The majority of tracks raced on are ovals. 1 mile long tracks that are banked on each end and see cars hurtling around at 200 mph. If you tangle with these walls, there is gonna be trouble. The races are normally anything up to 275 laps. That is because a lap only lasts about 25 seconds. The cars looks similar to F1 cars but slightly longer and a bit bigger. ...when compared to some of the circuits the Indycars use. There are traditional courses, like the legendary Laguna Seca, and even one built out of an active airfield. F1 is pretty much the same all through the year, having courses with lap times between 1 and 2 minutes, races that last 1.5 to 2 hours and races that run between 50 an 80 laps. Indycar blows this in to the water. The big super speedway races last well over 2 hours, can be over 200 laps long, and have lap times of around 30 seconds. Similarly the circuits vary in length much more, so overall you get much more varied racing. Indycar is also a much purer sport than F1. There is less hi-tec technology, and more raw racing. ...F1 2000 is a very good and realistic game based on the motor sport Formula 1. The graphics are superb and the cars actially look like F1 cars... unlike other F1 games where they look like a pointed box with 4 wheels. The gameplay is superb and every is so real... the cars, background, pitlane, gameplay and you actually feel like you're driving a F1 car. F1 2000 is definetly a very good game and you should definetly try this game out, but once you've started playing I bet you wouldn't want to stop playing because F1 2000 can be very addictive for some...... ...if it wasn't for the poor AI you might actually forget you're playing a game. On a final note, even though the AI seems to be the biggest problem with the game, setting the difficulty to medium or hard improves it somewhat. The cars take corners faster but still seem to have a death wish when it comes to locking wheels with you at 200mph! Graphics At first glance this game looks really good. It has a high frame rate, nice reflections, good track detail and textures but then I realize this is a PS2 game. It's true that it looks good for a 1st generation title but this game could easily be done on the Dreamcast! Personally I have come to expect a bit more than that from my PS2. ...It has come to this. Racing cars now are so evenly matched that it is very hard to overtake. Only on the Hockenheim circuit could Barrichello start from 18th and come through to win the race. Flat out straights do not take ALL the skill out of the driving but does take MOST of it out. The speeds reached by the cars down the straights are amazing but with this comes danger. All very well in the could, a pretty little circuit cutting through the forest but when it rains I would hate to be a driver. The vision is supposedly terrible. We must make F1 a safe sport and with circuits like this around that is very hard. The trees make the water hang as mist meaning that the vision is reduced to almost zero. At 200mph if you blink for a second, you've travelled 8 meters. That can mean the difference between a great overtaking move... Read review

...Some people love Hockenheim, others hate it. It is a very fast track, basically consisting of three long straights with chicanes between them, and a tight and twisty final section. This means that the car set up is difficult, low downforce is needed for the fast straights but this causes problems for the last section of the track. The cars reach speeds of up to 200mph, and some people claim that this is dangerous. However, what this track does produce is great races. The long straights make slip streaming easy and overtaking common place, this track can produce great races. How well a driver does is very dependant on his car, the more powerful the engine the faster the car can go. Although this track is a little long and straight, it can create great races so must remain on the F1 calendar, infact we could do with more races like... Read review

...Well, I think personally, bringing F1 to a semi-oval track with an infield section is a poor attempt by the FIA to bring back overtaking to F1. They have seen the wonderful overtaking manoeuvres and considered that bringing F1 to such a circuit might have the same effect. Pheonix wasn't too bad a circuit but I think Indianapolis was a bad choice. Malasya is the only new circuit that I am impressed with. Sorry, but Max Mosley and his posy have made a big mistake here. I may be wrong but I do not think it will bring much action to the F1 scene.... Read review

...ITV-F1.com is a very good site for all F1 fans. It provides latest news about drivers and teams, and what is happening in the F1 world. There are plenty of race reviews, and there are even live updates of what is happening on track during race weekends, that is if you need it, coz if your near a computer you'd probably have a TV nearby, that is if you are at home! There are comptetions now and then, and there are some good descriptions of drivers and teams, with clear tables on the current situation of both championships. Very good F1 site, with loads of pictures and even regular postings of screensavers which you can download for free.... Read review

...This is the unofficial Formula1 site and you can see why. This is a very average website that compares badly to some of the big F1 sites such as PlanetF1 and ITV-F1. All the information and latest news is here but it’s badly set out and the colours are a bit ropey. I wouldn’t advise anyone looking for an F1 site to use Formula1.com, it looks like some amateur web builders bought the name years ago and couldn’t be bothered to set-up a decent site. Surely there is a big opportunity here; Formula has got to be one of the most popular sports around. You’ve got the dot com name, now build a decent website!... Read review

...F1 is one of my favourite sports so seeing the F1 Career Challenge in my local GAME store I rushed to the counter and paid up. I zoomed home and whacked it into my PS2. The concept of the game is brilliant. Be yourself in the F1 World , start out as a rookie and work your way up the ladder to become an F1 legend. Sounds good on paper. In reality well, read to find out. The gameplay is well below average. The camera is terrible. The car handles like a feather and the slightest touch on the steering sends you spinning off course, and to top it off the AI is maddening, it will bash right into you regardless of your position. This game makes you feel like the whole F1 world is against you. Also It is particularly infuriating when you go up the starting grid when some lunatic decides he's going do plough into your side making you spin off... Read review
