The player is required to finish strongly to qualify for the next race - so strongly that the points will have them top the table. It is 'extreme' in that sense, but it's not really a contest when, as leader, there is the risk of being disqualified. But where there has been change has not been for the better. The 'Shoot Em Up' mode - destroying drone targets for a race duration - has now become 'Arcade' mode, but they may as well have called it 'Sh*t Em Up' as the lack of a limit of laps means it's point system seems pointless and is purely for practice (of which it's no substitute for the real thing). Advantages: Strong sense of speed, smooth graphics, excellent rain effects
Disadvantages: Somewhat artificial challenge and length, low replay value

Not so quick when navigating cycle menus where other options are not obviously apparent. Also, quicker to read about the teams from instruction manual than from slowly-scrolling text in-game. Third time lucky - at last a console that fits, so an Extreme G game without significant performance problems. Graphically, it's smooth, but rough at the edges - bike "clips" in bumps and jumps, glitches when weapon-firing and the way in which it crashes and burns falling off-circuit feels rushed. ...*A review of Extreme G for the N64 which primarily focuses on the single-player experience.* As a futuristic racer, Extreme G is fairly forgiving; should the G-Bike fall off the course it's recovered, and when the shields are low this equates to a greater speed loss when hit by enemy fire, so no elimination in the game. However, there's no sabotaging the race either! Extreme G is a lightning quick racing game, though perhaps too fast for it's own good. The handling is tricky to get a feel for, yet the loss in momentum seems minor when driving against the track barriers. Also, not only is there the obvious fogging, but the frame-rate takes a knock whenever the action gets a touch hectic. It's no wonder, as the tracks are immensely varied. Extreme G

Advantages: Great graphics, speed to rival F-Zero
Disadvantages: Handling needs improving, sometimes frustrating.

...opponent, it does this as well but it more importantly slows them down. This adds a big tactical side to the racing. When you're behind some one you constantly fire your onboard gun at them untill you've past them, this leaves them going like a snail and you about 2 miles ahead. The game does get hard as you battle your rivals through a seris of races that get longer the further through the game you get, and earn points. If you have the most poimts at the end of the tornament you earn a new bike that may or may not be better. On the down side, the controls could have been made a little better. It is hard to make slight adjustments while going fast and therefore is hard to accurately shoot the other racers. But this aside this is a good game, not a great one but still good....

Bop It Extreme 2

Advantages: Addictive! Great as a party game
Disadvantages: End up spending too much time playing it!!!

...Wow!!! I've had my eye on this toy for months, but never thought I could justify £20+ for a simple looking game. Anyway, I recently saw this on sale for just under £18, and I couldn't resist! It's a fantastic game, and so simple to understand and pick up. There are just 5 actions to perform, and all you have to do it follow the instructions shouted to you by the toy. Sounds simple enough doesn't it? But it is just so addictive!!! You might think it's child's play, but you'd be surprised how easily confused you can get with the music and instructions constanlty coming. The build of the toy itself feels good. It feels solid, and the rubber grips makes sure you won't be dropping it easily. Disadvantages: Back scratches easily, screen positioning.

The only other minor disadvantage is that when it is in my leather case, the screen goes so close to the edge, it is sometimes hard to type letters such as Q and P. Overall, I think that the iPod Touch 2G is a simply amazing buy and I would certainly recommend it to my friends....

Apple Iphone 3G 8GB

Advantages: A great piece of hardware with unlimited possiblilities.
Disadvantages: Can't delete pre installed apps

...I have been a customer of O2 for many years now and so after resisting as long as I could I finally gave in and got the Apple Iphone 3G on contract. I have to say I have no regrets! The Iphone 3G is a completley touchscreen phone with internet capabilities. Not only can the phone connect to wifi signals it is also permanently connected via your network provider, all the while you have signal anyway! I find that the speed of the internet on this phone is sufficient for what I use it for (train times, facebook, emails etc), it get's a bit faster when connected to wifi rather then your network providers internet but to be honest I find the normal 3G speed is fine for me. The great thing about the phone is the applications you can add; the phone can be completly tailored to you and becomes unique for everyone! There are plenty of free apps...
