive 250 GB by
warandpeace
Advantages: Easy way to add storage
Disadvantages: More expensive than internal drives
...Having realised that on both of my internal drives had only a couple of gigs of storage free each, I realised that it was time to get an additional drive.
My first thought of course was another internal drive, however unfortunately however I didn't actually have the space inside the case to fit a new hard disk. (Only 2 hard disk bays in my computer), and so turned to external drives.
I eventually settled on a 250GB Freecom drive, which at the time seemed the best balance between cost and storage capacity, at just under £100 at the time of purchase, though I notice you can now get them for about £70.
Appearance: The external drive consists of a silver coloured plastic box, slightly larger than a conventional internal hard drive. As well as the drive a USB cable and power cable where also provided. To set it up is incredibly simple...

External Hard-drive fit for rugged adventures
Review of LaCie Rugged All-Terrain Hard Disk Hard drive 250 GB by
yassarikhan786
Advantages: Fast transfer speed, protection from knocks and drops
Disadvantages: Fairly high price
...they have less than what they state. For e.g. a 320 GB hard-drive will have about 290 GB, which is quite a chunk away from the stated amount. So, looking at the LaCie external hard-drive you will be looking at a memory capacity of 230-240 GB, which in this case is not a large chunk, but is still considerable.
There is no known reason why all hard-drives (including the LaCie) have less memory than stated, it may be due to the internal disk within the outer case not being able to hold the stated amount or it may be that company's want to make a profit out of its customers. No on really knows. If you don't believe me about the memory capacity of a hard drive being less than stated, you can yourself check your hard-drives capacity by going into 'My Computer' and then right clicking the computer hard-drive icon and going into its properties.

How a case should be
Review of Supermicro SC742 I-450 by
mike_kular
Advantages: price and PSU
Disadvantages: weight and plasticy features
...to prise it open.
Down the front of the case are four 5.25in external drive bays, and a further seven 3.5in external bays are hidden behind the big plastic door.
With such a large amount of drive bays, a decent cooling system is a must. When I had this model in front of me I had a Gigabyte cooling system, which did take the internal temp down to –15 degrees. This cooling system was a bit extreme at £610 but I suppose you could rely on the good old fan system; maybe 3 extra could do the trick.
Also in the bundle, is a SP-450RP power supply, which is required by most dual Xenon and Opteron motherboards, but it also is backwards compatible with standard ATX boards.
As a good-quality EPS12VPSU will set you back around £100 alone, including one with the case should make the SC7421-450 an attractive proposition to any dual processor aficionado....
