Oh F.E.A.R, I just got over my fear of little girls

Advantages: Good follow on from previous story, some good gameplay
Disadvantages: Noone plays multiplayer anymore, graphics aren't great

..., instead of having to search for an object that is hidden away, eventually having to resort to watching a walkthrough and completely breaking immersion while you do it, the majority of the game is very obvious and easy to navigate. Some die-hard FEAR fans may have enjoyed the item searching, but for me, the fact they removed the searching from FEAR 2, at least to such an extent that it is in the original, overjoyed me. Graphics The original F.E.A.R?s graphics, especially for the time, were absolutely astounding. It was released in a time where dynamic shadows were practically unheard of, and many games didn?t even use pixel shaders. At the time, it was a hard game to muster, and even today it isn?t ugly by any means. However, this means expectations for ?Project Origin? were pretty high, and to be honest, they don?t really meet...

Review of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (PC)

F.E.A.R 2- It's 2nd for a reason, only a sequel in every way

Advantages: easy to play, brilliant AI, nice flowing plot, great graphics and visuals, very compatible.
Disadvantages: resource hungry, combat system downgraded (no lean function etc) and dissapointing plot

...After playing F.E.A.R and praising it's name like the lost messiah of games it truly was, I definitely put my faith in the producers, Monolith, to create yet another truly fantastic first person shooter that would blow my mind (again) and have me saying Amen when ever the name of the game was ever mentioned: If it is good enough for WARNER BROTHERS to publish it, it MUST be a game worth recognition.... Sadly, I'm afraid we have another COD 5 incident here. (For those of you who don't know, Call of duty 4 was an award winning game of epic proportion and the producers Infinity ward did not take part in creation of COD 5, instead it was designed by another company who sadly did not live up to Infinity Ward's expectations and neither their fan base....but this will all be part of another review, if you're lucky.) F.E.A.R 2 follows...

F.E.A.R

Advantages: Superb Graphics and Atmosphere
Disadvantages: Enemies are a bit repetitive, most locations are "deserted"

...and tingling with the excitement. Overall: F.E.A.R is a fantastic, atmospheric rollercoaster-ride of a game that just looks and feels the part. In truth I enjoyed this more than I enjoyed Half Life 2 which although graphically is extremely good felt that it just didn't capture the atmosphere of the original. The only complaint I would have is that almost every location you visit is pretty much deserted except for you and the bad guys (and sometimes members of your own team), it would have been nice to incorporate some civilians or other non combatants into the game.
